UNCASVILLE, CT (July 7, 2025) – Mohegan Sun is excited to invite guests to experience a breathtaking tribute to Mohegan culture and summer excitement with a one-of-a-kind sand sculpture installation, now on display in the center of The Shops at Mohegan Sun, through Sunday, August 31st!

Weighing in at an impressive 10 tons, this dual-sided masterpiece was crafted entirely from sand by the award-winning team at Professional Sculptors, LLC, featuring celebrated artists Abe Waterman and Greg J. “G2” Grady. The sculpture brings to life iconic Mohegan symbols and stories, including: a classic slot machine, the legendary Mohegan Sun rock that greets visitors outside the casino, wolves honoring the Wolf People, and a detailed likeness of former Mohegan Tribe Chief, Ralph Sturges. This immersive display is more than just a seasonal attraction, it’s a tribute to the rich heritage of the Mohegan Tribe and the vibrant energy of Mohegan Sun.

MEET THE ARTISTS BEHIND THE MAGIC:

Abe Waterman, hailing from Prince Edward Island, Canada, is known for his imaginative and unconventional approach to ephemeral art. With a background in snow and ice sculpting, Abe transitioned to sand in 2007 and has since become a leading figure in the field. His accolades include First Place at the 2025 Atlantis Rising International Sand Sculpture Competition, European Champion at the International Sand Sculpture Europe Championship in Belgium in 2021 and World Champion in the Doubles category with Dmitry Klimenko at the Virginia Beach Neptune Championship Sand Sculpting in 2018. His work continues to captivate audiences across North America and beyond.

Greg J. Grady, a New Hampshire native and Marine Corps veteran, is a second-generation sand sculptor who turned a childhood passion into a full-time career. With over 15 years of experience, Greg has traveled the globe creating intricate sand masterpieces. Greg is also known for organizing premier sand sculpting festivals with his father and sharing his journey on Instagram at @ItsJustSand_Sculpture.
