Mohegan Sun, one of the premier resort destinations in the United States, has deployed a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) to power seamless wireless coverage and enhanced capacity for guests across key locations, including Mohegan Sun Arena and the gaming and convention facilities at Casino of the Earth and Casino of the Sky. This next-generation network, led by RF Connect, an integrator specializing in wireless connectivity, ensures superior smart device connectivity and supports the three major cellular carriers, offering an unrivaled user experience for all visitors.
Designed to accommodate today’s requirement for ubiquitous high-speed connectivity, the DAS is one of only a handful of deployments nationwide to deliver full 5G C-band ultra-wideband spectrum service for T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon – raising the bar for in-building wireless performance. Whether attending a world-class event at the 10,000-seat Mohegan Sun Arena, participating at a convention, or gaming within Casino of the Earth and Casino of the Sky, guests can now enjoy uninterrupted, high-speed mobile connectivity throughout their visit.

With over 20 years of experience in cellular-based wireless networks, RF Connect designed the DAS to manage capacity and ensure consistent bandwidth and user experience – even when thousands of guests simultaneously use their mobile devices to stream, post, and access data-intensive applications during events and conventions. Native Sons Ltd., a Connecticut-based contractor which performs electrical, life safety and low voltage installations with an emphasis on Native American projects, led the on-site implementation of network infrastructure.

Accomplished Sales Executive to Drive Mohegan Sun’s Comprehensive MICE Operations and Marketing Strategy
Kimberly Simone has been named by Mohegan Sun as the new VP of Sales & Marketing. Simone, who joined Mohegan Sun in 2023 as Director of Sales, brings nearly two decades of expertise in marketing and comprehensive sales within the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sector. In her new role, Simone will spearhead and oversee strategic initiatives for the expansive Earth Expo & Convention Center, the Sky Convention Center, and various other venues across Mohegan Sun and the nearby Mohegan Sun Golf Club.

Since joining Mohegan Sun in September 2023, Simone has played a key role in driving growth to Mohegan Sun’s convention sales and property-wide hospitality. In her new role, Kim will continue to lead Mohegan Sun’s Convention Sales team, focusing on booking the world-class venues like the Earth Expo & Convention Center. Simone is also a graduate of Bryant College in Smithfield, RI, and the Walt Disney World College Program in Orlando, Florda. Simone was also a member of the New York and New England chapters of PCMA (Professional Convention Management Association) and served as a member of the Greater New York Chapter of HSMAI (Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International). Simone also sits on the Executive Committee of the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau Board of Directors. Previous conventions & sales experience include the Director of Sales at Saybrook Point Resort & Marina in Old Saybrook, CT as well as the Director of Resort Sales at Foxwoods Casino Resort from 2019 to 2021. Prior to this role, Simone was the National Sales Manager for the resort, strategically managing sales operations while tracking and analyzing data to strengthen forward-looking strategy.

The fun begins inside the 11,000 square-foot Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook at 11:00am on Derby Day 2025 – where guests can experience the thrill of horse racing’s biggest day. Prizes will be given out to partygoers dressed up in their best Kentucky Derby attire, whether that’s a statement-making hat or extravagant ensemble, or a combination of both. The top prize of this contest will be $100 F&B credit, followed by a runner-up award of $50 in F&B credit. Additionally, all wagers placed at the kiosks during this Kentucky Derby event are eligible for a Mystery Voucher up to $1,000! Each guest placing a $100 Kentucky Derby wager will also receive the commemorative Mint Julep Glass & Kentucky Derby 151 T-Shirt, while supplies last.
Mohegan Sun will expand the party beyond the Sportsbook as the nearby Bus Lobby will offer overflow seating. This seating will be on a first-come-first-serve basis.

“Mut” Mutnansky is an avid handicapper and long-time New England-based sports personality. “Big A” Stabile has more than 25 years of experience covering and handicapping horse racing and Chantal Sutherland is one of the best Jockey’s ever, who has won 24 Graded Stakes victories and has 1,250 wins. Sutherland was also the first female jockey to ride in the prestigious $12 million dollar World Cup in Dubai in 2012. A trailblazer in the industry, Sutherland has also been on the Animal Planet reality show, Jockeys as well as being featured in HBO’s Luck, Vanity Fair, Vogue and World Golf Magazine.
