Guests can head to the Wolf Den on Friday, October 24th at 8:00pm for a free performance by Here Come the Mummies, an eight-piece Funk-Rock band of 5000-year-old Egyptian mummies. Known for their “Terrifying Funk from Beyond the Grave,” this high-energy group promises a night of unforgettable grooves and ghoulish fun. On Saturday, October 25th at 9:00pm, Avalon Nightclub will be pulsing with beats from DJ Tommy Carlucci during the Open Costume Party. Sun Wine & Food Fest kicks off on Thursday, January 22nd with Cocktails & Chandeliers with Chris Santos from 7:00pm – 9:00pm at Beauty & Essex. At this event, attendees will get a glimpse inside Beauty & Essex and will step into a world of sophistication and indulgence. Tickets include access to hand-passed cocktails and delicious appetizers. From 9:00pm – 11:00pm, guests can head over to A.T.Y. Bar & Bonbons for Tinis & Treats, an exclusive evening dedicated to the incredible flavors from Sift Bake Shop and A.T.Y. Bar & Bonbons. UNCASVILLE, CT (July 9, 2025) – Special Olympics Connecticut invites thrill-seeking individuals and teams to celebrate a milestone and sign up for its 15th Annual Over the Edge event presented and hosted by Mohegan Sun on Friday, August 29th. During Over the Edge, fearless participants will rappel more than 30 floors down Mohegan Sun’s Sky Tower to support Special Olympics’ year-round sports, health and fitness programs for close to 14,000 athletes of all abilities across the state. Those who wish to keep two feet on the ground may donate in honor of participants and to celebrate the event’s 15th anniversary. Spectators are welcome to attend. Over the Edge draws participants from area businesses and corporations, community organizations and law enforcement departments and is open to all. Several Special Olympics athletes are also expected to rappel again this year. Since its inception, more than 1,000 individuals have participated in the event and over $1.5 million has been raised.
Over the Edge participants must weigh at least 100 lbs. and raise a minimum of $1,250 to participate. No rappelling experience is required, as day-of training and continuous support is provided throughout the experience.

Weighing in at an impressive 10 tons, this dual-sided masterpiece was crafted entirely from sand by the award-winning team at Professional Sculptors, LLC, featuring celebrated artists Abe Waterman and Greg J. “G2” Grady. The sculpture brings to life iconic Mohegan symbols and stories, including: a classic slot machine, the legendary Mohegan Sun rock that greets visitors outside the casino, wolves honoring the Wolf People, and a detailed likeness of former Mohegan Tribe Chief, Ralph Sturges. This immersive display is more than just a seasonal attraction, it’s a tribute to the rich heritage of the Mohegan Tribe and the vibrant energy of Mohegan Sun.

MEET THE ARTISTS BEHIND THE MAGIC:
Abe Waterman, hailing from Prince Edward Island, Canada, is known for his imaginative and unconventional approach to ephemeral art. With a background in snow and ice sculpting, Abe transitioned to sand in 2007 and has since become a leading figure in the field. His accolades include First Place at the 2025 Atlantis Rising International Sand Sculpture Competition, European Champion at the International Sand Sculpture Europe Championship in Belgium in 2021 and World Champion in the Doubles category with Dmitry Klimenko at the Virginia Beach Neptune Championship Sand Sculpting in 2018. His work continues to captivate audiences across North America and beyond.
Greg J. Grady, a New Hampshire native and Marine Corps veteran, is a second-generation sand sculptor who turned a childhood passion into a full-time career. With over 15 years of experience, Greg has traveled the globe creating intricate sand masterpieces.
