Mohegan Sun Launches New ‘MADD About Entertainment’

2013-06-10

Charity concert headlining Maggie Rose slated for September 27th at Mohegan Sun

Mohegan Sun is proud to present ‘MADD About Entertainment’ in The Cabaret Theatre on Friday, September 27th at 8:00pm. For the past 4 years, Mohegan Sun in conjunction with WCTY, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and Authur Murrary Dance Studios have hosted ‘MADD About Dancing’ – an event where local celebrities were partnered with professional dancers. Over those four years, more than $57,000 was raised to benefit MADD.  This year, the event is back, but with a twist; instead of a dance competition, this year’s event will be a charity concert headlined by up and coming artist, Maggie Rose. Other performances will include 2013 WCTY Talent Show winner, Tim Cote and local vocalist, Tom Prete as well as local comedian Jeff Wade. Authur Murray Dance Studios will also have dancers on-hand to perform in between the acts.
With iconic Country music producers Blake Chancey and James Stroud at the helm, Maggie Rose starts the conversation on her latest album, Cut To Impress by writing almost half of the songs on the album. The remaining cuts are tunes that she has been performing for the past five years – songs that no t only survived her evolution from the young girl, Margaret, to the young women, Maggie, but became part of her musical make-up.
From the flirtatious “Fall Madly In Love With You,” to the musical mini-movie “Looking Back Now,” Maggie shows she has a bit of a dark side, but she doesn’t dwell on it because she has sass, too.  From the opening swampy, gospel-tinted track, “Preacher’s Daughter,” to the debut single, “I Ain’t Your Mama,” she reveals a delightful blend of feminine attitude that will empower her female fans and bring the boys to their knees with desire.
Doors to The Cabaret Theatre will open at 7:00pm. Prior to the start of the concert, guests will have the opportunity to participate in a silent auction. Tickets are $25.00 and go on sale Friday, June 14th through Ticketmaster.com and at the Mohegan Sun Box Office. A small number of VIP tickets are also available for $49.99 and will include admission as well as a Meet & Greet with the talented performers.
Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, so guests are encouraged to come early. For more information, visit mohegansun.com.
