New Kids On The Block Become The 30th Inductee Into Mohegan Sun’s Walk Of Fame

One of the most beloved and long-time performers at Mohegan Sun Arena, New Kids On The Block, were inducted today into the Walk of Fame

UNCASVILLE, CT (June 12, 2015) – Earlier today, Donnie, Joey, Danny, Jordan and Jonathan of New Kids on the Block entered the Box Office forecourt outside of Mohegan Sun Arena to accept their honor as the 30th Walk of Fame inductees. Senior Vice President of Sports & Entertainment for Mohegan Sun, Tom Cantone and Mohegan Tribal Chairman, Kevin “Red Eagle” Brown, spoke briefly through roars and screams as they introduced one of Mohegan Sun’s most beloved and all-time selling acts.  “We love you all and we love Mohegan Sun Arena every time we play here. It’s also great because it’s halfway between our hometown and New York. We get the best of our fans here!” said Donnie Wahlberg as the cheers grew even louder.
The event took place today just after 4:00pm in front of many of NKOTB’s faithful and shortly from now, the band will take the stage at Mohegan Sun Arena with Nelly and TLC to open, as part of the Main Event Tour.
“Tonight will mark the 9th consecutive sellout for NKOTB and with one more, they will tie Billy Joel’s record. It’s a tribute to the great team here that runs one of the top Arena’s now in the world,” said Senior VP of Sports & Entertainment, Tom Cantone.
Kevin Brown also mentioned how honored he was to take part in presenting one of Mohegan Sun Arena’s best ever, their Walk of Fame star. He also gave praise to the hard work and high level of performers that Tom and the whole entertainment staff provide for fans on such a consistent basis.
The band joins the likes of recently inducted Mohegan Sun Walk of Famers Kevin Hart, Bob Seger, Mötley Crüe, Frankie Valli and so many more.
New Kids On The Block sold more than 80 million albums worldwide — including back-to-back international #1 songs, 1988’s “Hangin’ Tough” and 1990’s “Step By Step” — and a series of crossover smash R&B, pop hits like “You Got It (The Right Stuff),” “Cover Girl,” “Didn’t I (Blow Your Mind This Time),” “Hangin’ Tough,” “I’ll Be Loving You,” and “Tonight.”
Mohegan Sun Arena is now ranked consistently among the top venues in the world according to Billboard Magazine, Pollstar and Venues Today.
