“Rampage” Faces M’Pumbu & “King Mo” Battles Zayats In Light Heavyweight Tourney Opening Round, February 28th At Mohegan Sun

Tickets on sale now through Ticketmaster and the Mohegan Suns Box Office

Bellator MMA  returns to Spike TV with a bang as the promotion kicks off its tenth season on Friday, February 28th at 6:30pm at Mohegan Sun Arena.  The star-studded card includes the tournament debut of MMA superstar Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
Emanating from Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun, the night features Rampage in a Light Heavyweight opening round battle with former Champion Christian M’Pumbu, while “King Mo” Lawal returns to face Russian submission ace Mikhail Zayats. The night will also feature the start of the season 10 Featherweight Tournament. The official sponsors of Spike TV’s Bellator MMA season 10 are Miller Lite and Dave & Buster’s.
Tickets are $70.00, $50.00 and $30.00 and are on sale now through Ticketmaster.  Ticketmaster customers may log on to ticketmaster.com; call any Ticketmaster Charge by Phone number; 1.800.745.3000 or visit any Ticketmaster outlet.  Tickets may also be purchased at the Mohegan Sun Box Office subject to availability.
The event will broadcast live at 9:00pm EST/ 8:00pm CST on Spike TV. The preliminary card will be streamed live and free on spike.com beginning at 7:00pm EST/ 6:00pm CST. Tickets for the event are on sale now at Ticketmaster.com or by visiting the Mohegan Sun Box Office.
After making his mark with his first round knockout victory over Joey Beltran, Rampage is ready to put himself through The Toughest Tournament In Sports and earn a Bellator title shot.
“This is what Bellator is all about,” Rampage said. “I’ve never felt better, and now it’s about getting the belt. Bellator is all about the tournaments, and if that’s what you need to do to
get that belt, that’s what I’m going to do. M’Pumbu is up first, and when I finish him, it’s King Mo or Zayats, and then it’s onto the belt, simple as that.”
For Lawal, the former title contender has heard the critics and is looking for vengeance after suffering his second loss to Emanuel Newton. As the tournament moves closer, King Mo only has one thing on his mind, getting the Bellator Light Heavyweight Title.
“I’m not going to sit here and say I’m changing up my whole game plan, and you are going to see a new fighter,” Mo said. “That’s just not me. I know what I do, I know who I am, and that’s who you are going to see on February 28th, plain and simple. Me. It’s all about getting that belt.”
Bellator MMA, which features The Toughest Tournament in Sports, will showcase five tournaments this season in different weight classes including featherweight, lightweight, welterweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight. The 12-week season, airing on Fridays at 9:00pm on Spike TV, will showcase many of the greatest mixed martial arts fighters from around the world in venues spanning across North America.

Fans Rule In 2014 – Harlem Globetrotters Give Fans the Power To Decide Which Rules Will Impact The Game At Mohegan Sun Arena on February 12th

The world famous Harlem Globetrotters will take fan interaction to a new level when the 2014 “Fans Rule” World Tour comes to Mohegan Sun Arena on Wednesday, February 12th at 7:00pm. Online voting is now open at harlemglobetrotters.com/rule where all fans can choose which new game-changing rules they want to see in their hometown.
Tickets are $72.00, $48.00, $31.00, $26.00 and $19.00 and go on sale Monday, October 7th at 10:00am through Ticketmaster.  Ticketmaster customers may log on to ticketmaster.com; call any Ticketmaster Charge by Phone number; 1.800.745.3000 or visit any Ticketmaster outlet.  Tickets may also be purchased at the Mohegan Sun Box Office starting Tuesday, October 8th subject to availability.
The Globetrotters were the first organization in sports and entertainment to let fans vote on rules when the team introduced the concept last year.  Since the fan response was so overwhelming, the team is doing it again – but with a major twist.
The 2014 online ballot includes three never-before-seen revolutionary rules:

  • Hot Hand Jersey – Both teams will have a “Hot Hand Jersey” they can pass among each other.  The player who is wearing this jersey will receive double points on made baskets.
  • Make or Miss – The quarter begins with only two players on the court for each team.  When a team scores, a teammate may enter the game.  When they miss, the player missing the shot must leave the court, leaving his or her teammates shorthanded.
  • Trick Shot Challenge – Via three challenge flags per team, each coach can challenge the other team to make a trick shot.   If the team makes the trick shot, they earn five points.  If they miss, the other team receives five points.

With a roster showcasing stars such as Special K Daley, Big Easy Lofton, Flight Time Lang, Hi-Lite Bruton, and Dizzy Grant – plus female stars TNT Maddox, T-Time Brawner and Sweet J Ekworomadu* – the Globetrotters’ one-of-a-kind family show features mesmerizing ball handling, an assortment of trick shots, high-flying dunks and precise timing – all with an array of comedy guaranteed to entertain the young and the young at heart.  After virtually every game, Globetrotter stars remain on the court for autographs and photographs with fans.

Brett Cooper Replaces Doug Marshall In Bellator Middleweight Title Fight At Mohegan Sun Arena

Bellator MMA to take place on Saturday, September 7th

After suffering a broken hand in training, Season 8 Middleweight Tournament Winner Doug Marshall will have to put his title shot on hold. Using the Bellator Tournament Championship Replacement Clause for the first time, Bellator fighters and executives voted to determine their choice of which fighter would earn their title shot.
After consideration, reigning Bellator Middleweight World Champion Alexander “Storm” Shlemenko will now face Season 8 Tournament Finalist Brett Cooper at Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday, September 7th.  The night will also feature the opening rounds of Bellator’s Fall Season Middleweight Tournament, the live “Fight Master” Tournament Final, and the return of “The Baddest Man on The Planet” Joe Warren.
The event will broadcast LIVE starting at 8:00pm EST on Spike. The preliminary card will be streamed LIVE and FREE on Spike.com starting at 6:00 p.m. EST. Tickets for the event are on sale now at Ticketmaster.com or by visiting the Mohegan Sun Box Office, with tickets starting at just $30.00 dollars.
Displaying a strong performance in last season’s tournament, Cooper is eager to get in the cage with Shlemenko and not only capture his first Bellator World Title, but also wipe his 2011 loss to Shlemenko off his record.
“My goal has always been the same, get the belt,” Cooper said. “I’m always making improvements and this is an incredible opportunity I’m not going to pass up. When we fought in 2011, it was an absolute war, and I’ve grown into a much different fighter over the last few years. I’m 26 years old, and this is my time to take the next step.”
