SUN WINEFEST Brings the World’s Finest Wine and Food to Connecticut in 2009

Weekend festivities feature culinary events, seminars and the Grand Tasting at Mohegan Sun on January 17th and 18th, 2009

 

UNCASVILLE, CT (September 19,  2008) – SUN WINEFEST, New England’s most spectacular wine and food event, returns to Mohegan Sun Saturday, January 17th and Sunday, January 18th, 2009. 

 

The weekend’s main event is the Grand Tasting, which will be held in the Convention Center from 12:00pm to 5:00pm on Saturday, January 17th and Sunday, January 18th.  Sample more than 1,000 fine wines provided by international wineries and specialty beers from breweries and beer companies from around the world.  Exhibitors showcasing related services such as wine storage, culinary accessories and specialty foods will also be featured.  Guests will have the opportunity to ask questions, hear commentary from the winemakers and experts, and enjoy delicacies from some of the region’s finest restaurants by purchasing tasting portions of signature dishes at a nominal rate.

Tickets for the Grand Tasting are $70.00 for a one-day pass and $110.00 for a weekend pass.  They will go on sale at 10:00am on Monday, September 22nd at the Mohegan Sun Box Office and through Ticketmaster.  Ticketmaster customers may purchase online at ticketmaster.com, over the phone at 860.886.0070, or at any Ticketmaster outlet.   A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

SUN WINEFEST attendees will also have the opportunity to add to their experience by attending a series of interesting and educational seminars on a variety of topics.  Tickets for seminars will be offered at an additional cost.

Mohegan Sun’s Executive Chef, Michael Luboff, is pleased to host Mohegan Sun’s own celebrity restaurateurs, Todd English and Jasper White who will be joined by an impressive line-up of culinary personalities.  Celebrity chefs will be featured in cooking demonstrations all weekend on the Main Stage located in the Grand Tasting along with other entertaining presentations.

To further complement the SUN WINEFEST experience, Saturday night will feature a fundraiser to benefit The American Liver Foundation.  The evening features a “Celebrity Chef Dine Around,” giving guests the opportunity to be served delectable dishes prepared by world-famous chefs, television celebrities and cookbook authors.  Each dish will be paired with extraordinary wines and many talented winemakers will be on hand.  The evening culminates with an elaborate dessert display, presented by renowned pastry chef and chocolate aficionado Jacques Torres and Mohegan Sun’s Executive Pastry Chef Lynn Mansel.  Tickets for the event are $175.00, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting The American Liver Foundation, the nation’s leading nonprofit organization promoting liver health and disease prevention.  The ALF provides research, education and advocacy for those affected by liver-related diseases, including hepatitis.

Mohegan Sun Toasts New Casino with Specialty Cocktails

UNCASVILLE, CT (October 9, 2008) – What better for a celebration than a toast? In celebration of the grand opening of Casino of the Wind, Mohegan Sun will offer two specialty cocktails, Windswept and Windfall, throughout the month of October.

Windswept is a fresh-tasting drink mixed with BULLDOG Gin, St-Germain Elderflower, Pomegranate Juice and Pomegranate Liquer, topped with a splash of Möet & Chandon Imperial Champagne. The drink will be offered at the East Wind Bar inside Casino of the Wind, Star Bar, Leffingwells Martini Bar, Todd English’s Tuscany, Birches Bar & Grill, The Cove and in The Cabaret Theatre.

In true fashion of the star-studded grand opening celebrations, Mohegan Sun has teamed up with the world’s premier jeweler, Tiffany & Co., to offer Windfall, which includes a $550.00 mix of Krug Grand Cuvée Brut Champagne, Richard Hennessy Cognac, Grand Marnier Cuvée du Cent Cinquantenaire 150, Chambord Raspberry Liquer and Pomegranate Juice garnished with raspberries, blackberries and topped with a Platinum Diamond and Pink Sapphire Celebration Band. Uncasville, CT (October 11, 2008) – Mohegan  Sun celebrated the grand opening of their new Casino of the Wind with an unforgettable star-studded lineup of celebrity guests in attendance over the weekend of Friday, October 10th through Sunday, October 12th. 
Tracy Morgan, Lindsay Price (Lipstick Jungle), Robert Buckley (Lipstick Jungle), Becki Newton (Ugly Betty) and Chris Diamantopoulos (The Starter Wife), Eric Mabius (Ugly Betty), Maria Menounos, Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin, Cheryl Hines (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Rex Lee (Entourage), Stacy Keibler  (Dancing With the Stars), Geoff Stults (October Road), Matthew Settle (Gossip Girl) and Jessica Szohr (Gossip Girl) all gathered in the Casino of the Wind’s stunning new Poker Room to play a round of Celebrity Poker to celebrate the launch of the new space.  They also got a chance to check out some exciting musical performances.

Additional highlights included actress Lindsay Price who unveiled Tiffany & Co.’s and Mohegan Sun’s new high-roller cocktail, the Windfall, in Leffingwells Martini Lounge.  The cocktail, valued at over $6,000, includes a Tiffany’s diamond and pink sapphire ring garnish.  The celebrations continued with an all-star musical performance from Band From TV at Mohegan Sun’s Wolf Den, whose members include James Denton (Desperate Housewives); Adrian Pasdar, Greg Grunberg, James Kyson Lee (Heroes); Jesse Spencer (House); Bob Guiney (The Bachelor) and his wife Rebecca Budig (All My Children).  Also performing Saturday night was American Idol star, Blake Lewis, who rocked the Lucky’s Lounge.  The night was topped-off with a VIP red carpet and after-party at the property’s exclusive Ultra 88 nightclub.
