The Wolf Den at Mohegan Sun will thrill this fall, beginning with hard rockers Blue Öyster Cult live on Saturday, October 10th.  Get your cowboy boots ready for Country stars Justin McBride on Thursday, October 15th and Tanya Tucker on Sunday, October 18th.   Florida natives Sister Hazel takes over the Wolf Den stage on Thursday, October 22nd and Pop sensation Five For Fighting with special guest Angel Taylor is in the Den on Friday, October 23rd.  Nothing says Halloween like Ozzy Osbourne tribute band Ozzmosis on Saturday, October 31st.  Thursday, Friday and Saturday Wolf Den shows are at 8:00pm and Sunday shows are at 7:00pm unless otherwise noted.   Admission is free, but all patrons must be 21 or over.
Blue Öyster Cult formed in New York in 1967 and is still heavily touring to this day.  The group is especially well known for songs including “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper,” “Godzilla” and “Burnin’ For You.”  They have sold over 14 million albums worldwide, including 7 million in the United States alone.  The current line-up consists of lead vocalist Eric Bloom, lead guitarist Buck Dharma, guitarist/keyboardist Richie Castellano, drummer Jules Radino and bassist Rudy Sarzo.
Justin McBride, a two-time Professional Bull Riders champion and the top money-earner in the sport’s history, will take over the Wolf Den stage the night before PBR invades Mohegan Sun Arena for the 2009 Mohegan Sun Invitational.  His debut album, Don’t Let Go, was released in 2007.  Out of the album’s twelve songs, McBride took part in writing two; the title track, “Don’t Let Go” and “God’s In Oklahoma Today,” which he wrote about his working ranch in western Oklahoma.
Country artist Tanya Tucker had her first hit at the age of 13.  Over the succeeding decades, Tucker became one of the few child performers to mature into adulthood without losing her audience, and during the course of her career, she notched a streak of Top 10 and Top 40 hits. She has produced a long string of successful albums, several nominations for awards from the Country Music Association and hit songs that include 1973’s “What’s Your Mama’s Name?” and “Blood Red and Goin’ Down,” 1975’s “Lizzie and the Rainman” and 1988’s “Strong Enough to Bend.”
Sister Hazel found mainstream success in 1997 with the release of their second album …Somewhere More Familiar.  A single from the album, “All For You” hit #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remains the band’s most successful single to date.
Five For Fighting became a household name in 2000, due in part to the success of the song “Superman (It’s Not Easy),” which helped propel the album America Town into platinum status.  The 2004 album The Battle for Everything has also enjoyed chart success in the United States with the hit single, “100 Years.”  Five For Fighting are set to release their fifth album Slice on October 13th.
Ozzmosis features a group of musicians who are dedicated to recreating the concert experience originated by the Black Sabbath lead singer Ozzy Osbourne.  Ozzmosis redefines the boundaries of a tribute band through sight, sound and stage show.

Nicknamed “V,” Ballestrini and her popularity have beaconed over the past four years with an emphatic following that has amassed 11.5 million plays on MySpace, with over 120,000 followers and 7.5 million page views. Ballestrini’s Pop-Country sound has generated a wave of praise from a variety of outlets including The New York Times, MusicRow.com, The New London Day, YallWire.com and Aristopr.com. Three Spectacular Christmas Shows At Mohegan Sun

The Beach Boys, Kenny Rogers and the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra in the Arena
Ring in the holiday season at Mohegan Sun with three unforgettable shows.  The Beach Boys Christmas Harmonies and Favorite Hits will be live in the Arena on Sunday, November 29th at 3:00pm.  Kenny Rogers’ annual Christmas & Hits Tour will be in the Arena on Saturday, December 5th at 8:00pm and the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra’s traditional Holiday Pops show with conductor Keith Lockhart will be live in the Arena on Thursday, December 17th at 7:30pm.
Tickets for The Beach Boys Christmas Harmonies and Favorite Hits show are $25.00.  Tickets for Kenny Rogers’ Christmas & Hits Tour are $35.00 and tickets for the Boston Pops Esplanade traditional Holiday Pops show are $50.00 and $40.00.  Tickets for all three shows go on sale Monday, October 5th at 10:00am through Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster customers may log on to ticketmaster.com; call Ticketmaster’s national toll free Charge by Phone number 1.800.745.3000; or visit any Ticketmaster outlet.  Tickets may also be purchased at the Mohegan Sun Box Office starting Tuesday, October 6th subject to availability.
What started out in the early 60s as a garage band in southern California has now evolved into a solid piece of Rock and Roll history.  In 1988, The Beach Boys were among the names inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the group claimed a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001.  This special show will feature The Beach Boys performing everyone’s favorite Christmas classics.
Kenny Rogers is a prolific performer who has produced over seventy hit singles spanning multiple genres and charts.  His awards and accolades form a lengthy list and cover over five decades. He has recorded over sixty-five albums, sold over 120 million albums and is considered the 8th best-selling artist of all time. Rogers’ Christmas & Hits Tour will encompass a variety of his Country hits as well as classic Christmas favorites.
There are many traditions throughout the holiday season, but none as magical as the Holiday Pops. This year, Keith Lockhart and the orchestra welcome the vocal virtuosity of the extraordinary Swingle Singers, a group whose name has become synonymous with flawless excellence and high-level entertainment since their ground breaking debut album Jazz Sebastian Bach in 1963. The current line up of young, gorgeous and talented singers is, of course, several incarnations from the original team – Ward Swingle affectionately refers to them as his “grandchildren” – however the sound remains unmistakably Swingle. The concert also features a special visit from Jolly Ole’ St. Nick and a time-honored audience sing along.
Mohegan Sun Arena is ranked the 4th best venue by Billboard Magazine and was the 2008 recipient of a Country Music Award for “Casino of The Year.” For more information on concerts and other great events at Mohegan Sun, visit mohegansun.com.  For information on this week’s schedule, call the Entertainment and Special Events hotline at 1.888.226.7711, ext. 27163.

JIMMY BUFFETT AND THE CORAL REEFER BAND

SUMMERZCOOL TOUR 2009
Saturday, November 21, 2009
To the delight of Parrotheads Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band return to Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday, November 21st.  The show begins at 8:00pm.
Tickets go on sale Saturday, October 3rd at 10:00am through Ticketmaster.  Ticketmaster customers may log on to ticketmaster.com; call Ticketmaster’s national toll free Charge by Phone number 1.800.745.3000; or visit any Ticketmaster outlet.   Tickets will also be available at the Mohegan Sun Box Office starting Sunday, October 4th, subject to availability.  There is a six-ticket limit per customer.
Jimmy’s upcoming album, Buffet Hotel (one t), is scheduled for release in December.  The title cut has a strong West African influence and was conceived during a trip to the “Festival In The Desert,” a music festival that takes place annually near Timbuktu, Mali.  “It was one of the best musical experiences of my life,” said Jimmy.  It was there that Jimmy ran across the Buffet Hotel, an old colonial era train station/hotel which was the venue for the music scene that exploded in Mali after its independence in 1960.
After Jimmy started writing for Buffet Hotel, he decided to introduce three of the new songs into his 2009 set list. The three were “Summerzcool,” the quintessential beach song, which also became the tour name, “A Lot To Drink About,” a commentary on current events, and “Surfin’ In A Hurricane,” the first surf song Jimmy has ever written.
Mohegan Sun Arena is ranked the 4th best venue by Billboard Magazine and was the 2008 recipient of a Country Music Award for “Casino of The Year.” For more information on Jimmy Buffett and other great events at Mohegan Sun, visit mohegansun.com.  For information on this week’s schedule, call the Entertainment and Special Events hotline at 1.888.226.7711, ext. 27163.
