Boston Sports Legends Dave Cowens, Andre Tippett, Lou Merloni And Terry O’Reilly Join Special Signings & Sightings

Mohegan Sun will host four days of exclusive autograph signings beginning April 15th
Last year, Mohegan Sun featured an exclusive week-long Massachusetts themed Signings & Sightings series that hosted star-studded personalities like Lenny Clarke, Dwight Evans and Bill Walton.  This spring, Mohegan Sun is doing it again with a great new lineup of celebrities, set to kick off on Friday, April 15th and continuing on through Monday, April 18th.  The signings will take place on the Spin Street Stage in The Shops at Mohegan Sun and will feature WEEI radio personality and former Red Sox player Lou Merloni, Hall of Famer and Celtics great Dave Cowens, New England Patriots Hall of Famer Andre Tippett and Boston Bruins great, Terry O’Reilly. All Signings & Sightings events are free and open to the public.
Framingham, Massachusetts own, Lou Merloni, is a former college baseball standout for Providence College who still holds several single-season and career records for the now-defunct Friars baseball team.  Also a Cape League Hall of Famer, Merloni joined his hometown team, the Boston Red Sox in 1998 and remained with the organization through 2003.  After his playing days, Merloni stayed in the Boston scene by becoming a regular guest on various WEEI sports radio shows, most notably “The Big Show” with host Glenn Ordway.  His insight, knowledge and candor on all sports, especially baseball, is one of the main factors that contributed to him recently being named the regular co-host with Mike Mutnansky on the all-new “Mut & Merloni,” show which airs weekdays from 10:00am – 2:00pm.
Lou will also be on hand prior to this signing, broadcasting his mid-day show with Mutnansky from 10:00am – 2:00pm in the Wolf Den.
A two-time World Champion and seven-time All-Star, Dave Cowens played ten seasons for the Boston Celtics. In addition to being inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame, Cowens was also selected to the NBA 50th Anniversary All-Time Team in 1996. Following his playing career, Cowens spent time as a head coach with NBA teams such as the then, Charlotte Hornets and the Golden State Warriors, and the Chicago Sky of the WNBA. An avid golfer, Cowens currently resides in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Andre Tippett played all of his 11 seasons for the New England Patriots from 1982-1993.  The Hall of Fame linebacker was selected to five Pro Bowls and also holds the Patriots franchise record for sacks with 100.  Tippett had his most dominant years from 1984-1985 where he recorded an incredible 35 total sacks.  That number stands as the highest two-season sack total by a linebacker in NFL history.   Tippett was the NFL’s “Linebacker of the Year” for 3 straight seasons in the late 80s and was also named to the NFL’s 1980s All-Decade Team.   Tippett currently serves as the New England Patriots’ Executive Director of Community Affairs.
Terry O’Reilly is a retired NHL right winger, who played for the Boston Bruins for the entirety of his incredible career.  He was a hard working player recognized largely for his tough play and team first mentality.  He would finish his career after 13 seasons with 204 goals, 402 assists.  The Bruins deservingly retired O’Reilly’s #24 jersey in 2002.  It hangs next to friend, former teammate, and Hall of Famer and fellow Boston Bruins legend, Ray Bourque in the TD Banknorth Garden.
