Celebrities ‘crystallized’ to appear include cast members of Jersey Shore, American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance and others
UNCASVILLE, CT – Mohegan Sun’s Crystal Anniversary keeps shining with more and more stars scheduled to appear at the Northeast’s premier entertainment destination during its anniversary weekend October 21st – 23rd including cast members from Jersey Shore, So You Think You Can Dance judge Mary Murphy with dancers Gev Manoukian and Jonathan “Legacy” Perez, Season 9 American Idol contestant and Connecticut native Katie Stevens and celebrity chefs and restaurateurs Bobby Flay and Todd English, among others. Mohegan Sun, one of the world’s largest and most spectacular entertainment and gaming destinations, recently unveiled its plans for a month-long celebration in October to celebrate its crystal 15th anniversary including a one-time-only special performance by Jennifer Lopez, a private tribute dinner for “the hardest working man in show business” Regis Philbin, tons of free events with some of the hottest celebrities around, special appearances by Buddy Valastro, The Cake Boss, and so much more.
The weekend also features Rock N’ Roll Hall of Famer Stephen Stills and Country superstar Dierks Bentley performing free concerts in Mohegan Sun’s Wolf Den on October 21st & 22nd, while the General Hospital soap stars of Port Chuck take the stage in The Cabaret Theatre on October 22nd during a private concert.

Tunney’s Besito Mexican Kitchen and Agave Lounge, with three locations in New York and Connecticut, was recently listed as the #1 Mexican restaurant in the tri-state area by OpenTable. ABOUT MARY: An Ohio University graduate, Mary Murphy grew up enjoying basketball and volleyball more than dancing with the influence of three brothers. It wasn’t until Mary moved to Washington D.C. that ballroom dancing would move into the forefront. She landed a summer job at a local dance studio and the studio owner invited her to attend the United States Ballroom Championships in NYC. As she watched the couples perform, Murphy knew this was her calling. She would continue to train and instruct ballroom dance and it certainly paid off when Murphy and her partner were named Austrian National 10-dance and Ballroom Champions for both 1990 and 1991. This was right around the time when Murphy also opened up her own dance school. Her success in competitive dancing would continue as 1996 saw her and a new partner take home the U.S. Open American 9-Dance Championship. Eventually her main focus would be on her dance academy and in 2005 So You Think You Can Dance came calling looking for a knowledgeable and experienced person to both judge and choreograph the show in its 1st season. They found that in Murphy and then some as by season 3 she was named a permanent judge. Fans of the show developed a love/hate relationship with Murphy due to her emotional critiques and loud behavior which helped earn her the title of “Queen of Scream.”
ABOUT GEV: Gev Manoukian, originally from Kazakhstan, is a Hip-Hop/Break Dancerer who first appeared as a featured dancer in the movie High School Musical 2 in 2007. He auditioned for So You Think You Can Dance back in season 2, making it to Las Vegas auditions, but was cut just shy of the Top 20. Not discouraged, Gev practiced the other dance genres he had been lacking and auditioned again for season 4. He achieved the Top 10, making it all the way to week 6.
ABOUT LEGACY: Jonathan Perez, best known as “Legacy,” started dancing at the age of 15 after being inspired by dancers in a skate park in his home town of Miami, Florida. His specialties of dance include B-Boying and Break Dancing which made him an instant favorite with judges and audience alike when auditioning for the 6th season of So You Think You Can Dance. He reached the finals and finished in 7th place. Legacy has also been featured in the movies B-Girl and Step-Up 3D.

From its inception, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young was designed to allow the individual performers great latitude for their solo work following the recording of the group’s live LP Four Way Street, in late 1970, Stephen Stills released his self-titled solo debut. It sparked the success of the hit single “Love the One You’re With.” The album, which featured cameos from Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton, was another smash, as was his 1971 follow-up Stephen Stills 2. In 1972, Stills began performing with a new backing unit, Manassas, which featured ex-Byrd and Flying Burrito Brother Chris Hillman; both their eponymous debut and 1973’s Down the Road continued Stills’ long string of chart successes.
Trepidation will not be part of Dierks Bentley’s legacy. At every turn in his career, he’s done his own thing, whether that meant touring with Jam bands, playing Rock venues or recording with Bluegrass all-stars on platinum Country albums. Now Dierks steps forward with his most artistically daring project yet, the all-acoustic Up On The Ridge – a powerful, beautiful album steeped in the Bluegrass and Roots music that moved Dierks Bentley to be a Country musician in the first place.
Cold burst onto the Rock scene with the release of their self-titled debut album in 1998. They achieved their most successful milestone to date when their third studio album, Year of the Spider, climbed to #3 on the U.S. Rock charts. That album produced the hit singles “Stupid Girl” and “Suffocate.” The band just wrapped up their latest effort, 2011’s Superfiction, and it’s lead single “Wicked World” is currently riding Rock radio airwaves.

ABOUT TRAVIS: Travis Wall began dancing at the age of three at his mother’s dance studio in Virginia Beach, Virginia. At 12, he was already Broadway-bound, cast in the show The Music Man. Wall first appeared as a contestant in 2006 on So You Think You Can Dance’s 2nd season when he was 18. He blew away the judges and viewers alike, walking away with a 2nd place finish. In fact, Wall danced in a Mia Micheals choreographed piece “The Bench” that later won Michaels the Emmy for “Outstanding Choreography.” In 2009, Wall returned to the show, this time as a choreographer for the contestants. In the past 2 years, he has created some of the most unforgettable routines in So You Think You Can Dance history. In 2011, Wall was honored to receive an Emmy Award nomination for his work on season 7.
ABOUT LAUREN: Nicknamed “LoFro” and “Frodie” by her friends in Phoenix, AZ, Lauren Froderman has been dancing since age 3. Years of dedication and training paid off in a big way when at age 18, she was voted “America’s Favorite Dancer” and became one of the youngest contestants to win on the hit reality show So You Think You Can Dance in its 7th season. Her expertise lies in contemporary jazz but it was her ability to quickly learn and perfect a wide variety of challenging dance styles that proved to win over the hearts of not only the panel of judges but of thousands of fans across the globe.
ABOUT KAYLA: Also hailing from a contemporary jazz background, dancer Kayla Radomski is an incredibly gifted performer who became part of the top 20 dancers in the fifth season of So You Think You Can Dance. Live in Wolf Den on October 21st
Joining the stellar lineup of entertainment for Mohegan Sun’s 15th anniversary is iconic performer Stephen Stills. Accompanied by opening act Josh Hisle, Stills and company will rock the Wolf Den stage on Friday, October 21st at 8:00pm. Admission is free, but all guests must be 21 or over.
Stephen Stills is the only artist ever to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice in one night—with Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills & Nash. On the recording side, Stills’ most recent release is 2009’s Live At Shepherd’s Bush (Rhino), which captures the artist in fine form at a 2008 London concert. In 2007, Rhino released the historic collection Just Roll Tape – April 26th 1968—the title’s date references a long-gone day in a NYC studio when Stills recorded 12 demos after his then-girlfriend Judy Collins had finished her session. Lost for 40 years, the tapes contained the first-ever takes of songs that would later become Stills solo hits as well as tracks by CSN, CSN&Y and Manassas, including “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes,” “Wooden Ships” and “Helplessly Hoping.” Stills debuted as a solo artist with 1970’s now-classic album Stephen Stills, featuring the signature song “Love The One You’re With”—the latest album in his solo repertoire is 2006’s Man Alive!.
Stephen Stills is #28 on Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Guitarists Of All Time.” For more than four decades, through his solo work and a as member of the stellar groups Buffalo Springfield, Manassas, Crosby, Stills & Nash and CSN&Y, he has helped shape the popular music landscape and remained one of its most enduring artists. On tour this fall, Stills will perform songs from throughout his career.
