S.H.E. x Gary Chaw Crossover Live will be performing at Mohegan Sun Arena Sunday, June 20th.  The show will have two performances; the first at 2:00am and the second at 2:00pm.

S.H.E is a Taiwanese girl group formed in 2001 and named after the first letter of each member’s first name – Selina, Hebe and Ella.  S.H.E. has recorded twelve albums with sales exceeding 4.5 million, and set ticketing records in each of their two concert tours in Asia.  The group received an award for “Best Group” at the Golden Melody Awards in 2003 and is also an eight-time winner of the Global Chinese Music Award for “Best Group” given annually by a group of seven radio stations. 

S.H.E will kick off their first out-of-Asia World Tour at Mohegan Sun with another popular singer, Gary Chaw.  Chaw is renowned for his great stage charisma, wide vocal range and rich voice and has achieved huge success in Taiwan, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore.  He also does a lot of compositions and wrote many chart-topping songs in Taiwan for other singers including Aaron Kwok and S.H.E.   Chaw won “Best Mandarin Singer” at the Golden Melody Awards in 2008 and his most recent concert tour of Asia, “Welcome To My World,” was a great success.

Mayday To Perform Live At Mohegan Sun

Mayday’s D.N.A. World Tour will be stopping at Mohegan Sun Arena on Sunday, April 4th.  The show will have two performances, the first at 2:00am and the second at 2:00pm.

Hailed as one of the pioneers of rock music in Taiwan, Mayday is an Alternative Rock band that was formed in the late 90s with five members, Ashin, Monster, Stone, Masa and Guan You.  Mayday’s songs are written mostly in Mandarin with some Min Nan tracks by Ashin.  They are popular for their student band roots and their ability to capture the zeitgeist of Taiwanese youth in the mid to late 90s. 

Mayday has made no secret of its admiration of the Beatles whom they cite as influencing their ideals of Rock music.  The song “John Lennon” off their fifth album showcases the group’s dream to become the “Beatles of the Chinese World.” Other diverse musical influences include the Irish band U2, the British band Oasis and China Blue. 

The band released its first album under Rock Records on July 7, 1999 and they were nominated for “Best Band” at the 11th Golden Melody Awards that same year.  The band’s second album Viva Love was released in July 2000 and won the award for “Best Band” at the 12th Golden Melody Awards.  The album’s success was followed by a series of concerts called Ten Thousand Youths Standing Up in Taipei City, Zhang Hua and Kaohsiung City.  On March 19, 2009, Mayday kicked off their new World Tour D.N.A. Mayday “Creates” Concert which commenced in Hong Kong and the band released two songs “D.N.A.” and “Unbridled” for the tour.

The first Filipino performance in the Arena on February 28th

Two titans of Philippine music, “The Concert King” Martin Nievera and “Mr. Pure Energy,” Gary Valenciano, will be hosting a spectacular concert live at Mohegan Sun Arena on Sunday, February 28th at 4:00pm.

Martin Nievera is a singer, songwriter and actor from the Philippines and the son of legendary Filipino balladeer Bert Nievera.  He began his singing career in 1982 with his album Martin..Take One which reached platinum status in just five months.  Nievera also has an extensive acting career and has starred in eleven movies and seven television series.  He is currently hosting several television shows including A.S.A.P. and Martin After Dark

Gary Valenciano is a Filipino musician whose energetic dance moves also garnered him the nickname “Mr. Pure Energy.”   He has released 26 albums and won the Awit Award for “Best Male Performer” eleven times.   His unforgettable hits include “Love of Mine”, “Shout for Joy” and “Until Then.”  Valenciano has also performed all over the world and became the first UNICEF National Ambassador of Goodwill for the Philippines in 1998.
