Wreaths Across America Makes Stop At Mohegan Sun

2014-11-25

Mohegan Sun to be first of only two stops in Connecticut on Tuesday, December 9th.

UNCASVILLE, CT (November 25, 2014)-On Tuesday, December 9th, Wreaths Across America will stop at Mohegan Sun as part of their annual pilgrimage from Harrington, Maine, to Arlington National Cemetery. After their 12:30pm arrival, there will be a touch-a-truck event in the Winter Lot followed by a 1:30pm Wreath Ceremony in The Uncas Ballroom and Convention Center.
Wreaths Across America is an organization whose mission- Remember, Honor, Teach- is carried out in part by coordinating wreath laying ceremonies on a specified Saturday in December at Arlington, as well as veterans’ cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states and beyond. Their week-long “Veterans Parade” between Maine and Virginia spreads their message about the importance of remembering fallen heroes, honoring those who serve and teaching our children about the sacrifices made by veterans and their families to preserve our freedoms.
The convoy consists of 150,000 wreaths which make approximately 12 visits to schools, veterans’ homes, monuments and communities along the east coast on their way to Arlington. The wreaths’ journey has become a tradition in itself, allowing locals along the route to share in the emotional and educational experience as the convoy passes through their hometown.
