Mohegan Sun Poker to Recognize Top Players

On July 1st, multi-table poker tournament and daily cash game participants will be entered into a top player program

On July 1st, the battle to become Mohegan Sun Poker’s Player of the Year begins. The promotion, exclusive to Player’s Club members, will have tournament and cash game poker players bluffing, calling and raising their way to the top of the leader board each month.

In order to claim this top honor, players who participate in Mohegan Sun daily poker tournaments (major and special tournaments not included) will receive 1 promotional point for their participation in each tournament. The player who accumulates the most promotional points and the cash game player who accumulates the most hours from July 1st through December 31st will be awarded Mohegan Sun’s Poker Player of the Year. Players can climb the leader board monthly by placing on final tables. The following promotional points will be awarded for top ten finishes:

  • 1st = 15 Points
  • 2nd = 9 Points
  • 3rd = 8 Points
  • 4th = 7 Points 
  • 5th = 6 Points
  • 6th = 5 Points
  • 7th = 4 Points
  • 8th = 3 Points
  • 9th = 2 Points
  • 10th = 1 Point

Mohegan Sun’s Player of the Year will receive luxurious overnight accommodations at Mohegan Sun, a complimentary seat into a poker tournament and additional prizes.

Cash players will earn hours towards the promotion, each hour will have players on their way to Player of the Year.

On the way to the top, Mohegan Sun will also award Player of the Month. Each month the player who accumulates the most promotional points in tournaments and the most hours played in cash games will be named the players of the month.  The winners will each receive a $75.00 comp to one of Mohegan Sun’s restaurants.  Player of the Month promotional points and hours will be accrued beginning the first of the month and ending the last day of the month.

Mohegan Sun To Host Second Annual ‘MADD About Dancing’

Connecticut celebrities compete to benefit Mothers Against Drunk Driving at Mohegan Sun on October 1st

Mohegan Sun is proud to present the second annual ‘MADD About Dancing’ competition in the Uncas Ballroom on Friday, October 1st. Ten Connecticut celebrities will burn up the dance floor with a variety of dancing styles including the Tango, Rumba, Waltz and Swing. This is the second year Mohegan Sun has teamed up with WCTY and Arthur Murray Dance Studios to host a night filled with fun, entertainment and competition as attendees raise awareness and funds for Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). A special guest performance will also be announced at a later date.

Doors to the Uncas Ballroom will open at 7:00pm where guests will have the opportunity to enjoy hand-passed hors d’oeuvres and participate in a silent auction featuring Steiner memorabilia, as well as autographed guitars from famed musicians among other items before the celebrities take the stage at 8:00pm with their professional dance partners.

The group of celebrities includes: Veronica Ballestrini, local Country artist; Reischea Canidate, on-air personality at ESPN; Mike DiMauro, Assistant Sports Editor and Columnist for the New London Day; Mark Dixon, Meteorologist at WFSB; Dave Elder, Program Director and Afternoon Host; Desiree Fontaine, Co-Host of Connecticut Style; Charles Jaskiewicz Norwich Board of Education member; Miss Connecticut 2010; Cathy Poulin, Director of Public Relations for Bob’s Discount Furniture; and Bram Weinstein on-air personality, at ESPN.

For the competition, each celebrity will be paired with a professional dance partner from Arthur Murray Dance Studios and will perform two short routines. Female celebrities will perform the Tango and Rumba, while male celebrities will try their hand at the Waltz and Swing.

Tickets to “MADD About Dancing” are $50.00 per person and benefit Mothers Against Drunk Driving. They go on sale to the public on Tuesday, June 1st and are available at the following locations: all participating Arthur Murray Dance Studios, the MADD state office in East Haven, the WCTY building in Norwich and at Mohegan Sun’s Box Office.
