UNCASVILLE, CT (May 27, 2009) – The third leg of the cherished Triple Crown thoroughbred horse race is upon us and once again, Mohegan Sun is the only Connecticut gaming facility offering wagering on this year’s 141st running of the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, June 6th.  Guests are invited to come and enjoy the excitement as Mohegan Sun celebrates with a special party.  Put your advanced wager in at the Race Book on Friday, June 5, 2009 and receive an official Belmont Stakes souvenir gift with any $25.00 wager on the Belmont.  On Saturday, June 6th, doors to the Uncas Ballroom open at 11:00am for the Belmont Stakes Party.

After two historic races that landed an incredible underdog and an unlikely Filly in the winner’s circle, the Belmont Stakes returns with one of those famous horses (Mine That Bird) looking to take the race once more.  Turf editor and handicapper for the Las Vegas Review-Journal and author of Betting on Horse Racing for Dummies Richard Eng will be watching out for that as well as handing out some helpful horse betting insight to guests.  Eng will be joined by another expert handicapper, Tom Quigley, owner & publisher of the popular publication, The HorsePlayer Magazine.

All guests who make a $25.00 wager will receive an official pass to the Buffet or an official Belmont Stakes souvenir.

Guests are encouraged to arrive early for Mohegan Sun’s Belmont Stakes Party in the Uncas Ballroom as space is limited and available on a “first-come, first-served” basis.  Seating will be limited to the first 1,000 customers.  Additional standing room will be available but will be limited.  Must be 21 or older to participate.

Slot Manufacturer WMS introduces Reel ‘Em In!® Compete to Win™ to North America

Reel in the action and catch a new wave of excitement with Mohegan Sun’s latest electronic slot machines. On May 21st, WMS, a leader in slot machine innovation, introduced their latest slot machines Reel ‘Em In!® Compete to Win™ and Mohegan Sun is one of the first destinations to carry the product in the world. The machines offer a winning combination of competitive events and leader boards designed to both excite and publicly recognize players.

“Our guests’ gaming experience has been enhanced as they compete against friends and family for bragging rights atop our Reel ‘Em In!® Compete to Win™ leader board,” said Frank Neborsky, Vice President of Slots at Mohegan Sun. “Players simply love community gaming and WMS has mastered the craft once again with their latest product.”

Located in Casino of the Wind, the new bank of electronic penny slot machines feature two 52-inch high-definition monitors, a 500-coin maximum bet and three mystery -triggered Reel ‘Em In competitive bonuses. Players may select one of four fishermen to represent themselves in bonuses. “Fishing Contest” allows each fisherman three reels in three to six fish that award credit values. “Fishing Boat Race” has players cast a line and hook fish as boats race across the screens. The first to reel in a fish and cross the finish line wins the race.

The third bonus, “Best Fish” shows players’ hooks as they rise up and down the water. When the hooks stop bobbing, a fish takes the bait and awards the value of that fish. The winner is the fisherman who gets a legendary (larger value) fish.

In addition to ‘Reel ‘Em In!® Compete to Win™, Mohegan Sun also offers a variety of other community games including IGT’s Ebay™, located near Sunrise Square, where players draw their attention to five vertical 40-inch big screen video reels located in front of each electronic penny-cent slot machine. This intense set-up allows players to win free spins and various jackpots. In addition, buy a vowel with IGT’s Wheel of Fortune® Special Edition™ Super Spin ™. The innovative penny slots are located in Casino of the Sky and Casino of the Earth as players sit at a life-sized wheel and compete to take home a jackpot.

The fun doesn’t end there; WMS also offers the penny-cent slot machines, Press Your Luck™ and Big Event where gamers can avoid the Whammy and place a maximum bet of 225 credits to win a top jackpot of 50,000 credits. Additionally, WMS’s POWERBALL® Power Seat™ located in Casino of the Earth, features two themes along with the Super Shot bonus, the industry’s first bonus round driven by a real-time physics engine!

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

Three fantastic shows to choose from; tickets only $20.00

Mohegan Sun has just the ticket for you with its “One-Day-Only Stimulus, Recovery and Rebound Special!”  Just visit the Mohegan Sun Box Office, any ticketmaster location or ticketmaster.com any time between 10:00am on Thursday, May 28th and 10:00am on Friday, May 29th to get your seats to Hank Williams Jr., An Evening With The Judds or Montgomery Gentry – for only $20.00 per ticket per show!

In the music industry, there are very few artists who surpass superstar status to become true American icons. Hank Williams Jr. is a founding member of that elite club. Throughout his career, he’s helped shape our country’s cultural landscape with his unbridled creativity through his “from the gut” honesty and unwavering personal convictions. His music not only reflects his own life, but the common experiences that unite us.

The Judds have celebrated a career like no other.  Adored by fans and admired by their peers, these Cinderellas from Kentucky helped reshape the sound and image of American popular music. Their first project, The Judds, was released in 1984.  By the close of 1985, The Judds had two platinum albums, a gold album and six #1 singles.  These two small-town girls became one of the most celebrated success stories in Country music, selling more than twenty million records and winning over sixty industry awards including five Grammys, nine CMAs and eight Billboard Music awards.  By 1989, they were one of the top-grossing touring acts in America, selling more concert ticketsthat year than everyone but The Grateful Dead and The Rolling Stones.  In October of 1990, Naomi learned she had contracted Hepatitis C.  The debilitating disease left her no choice but to retire after a lifetime of dreams and eight years at the top.

Montgomery Gentry has captured a large following with their “what you see is what you get” mentality.  Their accolades include gold and platinum albums, CMA and ACM awards, a Grammy nomination and sold-out tours. Kentucky natives, Montgomery Gentry – Gerald Edward (Eddie) Montgomery and Troy Gentry – have also been added to the performance lineup of the Country Music Association’s Music Festival on June 11th joining the likes of Dierks Bentley, Brooks & Dunn, Brad Paisley and John Rich.
