Mohegan Sun Appoints Kimberly Simone As New Director of Sales

UNCASVILLE, CT (February 22, 2024) – Mohegan Sun is pleased to welcome Kimberly Simone as the new Director of Sales. Simone brings over 16 years of experience across marketing, business operations and full-scale sales within meetings and conventions. As Director of Sales, she will guide the business operations of the conventions & expo sales team within Mohegan Sun’s robust Convention & Sales department, led by John Washko.

Kimberly Simone is a graduate of Bryant College in Smithfield, RI, and the Walt Disney World College Program in Orlando, Florda. She sat on the board for the CT River Valley chapter of MPI (Meeting Professionals International) as the Vice President of Membership and the Vice President of Marketing and Communications. She also served as a member of the New York and New England chapters of PCMA (Professional Convention Management Association) and served as a member of the Greater New York Chapter of HSMAI (Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International). Previous conventions & sales experience includes operating as the Director of Sales at Saybrook Point Resort & Marina in Old Saybrook, CT, and Director of Sales for Sabo Construction and Coldwell Banker New Homes in Waltham, MA. Prior to her work with Saybrook Point Resort & Marina, Simone had an ascending career at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, CT, most recently serving as Director of Resort Sales from 2019 to 2021. In this role, she secured major convention business, supported budget management and helped steer business development through the pandemic. Ahead of her time as Director of Resort Sales, Simone was the National Sales Manager for the resort, strategically managing sales operations while tracking and analyzing data to strengthen forward-looking strategy.

Mohegan Sun Hires John Washko As New VP Of Convention Sales

UNCASVILLE, CT (July 18, 2017) – Mohegan Sun is excited to announce the hiring of John Washko as Vice President of Exhibitions & Conventions Sales. Washko has held previous executive level roles with Atlantis in Paradise Island, Bahamas and The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. Washko will be heavily involved with the sales and direction of the Mohegan Sun Expo Center, currently being built near the Earth Tower at Mohegan Sun.

In his new role as VP of Exhibitions & Conventions Sales, Washko will oversee the meetings & conventions division at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT, which will include in large part, heading the sales and direction for the new 132,000 square-foot Mohegan Sun Expo Center, slated for a Summer 2018 opening.

Washko, a James Madison University graduate, has been recognized as one of the Top 25 Extraordinary Minds in Sales & Marketing in 2015 by HSMAI (Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International) and in 2010 was awarded “Marketer of the Year” from HSMAI as well.  Washko is an Executive Committee Member of HSMAI’s America’s Board. He also sits on the Advisory Board for Elite Meetings International.

Mohegan Sun Promotes Christopher Friday To Senior VP of Information Systems And Chief Information Officer

Mohegan Sun has promoted Christopher Friday to  Senior Vice President of Information Systems and Chief Information Officer.  In this vital role, Friday will oversee the Information Systems division which includes the Systems Infrastructure and Engineering department, as well as the Customer and Application Services department.
Prior to his recent promotion, Friday was Vice President of Customer Relationship Management at Mohegan Sun where he oversaw the Database Marketing, Direct Marketing, VIP Services, Revenue Management and Market Research departments. From 2005 – 2009, Friday held the role of Director of Program Management at Mohegan Sun, where he managed the IS project portfolio, the information security organization, business continuity, technical training and the Project Management Office.  He received his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and a master’s in business administration (MBA) from the F.W. Olin School of Business at Babson College in Wellesley, MA.
Christopher resides in North Stonington, CT with his wife Elizabeth, son Alexander and daughter Sophia.

Mohegan Sun Appoints New Vice President Of Table Games

Vice President of Player Development and Executive Host of Poker also added
Mohegan Sun is pleased to announce the recent promotion of Ian Davison to Vice President of Table Games. Davison is a passionate day-one employee who recently served as Director of Table Games.  In his position, Davison will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of over 300 table games and overseeing 2,000 employees. He will also be responsible for maintaining maximum gaming product revenue by effectively identifying proper product mixture, positioning and pricing levels.  Davison has over 34 years of experience in the casino industry and, throughout his career, has worked closely with various departments in the daily operations for Slots, Accounting, Human Resources and Marketing.
He began his career in England in 1975 and then worked eleven years at Paradise Island, Bahamas followed by a position with Trump Plaza in Atlantic City.  He joined Mohegan Sun upon opening of the original Casino of the Earth in 1996 as Director of Table Games. 
In addition to Davison’s promotion, Mohegan Sun is also pleased to welcome James McMackin as Vice President of Player Development and Jonathan Hogan to Executive Host of Poker.
In his new role, McMackin will focus on attracting and introducing new customers to Mohegan Sun while also staying involved with the marketing strategies and creative processes in place for existing patrons.  McMackin started his professional career at Trump Castle, Atlantic City in 1993 where he was part of the management team for the marina department as well as serving in a marketing capacity as a Casino Host.  In 2000, McMackin transitioned to Caesars, Atlantic City where he took on roles as Director of Player Development/Casino Hosts.  Just before arriving at Mohegan Sun, McMackin worked at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City as Director of Player Development.  McMackin has sixteen years of experience in the casino industry.
Hogan is the newest member to Mohegan Sun’s Poker Room.  As Executive Host of Poker, he will cater to new and existing poker players ensuring their visiting and gaming needs are met.  Along with an extensive amount of customer relations, Hogan will also focus on various sales & marketing components for Mohegan Sun’s poker room.  Hogan’s experience includes Front Office Manager at Wyndham Midtown Atlanta Hotel where he worked from 2000 – 2003.  He later took on duties as General Manager at Café Kaydance in Norwich, CT from 2005 – 2007.  From there, he joined Mohegan Sun as Casino Host and Executive Host.
