Andy Roddick makes his 1st appearance since announcing his retirement and a cast of superstars play in the Ultimate Miracle Match

Andy Roddick gave himself a bittersweet birthday gift on August 30th as he announced his retirement from tennis and proclaimed this year’s U.S. Open would be his final professional tournament.  The 30 year-old, 20th ranked tennis player in the world exited Wednesday, September 5th from this year’s U.S. Open and had an emotional goodbye to his fans as he lost to the 7th ranked Juan Martin del Potro. Tennis fans will be able to see him compete in one of his final public appearances at the Match For A Cure at Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday, September 14th at 7:00pm.
The headline event is an “Ultimate Miracle Match,” placing Roddick against Miracle Match Foundation founder, leukemia survivor and tennis professional, Bill Przybysz, all while supporting Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and the Miracle Match Foundation. VIP ticket holders and sponsors are invited to attend a gala cocktail reception that will feature a question-and-answer session with the players as well as opportunities for autographs and pictures. Twenty tickets are also being sold for $1,000 each for both beginner and advanced tennis clinics with the celebrity players prior to the main event.
Tickets are on sale now and are available by calling 1.800.745.3000 or online at ticketmaster.com. All general admission seats range in price from $20.00 – $40.00, courtside seats are $65.00 and VIP tickets, which include courtside seats and admission to a pre-match cocktail reception with players are $150.00.

During his career, Roddick racked up 32 ATP World Tour titles, 33 Davis Cup wins and was the #1 men’s tennis player in the world in 2003 when he won the U.S. Open. “Whatever my faults were, I’ve always felt like I’ve never done anything halfway,” Roddick continued. “This was probably the first time in my career that I can sit here and say, ‘I’m not sure I can put everything into it physically and emotionally. I don’t know if I want to disrespect the game by coasting home.'”
