UNCASVILLE, CT (July 25, 2024) – Special Olympics Connecticut invites thrill-seeking individuals and teams to sign up for its annual Over the Edge event at Mohegan Sun happening throughout the day on Friday, August 30th. During Over the Edge, fearless participants will rappel more than 30 floors down Mohegan Sun’s Sky Tower to support Special Olympics’ year-round sports, health and fitness programs for athletes of all abilities across the state. This marks the thirteenth year that Mohegan Sun will host Over the Edge, which draws participants from area businesses and corporations, community organizations and law enforcement departments and is open to all. Several Special Olympics athletes are also expected to rappel this year. Additionally, Special Olympics athletes will be on hand to cheer participants on and thank them for their fundraising efforts and brave demonstration of support.
Over the Edge participants must raise a minimum of $1,250 to rappel and weigh 100 lbs. or more. No rappelling experience is required, as day-of training and continuous support is provided throughout the experience.

TerrifiCON, Connecticut’s #1 comic book convention, returns on Friday August 16th, taking place once again at Mohegan Sun. This popular Comic-Con event is action-packed for three full days of super- powered awesomeness. TerrifiCON 2024 is bringing no shortage of special guests and TV stars. Kicking off at 1:30pm on Friday, August 16th, guests will have the special opportunity to meet stars from classic superhero TV shows and films, including Michael Rooker– best known for his role as Merle Dixon from the AMC hit series The Walking Dead and Yondu Udonta from Marvels Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. Located between the Riverview and Indian Summer Garages, the Sun Patio is back and better than ever with a brand-new look! Soak in the summer weather in this open-air venue with delicious food and beverage specials that include the All in Orange Whip Canned Cocktail and the Jackpot Juice Hazy IPA. Over 30 free live shows are scheduled at the new & improved Sun Patio with popular tribute concerts every Friday night from June 28th – late September, and the new outdoor Summer Concert Series brings big-time acts like Buckcherry on select weekend nights!
Party on the Sun Patio is back again during Hot Summer Fun with some of the best tribute bands the region has to offer. Over the course of 14 weeks, guests can get mouthwatering beverage specials while dancing to their favorite songs. Every Friday night, doors open at 6:30pm before bands get the party started at 8:00pm. VIP fire pit reservations are available and each fire pit includes a complimentary round of drinks, cocktail service, an Adirondak chair for each guest and a prime view of the stage. The festivities get started on Monday, June 24th, and guests can take advantage of daily Momentum member promotions, exciting special events and 256 live shows in 96 days across the resort. The action runs through August 30th, and includes outdoor tribute acts every Friday night at the new and improved Sun Patio, which now features a brand-new music stage, upgraded fire pits, cozy Adirondack chairs and grassy turf to enjoy lawn games during the festivities.
HOT SUMMER FUN DAILY GIVEAWAYS Momentum members can participate in a new promotion every day of the week! Guests can sign up for Mohegan Sun’s free rewards program at any Player’s Club booth on property. When a friend of an existing Momentum member signs up for a new Momentum account any weekday during Hot Summer Fun, both guests will receive $10 in Free Slot Play! Guests must be 21+ to sign up for Momentum.
On More Money Mondays, Momentum members can win their share of $10,000 cash! Every Monday, one Momentum member will be randomly selected every hour between 10:00am – 7:00pm to win $1,000 cash.
