Aaron Lewis will be taking part in a “Signings & Sightings” event immediately following his show in the Arena on February 28th

UNCASVILLE, CT (February 16, 2009)— Spin Street and Mohegan Sun are excited to join forces once again for an exclusive “Signings & Sightings” event with well-known rocker Aaron Lewis.  This special appearance and CD signing will take place on the Spin Street Stage in The Shops at Mohegan Sun concourse immediately following his performance in Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday, February 28th.  This “Signings & Sightings” event is sponsored by Spin Street and The Shops at Mohegan Sun.  Aaron Lewis’s CD will be available leading up to and on the day of this event at Spin Street.

Tickets to the Aaron Lewis performance are $45.00 and $35.00 and are on sale now at the Mohegan Sun Box Office and through Ticketmaster.  Ticketmaster customers may log onto ticketmaster.com; call Ticketmaster’s national toll free Charge By Phone number 1.800.745.3000 or visit any Ticketmaster outlet.

As the co-founder and lead singer of Massachusetts-based Alternative Rock band Staind, Lewis is the innovator behind some of the most memorable songs of the past decade, including the #1 single “It’s Been a While,” which spent sixteen weeks on Billboard’s Modern Rock chart.  After an unprecedented string of thirty sold-out solo shows in Mohegan Sun’s Cabaret Theatre since 2004, demand has propelled the show to move to a bigger venue.  Lewis will perform solo acoustic versions of well-known hits and fans will get the chance to interact with him as he takes requests from the audience.

Due to the short timeframe for the event and the number of fans expected Lewis will only be signing copies of his CD.  No memorabilia of any kind can be signed.

Collaborating with Spin Street, Mohegan Sun’s one-of-a-kind “Signings & Sightings” program provides guests the opportunity to meet entertainment superstars and world
renowned artists.  In addition, the program provides entertainers the opportunity to get
up-close-and-personal with their fans in a unique and exciting venue in which to showcase their latest work.  “Signings & Sightings” events are free and open to the public.

Mohegan Sun and the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference announced Tuesday that Mohegan Sun Arena will be the location for the boys and girls 2009 high school state basketball finals.

“We are thrilled that we are able to form this partnership with the CIAC.   This will allow Mohegan Sun Arena to host Connecticut’s finest student athletes and give them the opportunity to compete in the same arena that is home to the Connecticut Sun and play on the same floor as Michael Jordan, Ray Allen, Diana Taurasi, Lindsay Whalen and Sue Bird to name a few,” said Mohegan Sun’s President and CEO Mitchell Etess.

The games, which are scheduled for Friday, March 20th and Saturday, March 21st, will mark the first time in CIAC history that the boys and girls basketball championship finals are played on the same weekend at the same venue.  As always, there will be four boys and four girls games, a total of eight championship games in all.  Two games will take place on Friday night with the remaining six games to be played throughout the day on Saturday.

“The CIAC is extremely excited to be holding the girls and boys basketball finals at
Mohegan Sun this year.  Not only will it mark the first time in CIAC history that the girls and boys have played their finals on the same weekend, but the opportunity to play their state championships at a professional venue is particularly exciting for both the student athletes and their coaches,” said Paul Hoey, Associate Executive Director of CIAC.

Tickets will be broken down by three sessions, each session’s admission is $10.00.  Tickets for game sessions go on sale Monday, February 16th at 10:00am at the Mohegan Sun Box Office and through Ticketmaster.  Ticketmaster customers may log on to ticketmaster.com; call Ticketmaster’s national toll free Charge By Phone number 1.800.745.3000; or visit any Ticketmaster outlet.   The session on Friday night will feature two games, one at 6:30pm and the second at 8:30pm.  The next session will be Saturday morning and will feature three games at 9:00am, 11:00am and 1:00pm.  The final session will be Saturday evening and will also feature three games at 4:30pm, 6:30pm and 8:30pm.   All eight games will be tape delayed and broadcast on CTSN-TV, the Connecticut Sports Network.  Broadcast schedule TBA.
