UNCASVILLE, CT (September 12, 2014)- Mohegan Sun is pleased to announce the promotion of Kevin Lowry to Vice President And Chief Financial Officer. Lowry was previously the Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis.
Lowry began his employment with Mohegan Sun as a Budget Clerk in 1996. From there he progressed through the Financial Department as an Analyst, a Senior Analyst, Budgets and Analysis Manager, Director of Financial Planning & Analysis, Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis and finally his most recent promotion.
Under his new position, Lowry will oversee all aspects of finance for Mohegan Sun. In addition to his previous responsibilities, Collections, Credit and the Cage will now also report to him.
Lowry grew up locally in Groton, Connecticut. He graduated from Fitch High School and completed his education at Mariette College for Business Management with a minor in Finance.

A special ceremony is set for the legendary entertainer Chubby Checker, just before his performance in the Wolf Den on October 10th
UNCASVILLE, CT (September 12, 2014) – Mohegan Sun’s Wolf Den Hall of Fame has been awarded to great acts such as Eddie Money, Little Anthony & The Imperials, America and John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band since its incarnation. The exclusive club recognizes a distinct class of performers whose longevity and dedication have helped make the Wolf Den as successful as it is today. Mohegan Sun is very proud to recognize and celebrate Chubby Checker’s involvement with the Wolf Den and more importantly his passion and importance to music over the last half century.
The induction ceremony will take place on the Wolf Den stage prior to the start of the Chubby’s performance on Friday, October 10th at 8:00pm. Mohegan Sun executives and Tribal leaders will be on-hand to say a few words in Chubby Checker’s honor and to induct him into the Wolf Den Hall of Fame!
Chubby Checker is the only artist to have a song be #1 twice with the huge smash, “The Twist,” which shattered the charts in 1960. The next few years were prolific for Chubby as hit after hit followed. In, 1961, Chubby recorded “Pony Time,” written by Don Covay and John Berry. It went to #1 and stayed on the charts for 16 weeks. Taylor released his breakthrough album Sweet Baby James in 1970. It went triple-platinum and spawned his first top 10 hit, the intensely personal “Fire and Rain.” The following year saw the release of another million-seller, Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon, with the #1 single “You’ve Got a Friend,” written by his longtime friend Carole King. The recording won a Grammy Award in 1971 for “Best Pop Male Vocal.” In 1972, Taylor scored another gold album with One Man Dog, followed up in 1973 with Walking Man. The album Gorilla (1975) included two more major chart entries: “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)” and “Mexico.” Following his final Warner Brothers recording, In the Pocket, Taylor moved on to Columbia Records and released a string of critically praised and commercially successful albums: JT, his 1977 double-platinum Columbia debut; Flag (1979); Dad Loves His Work (1981); That’s Why I’m Here (1985); Never Die Young (1988); New Moon Shine (1991); the double-disc Live album (1993); Hourglass (1998), garnering Taylor his first Grammy Award for Best Pop Album; and October Road (2002)—all certified platinum.
The year 2000 saw Taylor’s induction into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the prestigious Songwriters Hall of Fame. The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences selected him as its MusiCares “Person of the Year” in 2006, and his One Man Band (2007) was nominated for an Emmy Award in the category of “Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Special.” In 2008, Taylor released Covers and Other Covers that features Taylor’s full band and is his own musical interpretation of tunes from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s. In May 2010, Taylor released the Live at the Troubadour CD/DVD of his November 2007 live performance with Carole King at the Troubadour nightclub in Los Angeles. Their subsequent Troubadour Reunion tour was one of the most successful concert tours of the decade. Most recently, Morgan Neville’s acclaimed documentary, Troubadours: The Rise of the Singer-Songwriter was nominated for the Jury Prize at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and was recently broadcast on PBS as part of its prestigious American Masters series.
James Taylor has received honorary doctorates of music from Williams College and the Berklee School of Music. Raised in North Carolina, he lives in western Massachusetts with his wife Caroline and their sons Henry and Rufus.

The Grand Tasting
Sample over 1,000 varieties of wine and beer during Sun WineFest’s main event, the Sun WineFest Grand Tasting, on Saturday, January 24th and Sunday, January 25th. Elite Cru Tasting

The nationwide run will see Slipknot coming hot off the heels of their US live return at their own KNOTFEST, with two unique sets at their very own three-day metal and heavy music destination festival slated for October 24th through October 26th at San Bernardino, California’s San Manuel Amphitheater & Campgrounds. Powered by Rockstar Energy Drink and curated by Slipknot themselves, KNOTFEST will see Slipknot headline the Main Stage on both Saturday, October 25th and Sunday, October 26th, offering fans a taste of the upcoming album with a unique concert experience each night.
