UNCASVILLE, CT (June 9, 2021) – The legendary music group, Earth, Wind & Fire will perform at Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday, December 10th at 8:00pm.

Tickets are $67.00, $57.00 and $47.00 and on sale Friday, June 11th at 10:00am via Ticketmaster.com.

Earth, Wind & Fire are a musical institution. 2020 marked a year-long celebration of their 50th anniversary in entertainment – one that has taken them all around the globe playing sold out concerts. In 2019, their contributions to arts and culture were acknowledged in Washington DC with the prestigious “Kennedy Center Honors”. The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery also awarded Earth, Wind & Fire with its “Portrait of a Nation” prize.

The band has scored eight number one hits, has sold over 100 million albums worldwide and released 23 albums. Eight of those albums went double platinum and hit the Top 10, making them one of the best-selling artists of all time. They’ve won an impressive nine Grammy Awards including one for “Lifetime Achievement” (2012). In 2000, Earth, Wind & Fire was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, cementing their lasting impact on popular music.

For their record-breaking success, they’ve also been awarded with “Lifetime Achievement” honors from ASCAP, NAACP, BET, and have star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Their reach extends to heads-of- state. They have been invited to perform for Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, who said in an interview with Rolling Stone that Earth, Wind & Fire was a “Rhythm and Blues and Pop staple.”

Their achievements are equally matched by their generosity. Over the years, the band has supported various charity organizations including the Make a Wish Foundation, Race to Erase MS, the American Cancer Society, and the Human Society. In 2007, leader Philip Bailey founded Music Is Unity, which helps youth in foster care successfully transition into adulthood and provides music instruments to youth with musical aspirations but lacking the resources. Co- founder, Verdine White has led important initiatives with the Girls & Boys Club of America and opened The Verdine White Foundation in Los Angeles as a mecca to serve youth with music scholarships and other programs.

The music of Earth, Wind & Fire is more alive than ever as they continue to inspire new audiences and thrill those who have been with them from the beginning. Like the elements in their name, Earth, Wind & Fire’s music has withstood ever-changing trends in the world and shows no sign of vanishing as they continue to create joy and uplifting music that will forever reach a sacred universal atmosphere.

It’s a spirit echoed by fellow EWF co-founder Verdine White, who emphasizes the importance of the band’s incredible fanbase in the group’s abiding success.  “The album gave us the opportunity to tie everything together musically and culturally,” he explains. “Without the support of the fans around the world, the Earth, Wind & Fire journey would not have been possible.  We dedicate this album, Now, Then & Forever, to all the fans.”

Earth, Wind & Fire To Play June Show At Mohegan Sun Arena

During the 1970s, a new brand of Pop music was born – one that was steeped in African and African-American styles – particularly Jazz and R&B but appealed to a broader cross-section of the listening public. As founder and leader of the band Earth, Wind & Fire, Maurice White not only embraced but also helped bring about this evolution of Pop, which bridged the gap that has often separated the musical tastes of black and white America. It certainly was successful, as EWF combined high-caliber musicianship, wide-ranging musical genre eclecticism, and ’70s multicultural spiritualism. “I wanted to do something that hadn’t been done before,” Maurice explains. “Although we were basically Jazz musicians, we played Soul, Funk, Gospel, Blues, Jazz, Rock and dance music…which somehow ended up becoming Pop. We were coming out of a decade of experimentation, mind expansion and cosmic awareness. I wanted our music to convey messages of universal love and harmony without force-feeding listeners’ spiritual content.”
EWF would go on to sell millions of records world-wide and have charted countless hits like “Let’s Groove,” “Celebrate,” “Reasons” and “Saturday Nite.” Their concerts are also incredible, as the band is well-known for giving fans one of the most exciting, high-energy and impressive performances of any live act of their era.
