Mohegan Sun celebrates the year of the snake on February 10th
Mohegan Sun is getting ready to celebrate the year of the Snake on Sunday, February 10th. Following the tradition, Mohegan Sun is ringing in the New Year with a variety of events including legendary singers in the Mohegan Sun Arena, a traditional Lion Dance, the Money God, an appearance by the winners of the 2012 Miss NY Chinese Beauty Pageant, special menu items at Sunrise Square and bus giveaways.
The celebration begins with a performance in Mohegan Sun Arena by Chi Qin and pop singer Wen Lan from Taiwan.  The show will take place at 1:00am on February 3rd and tickets are $38, $68, $88, and $108 along with a VIP ticket priced at $138.  Tickets can be purchased online at geni.eventbrite.com and at our bus agents in New York and Boston or by calling 718.509.9499.
Red Envelopes will also be distributed for buses arriving in Sunrise Square at Mohegan Sun. Here, guests who ride the bus can receive cash varying from $5 to $100 in the red envelop. This giveaway starts on February 10th and lasts through February 17th. The Fortune God will visit Mohegan Sun concourse from Noon – 2pm on February 10th for another special Red Envelope giveaway and a photo opportunity.
And we can’t forget about the traditional Lion Dance which will go throughout the property at Mohegan Sun also on February 10th. The Lion Dance has long symbolized the exorcising of evil spirits and summoning luck and fortune. It will start at 2pm heading from Sunrise Square and making its way through The Shops at Mohegan Sun, Casino of the Sky and Casino of the Wind.
The Chairman of the Mohegan Tribe, Bruce “Two Dogs” Bozsum, Mohegan Sun’s President and CEO, Bobby Soper, and Vice President of Asian Marketing, Kelly Leung, will be in attendance, in addition to the Money God and the winners of the 2012 Miss NY Chinese Beauty Pageant.
Also, a team of Kung Fu masters from Calvin Chin’s Martial Arts and Academy in Newton, MA, will perform in The Shops at Mohegan Sun starting at 2:30pm.
Starting on January 21st, the Chinese New Year festive dishes will be served over in Sunrise Square. These include 2LB Ginger and Scallion Lobster for $48, braised pig feet for $18, a grilled Grey Sole with ginger & scallion will be available for $28, crispy half chicken will be offered for $22 and sautéed vegetable medley for $16.  Finally, Garlic Seared Shrimp with Snow Peas Leaves will be on the menu for $26.  For more information on dining at Sunrise Square, visit http://www.mohegansun.com/dining/sunrise-square.html.
