Mohegan Sun’s ‘Stimulus, Recovery and Rebound’ Package

New hotel packages, free entertainment, and good eats for cheap to keep your social life from a downturn
With a downed economy, everyone is looking for affordable options on everything from groceries and gas to leisure activities. At Mohegan Sun, we are providing one-stop shopping on a variety of affordable options from tasty treats and hotel stays to low-limit games and free entertainment.
Recently, the Northeast’s premier entertainment destination announced plans to have $5.00 minimum bet blackjack available 24/7.  But this is not a new concept for Mohegan Sun. It was the first gaming facility on the complete Eastern Shoreline to offer ½ cent slot machines in 2007 and became the only casino in the country to offer ¼ cent slot machines in 2008. More recently, Mohegan Sun announced ½ cent progressive slots with a jackpot totaling over $190,000.
For non-gamers looking for a steal, Mohegan Sun offers a bounty of options whether it’s a free show in the Wolf Den, a casual lunch for two at Birches Bar & Grill or a couple’s getaway.
Affordable Entertainment
Mohegan Sun’s original entertainment venue, the Wolf Den, rocks the house with free daily entertainment. From Country to Rock to DJs in the Den, the 300-seat venue offers a state-of-the-art sound system and full beverage service, all within an intimate setting. Guests must be 21 or older and seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
In the 10,000-seat Arena, guests can see top concerts and sporting events without having to pay a heavy fee. Artists such as 3 Doors Down, Aaron Lewis and Fall Out Boy all have tickets available for upcoming shows at under $50.00 per ticket. Mohegan Sun Arena is also the home court for the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun. Tickets can be purchased individually starting at $16.00 per person, mini-plans at $100.00 per person and season passes at $255.00 per person.
From Tasty Treats to Super Sweet Deals
It might not be the dollar menu, but Mohegan Sun is serving up a number of affordable dishes at its 30-plus dining outlets. Whether it’s a three-course lunch special at Birches Bar & Grill for $15.00 or an Italian buffet served on the terrace at celebrity chef Todd English’s Tuscany for roughly $18.00, there is something for every appetite and budget at Mohegan Sun. The 130,000 square-foot Shops at Mohegan Sun is also home to over 30 top retailers. Guests can pick up a box of treats for their sweet at Godiva Chocolatier, a nick-knack at The Old Farmer’s Almanac General Store, or bath bomb at LUSH Cosmetics.
A Place to Getaway
In mid-January, Mohegan Sun unveiled seven new hotel packages including spa appointments, gourmet meals, romantic getaways and trips for gal pals, all at a value.  Complete details on these packages are available at mohegansun.com/staying – click on “special packages.” Some restrictions may apply; see website for complete details.
In addition, any guest that books a hotel reservation two weeks prior to their stay, will save $50.00 on the nightly rate. By planning ahead, guests can experience Mohegan Sun’s luxurious 4-diamon hotel at rates starting at just $99.00. Some restrictions apply, and this offer is not valid on hotel packages.  For more information visit mohegansun.com/staying and click on “special packages.”
Good as Cash
It pays to be a Player’s Club member. Each point earned is equivalent to one dollar in cash and can be used to purchase anything on property (excluding gaming) from dinner for two and tickets to a show, hotel stays at a 4-Diamond hotel, appointments at a world-class spa or gas at Mohegan Sun Mobil Gas Station & Convenience Center. Points can also be used at Mohegan Sun Travel to book the perfect getaway like a Caribbean cruise or tickets to a Broadway performance.
Mohegan Sun, owned by the Mohegan Tribe, is one of the largest, most distinctive and spectacular entertainment, gaming, shopping and meeting destinations in the United States.  Situated on 240 acres along the Thames River in scenic southeastern Connecticut, Mohegan Sun is within easy access of New York, Boston, Hartford and Providence and located 15 minutes from the museums, antique shops and waterfront of Mystic Country.  More information is available by calling 1.888.226.7711 or visiting mohegansun.com.

Friday Night Fights Returns to Mohegan Sun

Live boxing action in the Arena on Friday, March 6th
Top welterweight contender Delvin Rodriguez (23-2-2,14KOs), ranked #5 in the IBF, will face off against Shamone “The Truth” Alvarez (20-1-0,11KOs), ranked #15 in the IBF, in a must-see match-up of two of boxing’s top welterweights on March 6th at 7:00pm at Mohegan Sun. The bout, scheduled for twelve rounds for Rodriguez’s USBA Welterweight Championship, will be shown live as the main event on that evening’s ESPN2’s “Friday Night Fights” telecast.
Tickets are $75.00, $45.00 and $30.00 and are on sale now at the Mohegan Sun Box Office and through Ticketmaster.  Ticketmaster customers may log on to ticketmaster.com; call Ticketmaster’s national toll free Charge By Phone number 1.800.745.3000; or visit any Ticketmaster outlet.
Rodriguez who hails from Danbury, CT is coming off a twelve-round draw to Isaac Hlatshwayo on November 17th in Hlatshwayo’s home country of South Africa. The fight was an official IBF eliminator for the #1 spot. Now Rodriguez will defend his USBA Welterweight Championship and look to put himself in the position to challenge for a world championship in 2009 when he collides with Alvarez. Unlike his battle with Hlatshwayo, Rodriguez will have a strong contingent of fans and supporters on-hand at Mohegan Sun.
“March 6th at Mohegan Sun is going to be one exciting night of boxing,” stated Joe DeGuardia, CEO of Star Boxing. “This fight matches two of boxing’s top welterweights in the world going toe-to-toe in what promises to be an all-action affair.”
“I’m excited, this is going to be a great fight with Shamone,” said Rodriguez. “Shamone is very skilled and always comes to fight so I know I will have to be at my absolute best come March 6th. I am looking forward to returning to Connecticut and getting a chance to fight in front of all my hometown fans.  It’s going to be a great night of boxing that no one will want to miss.”
Alvarez is a very skilled, crafty southpaw, whose only loss as a professional came in an official IBF title eliminator to current world champion Joshua Clottey. Since that loss, Alvarez has rebounded, winning a decision in his last fight against welterweight contender, and U.S. Olympian Terrance Cauthen.
“Delvin is a heck of a fighter. I know what I am going to be up against when we face off against each other on the 6th,” said Alvarez. “But if I want to be the best I am going to have to beat the best, and I consider Delvin one of the best welterweights in the world. One thing that I do know though is that it’s going to be a great fight. I am going to be bringing my A game and I expect Delvin to do the same, which will only make for a great fight for the fans in attendance and the fans watching at home on ESPN2 to see.”
“Both of these guys are so hungry right now, they are both in the primes of their careers and they know what a win in this fight, which is going to be nationally televised on ESPN2, does for their careers,” said DeGuardia. “I foresee the winner of this fight challenging for a welterweight championship some time later on in the year. Delvin and Shamone are very similar in the sense that they are both very humble men outside of the ring, but once they lace up those gloves, both of these guys hit a switch and turn into warriors. With so much at stake, this is a must-see match-up for any boxing fan.”
An extremely exciting and talent-packed undercard, with Providence, RI native and 2008 Olympian Demetrius Andrade, will soon be announced.

More Stimulus from Mohegan Sun: Announcing $5 Blackjack Tables 24/7

With President’s Day just a week away, Abraham Lincoln is growing in popularity at Mohegan Sun as the Northeast’s premier entertainment destination will now offer $5.00 minimum bet blackjack 24/7. A new area in Casino of the Earth, located between Seasons Buffet and Sunrise Square, will be designated to the low-limit gaming.

“We are extremely excited to be opening this new low-limit gaming area for our guests,” said Mitchell Etess, President and Chief Executive Officer for Mohegan Sun. “Even in a downed economy, people are looking for ways to enjoy themselves and offering a lower-limit bet helps to do that. It removes the intimidation factor and lets people who might be interested in the game actually have the opportunity to give it a try as most people just starting out are not comfortable placing a high bet.”

From a novice just looking to have a good time to the more advanced player, Mohegan Sun has something for everyone with over 300 table games in a variety of styles and betting dominations.
