New Kids On The Block Announce The MixTape Tour

UNCASVILLE, CT (October 8, 2018) – Today New Kids On The Block, the multiplatinum selling Pop super – group, unveiled an epic lineup for their highly anticipated 2019 tour.  NKOTB took to the Today Show plaza to reveal The MixTape Tour with very special guests Salt-N-Pepa, Tiffany, Debbie Gibson and Naughty by Nature.  The five iconic Pop and Hip – Hop acts will hit the road together for the first time ever on a 53 – city tour across North America next summer, stopping at Mohegan Sun Arena on Wednesday, July 3rd at 7:30pm.

To celebrate the event, NKOTB surprised fans by dropping an epic, throwback track, “80s Baby” featuring their new touring partners, Salt-N-Pepa, Naughty By Nature, Debbie Gibson and Tiffany.  The track takes listeners on a nostalgic yet refreshingly modern and fun ride through 80s song references and fresh verses.

Always upping the ante, NKOTB have packaged the ultimate lineup for a once in a lifetime live show experience.  The group will return to the stage after 2018’s touring hiatus to perform fan favorite number one hits like “Hangin’ Tough,” “I’ll Be Loving You (Forever),” and “Step By Step.”  When tour mates Salt-N-Pepa, Debbie Gibson, Tiffany and Naughty by Nature hit the stage, they bring with them top chart hits and legendary catalogues to keep fans out of their seats all night.  The tour is sure to be one of the can’t miss events of the summer featuring an unforgettable night full of smashes spanning across generations.

NKOTB made the announcement on the heels of their SOLD OUT Apollo Theater show celebrating the 30th anniversary of their hit packed, breakout album Hangin’ Tough.  The special one night only engagement sold out within minutes of onsale and saw NKOTB gracing Harlem’s famed Apollo stage for the first time since they debuted “Please Don’t Go Girl” at the Apollo’s notoriously tough amateur night.  The career defining album, Hangin’ Tough produced hits like “Please Don’t Go Girl,” “You Got It (The Right Stuff),” “I’ll Be Loving You (Forever),” and “Cover Girl.”  The crowd erupted when the band confirmed on stage that Hangin’ Tough will get a special anniversary re – issue in early 2019 with new, never been released music.

The Pointer Sisters were one of the first black acts to be played in heavy rotation on MTV. The sisters, Ruth, Anita and June, saw incredible success in the 80s with albums Break Out, Contact and Hot Together. Collectively, the albums produced multiple top 40 hits, including “Neutron Dance,” which rose to #6 on the Pop charts and was included in the movie Beverly Hills Cop. Break Out was certified triple-platinum, making it the biggest selling album of the Pointer Sisters’ career.

Tiffany sold more than 15 million albums worldwide and scored hits like “I Think We’re Alone Now,” “Could’ve Been” and “All This Time.” Now Tiffany’s voice—literally and figuratively— can be heard at its finest on Rose Tattoo, her eighth studio album and the first to fully explore her country music roots. “It’s come full circle,” she says.
A music prodigy, Debbie Gibson exploded on the Billboard Pop Charts at the tender age of 16 with the self-penned “Only In My Dreams.” The “Original Pop Princess” quickly became the youngest person ever to write, produce and perform a No. 1 hit song, “Foolish Beat,” a record she still holds today in the Guinness Book of World Records. The group were one of the pioneers of electronic music whose influence has certainly stood the test of time.
Club Nouveau is a contemporary R&B-Pop band that was formed by record producer/performer Jay King in 1986 in Sacramento, California, subsequent to the breakup of the Timex Social Club. From its debut album, Life, Love, and Pain, which was released in 1986, the group scored four consecutive hits with “Jealousy” (essentially an answer song responding to Timex Social Club’s hit “Rumors”), “Situation #9,” a remake of Bill Withers’ “Lean on Me,” and “Why You Treat Me So Bad.”
This Los Angeles-based synth Pop group, Berlin, founded by bassist John Crawford, singer Terri Nunn, and keyboard player David Diamond, made its first national impression with the provocative single “Sex (I’m A…)” from the gold-selling debut EP Pleasure Victim in 1982. The group was filled out by guitarist Rick Olsen, keyboard player Matt Reid, and drummer Rob Brill. Berlin’s first full-length LP was the gold Love Life in 1984. In 1985, the group was pared down to a trio of Crawford, Nunn, and Brill. Berlin topped the charts in 1986 with the single “Take My Breath Away,” the love theme from the Tom Cruise movie Top Gun.
Lisa Lisa and her band Cult Jam were one of the first freestyle music groups to emerge from New York City in the 1980s. Cult Jam consisted guitarist/basist Alex “Spanador” Moseley, and drummer and keyboardist Mike Hughes. They were assembled and produced by Full Force.
Singer Shannon hit gold with the trendsetting, pulsating dance classic “Let the Music Play” and other similar-sounding hits in the mid-’80s that helped lay the foundation for the ’90s electronica music genre. Born Brenda Shannon Greene in 1958 in Washington, D.C., Shannon grew up in Brooklyn and attended York University, majoring in accounting and minoring in music.
