In 2000 they released the multi-Grammy-winning (including “Album of the Year”) Two Against Nature, and released the acclaimed follow-up Everything Must Go in 2003. Steely Dan was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. Visit SteelyDanOfficial.com for more information.

The Doobie Brothers have been delivering mind-blowing, roots-based, harmony-laden, guitar-driven Rock and Roll for over four decades, selling more than 48 million albums and winning four GRAMMY® Awards. Their latest studio album, Southbound, features new recordings of the band’s biggest hits, with Country music’s biggest stars including Blake Shelton, Zac Brown Band, Brad Paisley and Toby Keith. Boasting one of the most loyal fan bases in music, the band continues to write and record new material and tour the world. Their #1 singles “Black Water” (1974) and “What a Fool Believes” (1979), both gold, led a catalog of indelible songs that include “Listen To The Music,” “Jesus Is Just All Right,” “Rockin’ Down the Highway,” “Long Train Runnin’,” “China Grove,” “Take Me In Your Arms,” “Takin’ it to the Streets,” “Minute by Minute,” “You Belong to Me,” “The Doctor” and more. In all, the Doobies have tallied up five Top 10 singles and 16 Top 40 hits. Beginning with their multi-million-selling sophomore collection Toulouse Street (1972), the Doobies have 3 multi-platinum, 7 platinum and 14 gold albums. Their Best of the Doobies (1976) has sold more than 12 million copies – a rare “diamond record.”

The Doobie Brothers To Play The Theater At Mohegan Sun Arena

Monday, April 8th, 2013

Long-time rock legends hit the stage on July 3rd. Tickets on sale April 12th.

The Doobie Brothers, who have sold more than 40 million albums worldwide, are scheduled to perform at The Theater at Mohegan Sun Arena on Wednesday, July 3rd at 8:00pm.

Tickets are $39.50 and go on sale Friday, April 12th through Ticketmaster at 10:00am.  Ticketmaster customers may log on to ticketmaster.com; call Ticketmaster’s national toll free Charge By Phone number 1.800.745.3000; or visit any Ticketmaster outlet.  Tickets will also be available at the Mohegan Sun Box Office starting Saturday, April 13th subject to availability. More details are also available at www.mohegansun.com/entertainment.

The Doobie Brother’s last album, World Gone Crazy, may be the band’s most remarkable for the extent to which it stands completely on its own. Yes, World Gone Crazy is another chapter in one of the great American music stories, but it’s neither comeback nor nostalgia. An exhibition of aggressive and emotional performances, evocative storytelling, unapologetic attitude and world-class musicianship, the collection is its own justification.

In a sense, World Gone Crazy is an analogy for the Doobie Brothers as a whole. With founding members Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons, and 30 year-plus veteran John McFee, the Doobies have perfectly honored the band’s legacy with an offering that grows in unexpected new directions.

The songs on World Gone Crazy all feature Johnston and Simmons as writers and lead vocalists. Adding dimension to the project, in some cases there were co-writers involved, as well as some notable contributions or “guest appearances” by other vocalists.

Aside from a few years of inactivity in the mid-eighties, the Doobie Brothers have continued to perform, create and record for over 21 consecutive years. “The Doobies have always been about playing live,” Johnston says. “We’re not a studio hot house group and we’re not a concept album. That’s the way it’s been from the very first album and that’s still the way it’s being done.”

The Theater at Mohegan Sun Arena, located inside the award-winning Arena, will offer guests the opportunity to see some of their favorite artists in a more intimate, unique theatre-like setup. With seating up to 4,500, The Theater at Mohegan Sun Arena is another complement to the existing entertainment venues including The Wolf Den, The Cabaret Theatre and Mohegan Sun Arena.

Mohegan Sun Arena is ranked 3rd in the U.S. and 5th in the world by Billboard Magazine and was the 2008 and 2010 recipient of a Country Music Award for “Casino of The Year.”  Venues Today also ranked Mohegan Sun Arena #4 in 2011 and ranked in the top six of “Top Stops of The Decade” in 2012. Chicago & The Doobie Brothers are teaming up for a co-headlining tour this spring which will stop at Mohegan Sun Arena on Wednesday, July 7th at 7:30pm.

Tickets are $56.00 and $46.00 and go on sale Friday, April 2nd at 10:00am through Ticketmaster.  Ticketmaster customers may log onto ticketmaster.com; call Ticketmaster’s national toll free Charge by Phone number 1.800.745.3000; or visit any Ticketmaster outlet.  Tickets will also be available at the Mohegan Sun Box Office starting Saturday, April 3rd, subject to availability.

Chicago’s roadwork continues behind Chicago XXXII: Stone of Sisyphus, the band’s most recent studio set, which hit shelves in June 2008, fifteen years after Warner Bros. Records refused to release it. The Peter Wolf-produced album peaked at No. 122 on The Billboard 200.

The Doobie Brothers have sold over 30 million albums in the United States from the 1970s to the present.  Their most recent studio effort, Sibling Rivalry, was released in 2000.  The band was honored in 2004 by being inducted into The Vocal Group Hall of Fame.

Chicago and The Doobie Brothers partnered once before, on a 23-date tour in 2008. As was the case for those shows, the two bands plan to unite for several tunes during their upcoming joint outing. On the ’08 run, the bands joined forces on Chicago’s “Free,” “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?” and “25 or 6 to 4,” and The Doobie Brothers’ “Rockin’ Down the Highway” and “Listen to the Music.”

Mohegan Sun Arena is ranked the 4th best venue by Billboard Magazine and was the 2008 recipient of a Country Music Award for “Casino of The Year.” For more information on concerts and other great events at Mohegan Sun, visit mohegansun.com.  For information on this week’s schedule, call the Entertainment and Special Events hotline at 1.888.226.7711, ext. 27163.
