Mohegan Sun Ups The Ante With A Special Week-Long Signings & Sightings

Monday, April 5th, 2010

Lenny Clarke, Bob Cousy, Dwight Evans, Bill Walton and more take part in exclusive signings at Mohegan Sun from April 18th-24th

An exclusive, week long Signings & Sightings event is set to take place at Mohegan Sun.   A great lineup of celebrities will take part in this free personal appearance and signing that includes Lenny Clarke, Bob Cousy, Kelley Tuthill, Dwight Evans, Jasper White, Fred Lynn, Bill Walton, Troy Brown and John Hannah.  This special Signings & Sightings will take place on the Spin Street Stage in The Shops at Mohegan Sun from Sunday, April 18th through Saturday, April 24th.  All Signings & Sightings events are free and open to the public.

When it comes to Boston bred comedians, few hold more acclaim and likeability then that of Lenny Clarke.  Like many great comedians of his time including friends Denis Leary and Steven Wright, Clarke made his rounds in the Boston comedy scene during the 70s and 80s, quickly making a name for himself.  He went on to land his own sitcom Lenny in 1990 while also starring in TV shows Contest Searchlight, The Job and It’s All Relative.  Clarke played roles in the feature films Stuck On You in 2003 and Fever Pitch in 2005.  You can currently catch Clarke on the hit FX drama Rescue Me starring alongside Denis Leary.

Long before Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish immortalized their names as legendary Boston Celtics; Bob Cousy was the first truly celebrated player of the most storied NBA franchise in history.  Cousy is widely regarded as the first great point guard in the NBA.  By 1956, after five stellar seasons with the Celtics and consecutive play-off appearances, Cousy would be joined by teammates Tom Heinsohn, K.C. Jones and the center Bill Russell.  The confluence of stars spawned six consecutive championship titles.  Cousy retired at the end of the 1963 season capping off an amazing thirteen year career where he averaged 18.4 points per game, 5.2 rebounds per game and 7.5 assists per game as well as eight assist titles, one regular season MVP honor, 13 All-Star selections and 12 All-NBA First Team selections.

Kelley Tuthill is an award-winning reporter who currently can be seen as the co-anchor on the weekend edition of NewsCenter 5’s EyeOpener newscasts airing on Boston’s WCVB-TV.  Her story is without question a courageous one, as while being a devoted mother, wife and news reporter, Kelley is also an inspiring breast cancer survivor; a fight that she chronicled from beginning to end through a personal diary on  As an integral member of the WCVB-TV family, Tuthill has covered everything from the 2000 Presidential recount in Florida and the death of John F. Kennedy Jr. to the 2004 Boston Red Sox historic run in the World Series.  Kelley Tuthill is a prominent fixture in the Boston media landscape as well local Bostonian’s homes.

Jasper began his culinary conquest in New York at the Culinary Institute of America.  After graduating, he worked in New York, Florida, California and Montana before settling in Boston, Massachusetts in 1979.  It was here that Jasper helped shape the new direction of the Boston restaurant scene of that time.  His immense cooking knowledge and experience, combined with the studying of historical and cultural traits of New England food ways, have branded him a trusted authority on New England foods, most notably seafood.

Dwight Evans spent all but one year of his Major League Baseball career with the Boston Red Sox from 1972-1990.  Known early as an incredible defensive talent in the outfield, Evans claimed eight Gold Glove Awards.  In his 20-year career he batted .272 with 385 home runs, 1,384 RBI, 1,470 runs and 2,446 hits.  During the second half of Evans outstanding career, his batting improved greatly.  From 1980 -1989, Evans hit more home runs (256) than any player in the American League as well as leading the A.L. in extra base hits over the same time frame.  He is one of the most impressive outfielders in Red Sox history, deservingly placing him in the Red Sox Hall of Fame in 2000.

Fred Lynn is one of the greatest baseball players of all-time playing six remarkable seasons with the Red Sox from 1974 – 1980. He won the “Most Valuable Player” award and “Rookie of the Year” honors in his first season; the first player in the history of Major League Baseball to ever achieve both feats.  He batted .308, hit 124 home runs and grabbed 521 RBI in his illustrious tenure with the Boston Red Sox.  He went on to play ten more seasons in the big leagues and finished with a career .283 batting average and 388 home runs.  Flynn was elected into the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame in 2002.

Basketball Hall of Famer Bill Walton, in his prime, was one of the NBA’s most dominant centers to ever play the game.  He first came to prominence playing NCAA ball and winning three consecutive “College Player of the Year” Awards.  He was also part of three National Championships at UCLA in the early 70s.   In his last National Championship game, a win over Florida State in 1973, Walton made an amazing 21 of 22 field goals, scoring 44 points.  Some regard this as the greatest offensive performance in American college basketball history.  After nearly ten years in the NBA and winning a National Championship, a Finals MVP award and a regular season MVP award, Walton signed on with Larry Bird and the Celtics in the 1985-86 season.  During this season, Walton would be awarded the “NBA Sixth Man” Award, making him the first-ever player who throughout his career won an NBA finals MVP, a regular season MVP and an NBA Sixth Man Award.

Perhaps no New England Patriot in recent memory strikes more fond memories in the hearts of fans than that of Troy Brown.  He is New England’s all-time franchise leader in receptions and was a big part of capturing three Super Bowl victories in the past decade. Brown’s best year came in 2001 where he and Tom Brady connected for 101 receptions rendering Brown 1,199 yards and 5 touchdowns as well as his first trip to the Pro Bowl.  That same year, Brown returned a punt for a touchdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship Game that proved to be the game’s winning score.  It was big moments like these that made Brown a legend throughout New England.

John Hannah is best known in Boston as the hard fighting offensive lineman who played his entire career for the New England Patriots from 1973-1985.  In 1991, Hannah graced the cover of Sports Illustrated and was pegged as the “Best Offensive Lineman of All Time.”  A Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee in 1991, Hannah played in 9 Pro Bowls and made the All-AFC team ten times in his career.  He was also part of an elite crop of former players named to the NFL All-Decade Team for both the 70s and 80s.  He is on the NFL 75th All-Time Anniversary Team, listed as the #1 guard on the team.  Hannah’s excellence on the field has certainly carried over to off the field, as he is currently a managing partner for John Hannah & Associates; a leadership Development & Training System aimed at supplying the tools for improved organizational leadership and teambuilding.
