A Washington, D.C. native, Mya burst onto the scene in 1998 with her double-platinum, self-titled debut album, Mya, establishing herself as a defining voice in late-’90s and early-2000s R&B and pop. The album introduced major hits including “It’s All About Me,” “Movin’ On,” and “My First Night With You,” followed by continued success with her sophomore album, Fear of Flying, featuring the signature hit “Case of the Ex.” In 2001, Mya reached new heights as part of the all-star collaboration “Lady Marmalade,” which topped charts worldwide and earned a Grammy Award.

Mya continued to evolve artistically with her third album, Moodring, highlighted by singles such as “My Love Is Like… Wo” and “Fallen,” while expanding her presence in film and television with roles in ChicagoShall We Dance, and an acclaimed run on Dancing with the Stars. As part of the ensemble cast of Chicago, Mya earned a Screen Actors Guild Award, further cementing her status as a versatile entertainer across music, film, television, and live performance.
