Megadeth Reveals Gigantour 2013 Line Up; Mohegan Sun Arena Plays Host On July 5th

Black Label Society, Device, Hellyeah, Newsted, Death Division
Gigantour — the critically acclaimed package festival founded in 2005 by Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine—returns in 2013 with an incredible new line up for the tour.  In addition to headliner Megadeth, the multi-artist bill features Metal heavyweights Black Label Society, Device, Hellyeah, Newsted and Death Division, all personally picked by Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine. The enormous Metal-Rock tour heads to Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday, July 5th at 4:30pm.
Tickets are $35.00 and go on sale Friday, May 10th through Ticketmaster at 10:00am.  Ticketmaster customers may log on to ticketmaster.com; call Ticketmaster’s national toll free Charge By Phone number 1.800.745.3000; or visit any Ticketmaster outlet.  Tickets will also be available at the Mohegan Sun Box Office starting Saturday, May 11th, subject to availability.  A special Gigantour pre-sale will take place on May 9th also. Check www.gigantour.com for further details. More details available at mohegansun.com/entertainment also.
“This year’s power-packed lineup is probably the best Gigantour yet and we’ve had some pretty massive Gigantours over the years. Gigantour 2013 brings four of my favorite bands, each centered around a superstar. With Zakk, David, Vinnie, and Jason there are going to be fans from Ozzy to Disturbed to Pantera to Metallica and everything that’s Metal in-between! Don’t miss the Metal festival of the summer!” says Mustaine. He founded the tour in 2005 and over the years has had established artists such as Volbeat, Motorhead, Anthrax, Fear Factory and Dream Theater, as well as giving (then) up-and-coming artists Lacuna Coil, Into Eternity and Sanctity their first break on a national festival tour. Gigantour 2013 continues with this tradition.
For a Heavy Metal band that’s been around for nearly three decades, selling more than 38 million albums worldwide, earning numerous accolades including 11 Grammy® nominations, scoring five consecutive platinum albums—including 1992’s two-million-selling Countdown to Extinction—Megadeth’s founder, leader and primal guitar-slinger and lyricist Dave Mustaine feels the best is yet to come. They are about to release their 14th studio album titled Super Collider, June 4, 2013, through Mustaine’s new label, Tradecraft, through UMe, just in time for Gigantour 2013.
BLACK LABEL SOCIETY (www.blacklabelsociety.com)
For over 20 years, Zakk Wylde served as Ozzy Osbourne’s guitarist, a collaboration that produced a string of multi-platinum albums, including Osbourne’s biggest selling album No More Tears (Wylde wrote all of the music) and Ozzmosis. In 1998, Wylde formed the now legendary Black Label Society (BLS), which went on to earn its own fervent fan base (known as the Berzerkers). A limited amount of Black Label Society VIP packages will be available at http://shop.blacklabelsociety.com.
DEVICE (www.deviceband.com)
Experimentation remains the best catalyst for progression. Rather than sticking to any pre-existing blueprints or conventions, modern Hard Rock icon David Draiman of Disturbed and studio collaborator Geno Lenardo [ex-Filter] constructed DEVICE from strands of hard rock, industrial, and electronica.
HELLYEAH (http://hellyeahband.com)
The Dallas, Texas Heavy Metal supergroup HELLYEAH formed in 2006 and features Mudvayne lead vocalist Chad Gray and guitarist Greg Tribett, plus Tom Maxell from Nothingface, Bob Zilla from Damageplan and drummer Vinnie Paul from Pantera and Damageplan. Their self-titled debut is a wide-ranging collection of songs including stomping metal, melodic Hard Rock and fun-loving Southern Rock and has sold over 350,000 copies. Their follow-up, Stampede, was released in 2010 and debuted at No. 8 on The Billboard 200. Their new album, Band of Brothers, is heavier than anything they’ve done before and more emotionally expressive as well as more sonically reminiscent of the bands’ past groups, Pantera, Damageplan, Mudvayne and Nothingface.
NEWSTED (http://newstedheavymetal.com)
Legendary bassist, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and six-time Grammy-Award winner, Jason Newsted is now fronting his very own band, Newsted. The band’s explosive EP, accurately titled, Metal debuted #1 on the iTunes metal chart. Joined by Staind guitarist, Mike Mushok, guitarist Jessie Farnsworth and drummer, Jesus Mendez Jr, Newsted is currently on the road and putting the final touches on a full-length album to be released late this summer.
DEATH DIVISION (https://www.facebook.com/DeathDivision)
Death Division is the new Heavy Metal band out of Hollywood, California, and was founded by bass player Jerry Montano, whose past bands include Danzig, Nothingface, Down & Dirty and tour mates Hellyeah, drummer Tim Yeung who has played with Morbid Angel, Divine Heresy, Hate Eternal and Nile, and features Sean De La Tour on vocals and guitar, and Rick Di Marco on lead guitar. Death Division‘s sound is heavy and intense with a natural sense of melody. Their new single, “I’ve Had Enough,” recently made its debut on Full Metal Jackie and is out now.
Mohegan Sun Arena is ranked 3rd in the U.S. and 4th in the world by Billboard Magazine and was the 2008 and 2010 recipient of a Country Music Award for “Casino of The Year.”  Venues Today also ranked Mohegan Sun Arena #4 in 2011 and ranked in the top six of “Top Stops of The Decade” in 2012. Monster Energy Music As A Weapon 5 Tour Rocks The Sun

Headliners Disturbed & Korn perform live in the Arena on January 28th with special guests Sevendust & In This Moment.
In what promises to be the hottest tour of winter 2011, Disturbed & Korn, two of Rock’s biggest acts, are teaming up to co-headline this year’s Monster Energy Music As A Weapon 5 Tour.  The tour will be stopping by Mohegan Sun for a performance in the Arena on Friday, January 28th at 7:30pm with special guests Sevendust & In This Moment.
Tickets are $39.50 (with a $5.00 discount on the first 200 tickets purchased) and go on sale Saturday, December 4th at 10:00am through Ticketmaster.  Ticketmaster customers may log on to ticketmaster.com; call Ticketmaster’s national toll free Charge by Phone number 1.800.745.3000 or visit any Ticketmaster outlet.  Tickets will also be available at the Mohegan Sun Box Office beginning on Sunday, December 5th, subject to availability.
Jonathan Davis of Korn and David Draiman of Disturbed on how the fourty-five city trek across America came about:
“We’ve both just finished great tours. We headlined Mayhem and Disturbed headlined Uproar. The Disturbed guys came out to see us play in Chicago and we got to talking about doing something together. We both agreed that as cool as those types of tours are, they usually only hit major markets, and we both agreed that a lot of our fans just don’t live in those cities, so we thought it would be cool to team up, put a big show together, and hit every great place that those big tours never get to. Besides all that, with us and Disturbed together, doing full shows with full production…all I can say is IT’S ON!”, said the excited Korn frontman.
“We are thrilled to launch the Monster Energy Music As A Weapon 5 Tour with our good friends from Korn,” says Disturbed’s singer David Draiman. “Every year we try to up the ante, and this year, by having Korn co-headline, we really think it’s going to be our best tour yet. When the idea first came up, one of the main things both bands agreed upon and wanted to focus on was hitting a lot of smaller markets. It’s exciting to bring a show like this to cities that are usually skipped over on some of the other larger Rock tours that only hit the major markets. We have a lot of loyal fans in these cities and we wanted to bring them a show that they deserve.”
On August 31, 2010, Disturbed released their fifth studio album Asylum, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard album chart. Asylum is the band’s fourth consecutive studio album to debut at #1, a feat achieved by only two other Rock groups in history: Metallica and the Dave Matthews Band. An international hit with Top 10 chart bows across the globe, Asylum has earned critical praise from USA Today, which called it “a tight, sharp-riffed ride…the combo of aggressive roar and guitar grace recalls Metallica’s finest moments,” and the New York Daily News, which declared “On Asylum, Disturbed finely weighs power and delicacy, catchiness and punch. The subtle variety of the band’s tunesmanship, and the buoyancy of their rhythms, that makes this hard group so easy to love.”
Over the last sixteen years, Korn have established themselves as one of the biggest bands in the history of Hard Rock and Metal, selling over thirty million albums worldwide. Their latest album, Korn III: Remember Who You Are, on RoadRunner Records, debuted at #2 on the Billboard charts this year, where Metal Hammer said fans would be “wiping away tears of recognition and delight when they blast it for the first, second, and 38th time.”
