Hot Summer Fun Rolls Out Special Events With A Twist

This summer, Mohegan Sun will showcase a Winning Authors event, a very special Signings & Sightings as well as an all-new Reality Check

 UNCASVILLE, CT (June 30, 2010) – Whether guests are into great mystery books, meeting one of their favorite celebrities or checking out a stunning performance from former stars of the hit Fox series So You Think You Can Dance, they can count on Mohegan Sun’s Hot Summer Fun 2010 as their one-stop destination for some unique and exciting events.  

Hot Summer Fun 2010 begins on July 1st and continues through September 6th and come July 6th, Mohegan Sun will welcome three extraordinary thriller writers, Steve Martini, Kate White and Noah Boyd for a special “Triple The Thrills” Winning Authors event.  Next up, on July 23rd, the boisterous and ever-popular Regis Philbin and his wife Joy will be taking part in a Signings & Sightings promoting their new album entitled Just You. Just Me.  And finally, taking place on August 9th, from So You Think You Can Dance, is the talented Melissa Sandvig and Brandon Bryant set to perform and greet fans as part of Mohegan Sun’s Reality Check.

Mohegan Sun’s “Triple The Thrills” event begins in The Cabaret Theatre at 6:30pm on Tuesday, July 6th where there will be a special live discussion with Steve Martini, Kate White and Noah Boyd followed by a book signing in The Shops at Mohegan Sun.  Spin Street will have Steve Martini’s latest release entitled The Rule Of Nine: A Paul Madriani Novel, Kate White’s new thriller Hush and Noah Boyd’s suspense novel The Bricklayer all for purchase.

On July 23rd, Regis and Joy Philbin will take part in a special Signings & Sightings event from 3:30pm to 4:30pm.  Appearing on television since the late 50s, Regis Philbin is often called “the hardest working man in show business” and holds the Guinness World Record for the most time spent in front of a television camera (nearly 16,000 hours).   Best known for Live with Regis and Kelly and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Philbin is an American icon and one of the greatest entertainers of our time.  He and his wife Joy have routinely joined one another performing on stage and finally they came together in the studio.  Just You. Just Me is a spectacular duet album, collaborated by a couple that has been in love and married for forty years.

Reality Check with Melissa Sandvig and Brandon Bryant is slated for August 9th at 7:00pm followed by a signing at 7:30pm.  Melissa Sandvig is a classically-trained freelance dancer from Los Alamitos, California.  She is the first ballerina to ever finish in the top 10 of So You Think You Can Dance and has finished as high as the top 6.  Melissa is also a certified Pilates instructor and teaches ballet.

Brandon Bryant, a contemporary dancer from Miami, FL began dancing ballet at age ten and was the runner-up finalist to winner Jeanine Mason in Season 5 of So You Think You Can Dance.  One of Bryant’s most memorable dance moments was when he performed for Madonna at her daughter’s birthday party.  Bryant also recently appeared as a dancer in the hit Fox series Glee in the episode “Bad Reputation.”

Regis Philbin and wife Joy to sign copies of their album Just You. Just Me on July 23rd

The boisterous and ever-popular Regis Philbin and his wife Joy will be taking part in a Signings & Sightings event.  This free personal appearance and signing will take place on the Spin Street Stage in The Shops at Mohegan Sun on Friday, July 23rd at 3:30pm.  Regis and Joy will be signing copies of their recently released duet album entitled Just You. Just Me.  All Signings & Sightings events are free and open to the public.  Spin Street will have Just You. Just Me available for purchase leading up to and on the day of this event.

The Connecticut Authors Trail Returns To Mohegan Sun

Connecticut libraries will host a variety of local authors starting July 8th and capping off the tour at Mohegan Sun on September 23rd with Donald Bain

UNCASVILLE, CT (June 17, 2010) – Mohegan Sun has once again teamed up with the Connecticut Authors Trail and is set to cap off the great book signing tour on Thursday, September 23rd with acclaimed author of Murder, She Wrote, Donald Bain.  The Connecticut Authors Trail kicks-off with popular author Jane Haddam. Other library signing dates will feature remarkable authors like Pam Lewis, Douglas Clegg, Denise Gadreau, Susan Campbell, Christine Whitehead, Suzy Graf, Mark O’Neill and M. William Phelps.

Donald Bain’s book discussion will take place at 7:00pm in The Cabaret Theatre followed by a book signing.  Bain is the author/ ghost author of more than 100 books, many of which are best-sellers.  His prolific career began when Bain worked as a writer/director for Peckham Productions where he created films for clients like Avon, American Airlines, Pan Am and IBM.    His work includes both fiction and non-fiction including the popular series Murder,  She Wrote, which consists of 33 original novels.  His airline comedy book, Coffee Tea or Me?, was published nearly thirty years ago and together with its sequels has sold more than 5 million copies worldwide.  Bain also wrote and hosted the nationally-syndicated series The Media Watch. Bain’s appearance and signing at Mohegan Sun will be the final stop for the Connecticut Author’s Trail.

The Connecticut Authors Trail focuses on some of the state’s most brilliant authors and takes pride in bringing together a diverse collection of writers whose styles cover everything from suspense thrillers to romantic novels and self-help to local libraries across eastern Connecticut. All programs are free and open to the public. Passports will be available at the participating libraries throughout the summer as a guide to the author events. Have your passport stamped at each author event for a chance to qualify for an exclusive pre-program Meet & Greet with Donald Bain on Thursday, September 23rd in The Cabaret Theatre at Mohegan Sun.
