The Wolf Den at Mohegan Sun has a variety of headliners this June, beginning with Funk legend George Clinton on Friday, June 3rd, followed by Country music artist Chris Young on Saturday, June 4th. Ryan Star brings his Rock tunes live in the Den on Friday, June 10th and Rock band Gin Blossoms will bring their hits to the Wolf Den stage on Friday, June 17th.  Finally, Blues Traveler arrives on Friday, June 24th.  Friday and Saturday Wolf Den shows begin at 8:00pm and Sunday shows are at 7:00pm unless otherwise noted.   Admission is free, but all guests must be 21 or over.
George Clinton is an American musician and the principal architect of P-Funk. He was the mastermind of the bands Parliament and Funkadelic during the 70s and early 80s and is a solo Funk artist as of 1981. He has been called one of the most important innovators of Funk music, next to James Brown and Sly Stone. Clinton is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, inducted in 1997 with fifteen other members of Parliament-Funkadelic.
With an ear toward the past and an eye on the future, Chris Young is quickly distinguishing himself as a newcomer who honors Country music’s best traditions while adding a fresh new chapter to the genre’s legacy. With his rich, warm baritone and penchant for writing relatable, slice–of–life songs, Young’s sophomore project, The Man I Want to Be – featuring his current smash single, “Gettin’ You Home” – is an album that showcases a new traditionalist poised to take his place among his musical heroes.
As the title of the New York rocker’s Atlantic debut provocatively suggests, Ryan Star’s whole life has been building to this point. The songs on 11:59 play out in real time, the stories spin out in narratives that resonate with urgency and truth. Star’s often stripped-bare vocals give the songs an added resonance.
The Gin Blossoms have undoubtedly left their mark on the Rock music map.  Hits like “Hey Jealousy,” “Found Out About You” and “Follow You Down” have earned the Gin Blossoms platinum albums and a Grammy nomination. The band’s fusion of melodic Rock, Folk and Country elements has paved the way for the modern Rock of today.
It’s not every band that’s still staking out new musical territory and embracing fresh challenges more than 24 years into their career, but that’s the case with Blues Traveler. Having long ago graduated from the jam-band underground to mainstream stardom, the iconoclastic combo has consistently stuck to its guns and played by its own rules. For their latest release (and Verve Forecast debut) North Hollywood Shootout, the quintet ventured out of their creative comfort zone to explore some adventurous new horizons. The resulting album is a landmark in Blues Traveler’s large and widely loved body of work, demonstrating the enduring strengths of the band’s songwriting while capturing the spontaneous spirit of their legendary live shows.
