A new event crowning the best beer and chili in the State on August 22nd

CPTV (Connecticut Public Television) and WNPR (Connecticut Public Radio) have been known for producing programs and special events that celebrate fine wine and rich culinary pursuits – from Eating CT to The Faith Middleton Show’s Food Schmooze to signature event wine dinners. Now the public broadcasting networks are turning their attention to another culinary pursuit: beer and chili!

Many breweries and restaurants have signed on to participate in CPTV and WNPR’s first annual Craft Beer and Chili Challenge event inside Mohegan Sun Arena in on Sunday, August 22nd from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. So far, forty breweries and almost fifteen Connecticut restaurants will be offering their craft beers and chilis for visitors to taste and enjoy.

Visitors to the event will be able to sample a vast selection of craft-brewed beers as well as a variety of chili – from hearty and meaty, to hot and spicy, to vegetarian and everything in between. Then everyone can vote on their favorites, and the best beer and chili in Connecticut will be crowned.

Diners get ready for spectacular specials at Mohegan Sun

UNCASVILLE, CT  – Let Mohegan Sun add a little sizzle to your summer with a variety of specials from July 1st through September 6th to celebrate 2010’s Hot Summer Fun festivities.  Whether it’s all-you-can-eat lobster, finger lickin’ barbeque or the Best Breakfast Under the Sun, there is something for every palate this summer at Mohegan Sun. 

Start the day off right with a delectable breakfast that is sure to get you through a hot summer day.  Diners are in for “A Shore Thing” at Jasper White’s Summer Shack this season every Sunday from 10:00am to 2:00pm.  A brunch filled with Eggs and Omelets made-to-order, Crab Cakes, Raw Bar, Lobster Hash and much more will be accompanied by live music every week.  Enjoy all of the food and excitement for $39.00 and children are half the price.  The Best Breakfast Under the Sun returns as well each and every day at Seasons Buffet.  Enjoy Crepes and Sausage, Homemade Pancakes and breakfast sides for $10.85 per person from 7:30am – 11:00am every day (tax and gratuity not included).

What says summertime more than lobster?  Mohegan Sun’s Sunburst Buffet features the Seafood Spectacular every Sunday and Monday during Hot Summer Fun.  It includes not only all-you-can-eat Lobster, but seafood favorites like Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail, Lobster Salad, Lobster Mac & Cheese, Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes and Fried Seafood as well.   The Seafood Spectacular is available for $44.99 from 3:00pm to 10:00pm each Sunday and Monday during Hot Summer Fun (price inclusive of tax, gratuity not included).

Todd English’s Tuscany will celebrate Father’s Day with their delicious chef’s tasting. Diners will begin with a Caprese Salad tossed with Heirloom Tomatoes, Fresh Basil and Burrata Cheese. The second course will consist of Veal Ravioli with Thyme Mushroom Cream. Next, Petit Filet with Seared Foie Gras and Horseradish Silk Potatoes. Topping off the meal will be a Strawberry Rhubarb Napoleon dish with Cardamom Cream for dessert. The special is offered at $50.00 per person from 4:00pm to 10:00pm and will be offered at $85.00 per person with wine pairings.

Birches Bar & Grill will prepare a three-course meal beginning with a choice of Soup or House Salad and then a Roast Prime Rib of Beef served with Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Asparagus Spears and Horseradish Cream. For dessert, a seven layered Caramel Mousse Bomb with Chocolate covered pretzel pieces will be prepared. The meal will be offered at $24.95 per person from noon until midnight.
