UNCASVILLE, CT (January 5, 2011) – Sun WineFest attendees as well as wine and beer enthusiasts can enhance their weekend with the Sun WineFest Seminar Series presented by igourmet. A Grand Tasting ticket is not required to attend the seminars hosted by Charles Krug Winery, Sebago Brewing Company, Louis M. Martini Winery, Canella Winery and Duckhorn Wine Company. Each seminar will provide unique opportunities to learn about beer and wine from the experts that create them.
Charles Krug’s Sesquicentennial -150 Years at Napa Valley’s first winery,
and a library tasting of rare Vintage Select Cabernets

Hosted by Peter Mondavi, Jr., the tasting will comprise a vertical of Charles Krug’s Vintage Selection Cabernet Sauvignon, which is the winery’s flagship wine, crafted since 1944. Vintage Selection wines are made only in years when conditions are just right, and have borne witness to the long, complex history of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. This remarkable tasting will include vintages from five decades. Each wine will be expertly paired with artisan cheeses from igourmet.com. From the humble beginnings of a college kid labeling bottles in the cellar of a Colorado brewery, to the owner of Maine’s fastest growing craft brewery and restaurant group, Kai Adams will be talking about the history of Sebago Brewing Company, the building blocks of a great beer.

Chocolate & Cabernet Sauvignon: A Love Affair

Presenters Louis M. Martini and Michael Cobb will have guests experiencing the wonderful nuances of chocolate and cabernet. Guylian pure Belgian chocolate, prepared using an artisanal recipe that has withstood the test of time, will be paired with world-class Cabernet from Sonoma County, Napa Valley and Alexander Valley, crafted by third generation winemaker, Michael Martini. Louis Martini Winery was named Winery of the Year 2010 by Wine and Spirits Magazine. This exclusive tasting will be held from 1:30pm to 2:30pm at Bar Americain on Saturday, January 29th. The Truth About Venetians’ Passion for Prosecco

Attendees will have the unique opportunity to learn firsthand from one of its foremost producers the truth about Prosecco, Veneto’s most popular sparkling wine. Presenter Lorenzo Canella will discuss the humble origins to its role in Hemingway’s favorite Bellini cocktail to the recent change in Italian law protecting its legacy. Guests will learn how to distinguish a quality Prosecco and taste the only bottled Bellini and Blood Orange Mimosa on the market.

Duckhorn’s Taste of Terroir

Savor the “Taste of Terroir” as you enjoy this unique exploration of Duckhorn Wine Company. This private, guided tasting will unlock how soil, elevation, weather and farming come together to shape the aromatics, flavors and textures of great wines. Guests will taste through several varietals, older vintages and single vineyards from the wines of Napa Valley, Russian River Valley and the Anderson Valley. An exploration will begin in Napa with the Bordeaux varietals of Duckhorn and the unique blends of Paraduxx. Then migrate towards the wonderful Russian River Valley region and uncover why Duckhorn waited so long to come out with their second white wine ever after 30 years: “Migration Chardonnay.”
Last but not least, guests will end their journey in the Anderson Valley and learn why Duckhorn chose the unique appellation to produce a distinct California Pinot Noir of equal stature to their acclaimed Duckhorn Vineyards Merlot.
