Concert to take place December 4th; Tickets on sale Friday, September 19th
UNCASVILLE, CT (September 8, 2014) — Prolific musician, singer/songwriter and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, James Taylor, will be playing Mohegan Sun Arena on Thursday, December 4th starting at 8:00pm.
Tickets are $115.00 and $75.00 and go on sale Friday, September 19th through Ticketmaster at 10:00am. Taylor released his breakthrough album Sweet Baby James in 1970. It went triple-platinum and spawned his first top 10 hit, the intensely personal “Fire and Rain.” The following year saw the release of another million-seller, Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon, with the #1 single “You’ve Got a Friend,” written by his longtime friend Carole King. The recording won a Grammy Award in 1971 for “Best Pop Male Vocal.” In 1972, Taylor scored another gold album with One Man Dog, followed up in 1973 with Walking Man. The album Gorilla (1975) included two more major chart entries: “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)” and “Mexico.” Following his final Warner Brothers recording, In the Pocket, Taylor moved on to Columbia Records and released a string of critically praised and commercially successful albums: JT, his 1977 double-platinum Columbia debut; Flag (1979); Dad Loves His Work (1981); That’s Why I’m Here (1985); Never Die Young (1988); New Moon Shine (1991); the double-disc Live album (1993); Hourglass (1998), garnering Taylor his first Grammy Award for Best Pop Album; and October Road (2002)—all certified platinum.
The year 2000 saw Taylor’s induction into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the prestigious Songwriters Hall of Fame. The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences selected him as its MusiCares “Person of the Year” in 2006, and his One Man Band (2007) was nominated for an Emmy Award in the category of “Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Special.” In 2008, Taylor released Covers and Other Covers that features Taylor’s full band and is his own musical interpretation of tunes from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s. In May 2010, Taylor released the Live at the Troubadour CD/DVD of his November 2007 live performance with Carole King at the Troubadour nightclub in Los Angeles. Their subsequent Troubadour Reunion tour was one of the most successful concert tours of the decade. Most recently, Morgan Neville’s acclaimed documentary, Troubadours: The Rise of the Singer-Songwriter was nominated for the Jury Prize at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and was recently broadcast on PBS as part of its prestigious American Masters series.
James Taylor has received honorary doctorates of music from Williams College and the Berklee School of Music. Raised in North Carolina, he lives in western Massachusetts with his wife Caroline and their sons Henry and Rufus.

IN DETAIL: The 5-week contest (final 4 bands compete the week before Christmas) will place some great local bands and musicians on center stage at the Wolf Den at Mohegan Sun. The grand prize is $5,000 and the runner-up will be awarded $1,000. The contest will feature 4 weeks of submissions now through Sunday, October 5th.
Hall Communications will be taking band/artist demo videos at this link. Mohegan Sun and Hall Communications will then select bands/musicians (18 to perform, 2 alternates) to perform live in the Wolf Den starting October 7th and running every Tuesday, excluding December 9th, from 8:00pm – 11:00pm.

Grammy Award® Winning superstar’s first headlining tour in three years will visit Mohegan Sun Arena on November 14th
UNCASVILLE, CT (September 2, 2014) — Hot on the heels of a blockbuster performance at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards and the release of his new single/video “She Came To Give It To You,” global megastar USHER announced today he will tour North America this fall, bringing The UR Experience to fans in 27 cities. Mohegan Sun Arena is set to play host on Friday, November 14th at 7:30pm.

Randy Houser and Eric Paslay join Mohegan Sun Arena show set for Saturday, November 15th
Platinum selling singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley announced that a second leg has been added to his 2014 Riser Tour. The 20 city run begins October 2nd in Stockton, CA and runs through the end of the year with special guests Randy Houser and Eric Paslay on the US dates. The tour rolls into Uncasville, CT for a 7:30pm concert on Saturday, November 15th at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Global Rock juggernauts Slipknot have announced the next phase of their uncompromising history -– the release of .5: The Gray Chapter – the fifth studio album from the Grammy Award® -winning group – arrives on October 21st, while their North American Prepare For Hell tour, promoted exclusively by Live Nation, is set to kick off immediately following the band’s previously announced Knotfest (October 24th – 26th).
