Paul Anka didn’t waste time getting his life in music started. From an early age he sang in a choir, studied piano and honed his writing skills with journalism courses, even working as a cub reporter at the Ottawa Citizen. By 13, he had his own vocal group, the Bobbysoxers. Blinded by determination, he would take his mother’s car and drive to perform at every amateur night he could across the river in Quebec
Soon Paul found himself traveling by bus with the ‘Cavalcade of Stars’ with the top names of the day. He honed his craft surrounded by the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, Frankie Lymon, and Chuck Berry. Anka was the youngest entertainer to ever perform at the Copacabana.
After a few hit songs, Anka confident in his talent as a writer wisely knew that being a songwriter meant the power was in the pen. As a result, he went on to write for Connie Francis, Leslie Gore, and Buddy Holly (including the last song Holly ever recorded, “It Doesn’t Matter Anymore”). If this wasn’t enough, it was revealed upon its release in 2009, that Anka co-wrote Michael Jackson’s posthumous #1 worldwide hit, “This Is It,” which has further cemented his place upon the most prolific and versatile songwriters of any generation.
In April 2013, Anka released his New York Times Bestselling autobiography, published by St. Martin’s Press, entitled My Way. This autobiography is a remarkable story of a decades-long career as an entertainer, actor, and songwriter.
2018, Anka’s collaboration with Michael Jackson and Drake on the song “Don’t Matter to Me” was released on Drake’s “Scorpion”. The song alone had over 400 million downloads and reached the top 10 on Billboard charts.
At 81 years old, Paul Anka continues to write and record. His latest two albums, Making Memories and Sessions, were released in 2021 and 2022 respectively. Accomplished Sales Executive to Drive Mohegan Sun’s Comprehensive MICE Operations and Marketing Strategy
Kimberly Simone has been named by Mohegan Sun as the new VP of Sales & Marketing. Simone, who joined Mohegan Sun in 2023 as Director of Sales, brings nearly two decades of expertise in marketing and comprehensive sales within the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sector. In her new role, Simone will spearhead and oversee strategic initiatives for the expansive Earth Expo & Convention Center, the Sky Convention Center, and various other venues across Mohegan Sun and the nearby Mohegan Sun Golf Club.

Friday, May 2nd brings a viewing party for the Kentucky Oaks races, followed by the main event on Saturday, May 3rd, when Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook guests will be transported to Churchill Downs for every heart-pounding moment of the Derby. At this special Seminar, attendees who place a $50 Derby wager will receive a Kentucky Derby 151 Official Commemorative Mint Julep Glass and a Kentucky Derby 151 Official Logo T-Shirt, while supplies last.

The action continues on Friday, May 2nd when Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook guests can make their picks and take in various races throughout the afternoon, culminating with the Kentucky Oaks race in the early evening, which features three-year-old fillies. Starting at 11:00am, guests can wear their pink and settle in for these exciting races. Once again, each guest placing a $50 Kentucky Derby wager will receive a Kentucky Derby 151 Official Commemorative Mint Julep Glass & Kentucky Derby 151 Official Logo T-Shirt, while supplies last.

The fun begins inside the 11,000 square-foot Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook at 11:00am on Derby Day 2025 – where guests can experience the thrill of horse racing’s biggest day. Prizes will be given out to partygoers dressed up in their best Kentucky Derby attire, whether that’s a statement-making hat or extravagant ensemble, or a combination of both. The top prize of this contest will be $100 F&B credit, followed by a runner-up award of $50 in F&B credit. Additionally, all wagers placed at the kiosks during this Kentucky Derby event are eligible for a Mystery Voucher up to $1,000! Each guest placing a $100 Kentucky Derby wager will also receive the commemorative Mint Julep Glass & Kentucky Derby 151 T-Shirt, while supplies last.
Mohegan Sun will expand the party beyond the Sportsbook as the nearby Bus Lobby will offer overflow seating. This seating will be on a first-come-first-serve basis.

“Mut” Mutnansky is an avid handicapper and long-time New England-based sports personality. “Big A” Stabile has more than 25 years of experience covering and handicapping horse racing and Chantal Sutherland is one of the best Jockey’s ever, who has won 24 Graded Stakes victories and has 1,250 wins. Sutherland was also the first female jockey to ride in the prestigious $12 million dollar World Cup in Dubai in 2012. IN DETAIL: Families looking for an exciting way to spend the day can head to Mohegan Sun Arena on Monday, April 14th and Tuesday, April 15th as Family Days, sponsored by Yale New Haven Health, is bringing an abundance of fun, games, and creativity! Attendees can get inspired at craft time and take home their own masterpieces, test their skills and challenge others to some classic and modern arcade games, and get hands-on with sweet treats when they decorate and devour their own cupcakes with Mohegan Sun’s Culinary Team. Additionally, attendees can enjoy interactive Connecticut Sun basketball activities, and a special appearance from their iconic mascot, Blaze! Discounted Arena concessions and free popcorn will be available for guests to enjoy on both days of the event.
