SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Sept. 26, 2015 – Executives with Barrett-Jackson have announced that they will bring the World’s Greatest Collector Car Auction® to the Northeastern United States at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut, June 23-25, 2016. Mohegan Sun, one of the most spectacular entertainment, gaming, dining and shopping destinations in North America, will host the three-day collector car auction and lifestyle event for visitors from around the world. Coverage of the inaugural Northeast Auction presented by Barrett-Jackson will be broadcast live on the Velocity and Discovery television networks.

“As Barrett-Jackson has evolved into a global icon of the collector car hobby, our millions of fans across the world have asked for an event in the Northeast,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “They want the kind of experience that only Barrett-Jackson can deliver at a destination similar to what we offer in Las Vegas. Mohegan Sun is the perfect place to satisfy that demand.”
The inaugural 2016 Northeast Auction marks the first time that Barrett-Jackson has held an event in the Northeastern United States. Coupled with the 14th Annual Palm Beach Auction in April, it will also be the first time Barrett-Jackson has held two collector car auctions on the East Coast in the same calendar year. Over its 45-year history, Barrett-Jackson has consistently provided a world-class automotive lifestyle experience for its bidders, consignors, sponsors and fans. This move to the Northeast, together with the 2015 move to Discovery and Velocity, has shown Barrett-Jackson’s commitment to continuing to be a global leader in the collector car community.
Mohegan Sun is situated on 185 acres along the Thames River in scenic southeastern Connecticut, and is home to three unique casinos, a 34-story, 1,200-room luxury hotel and a world-class spa. It has a golf course, over 85 shops, restaurants and bars, as well as three award-winning entertainment venues, including a 10,000-seat arena.
“We could not be more excited to be hosting the first-ever Barrett-Jackson auction in New England”, said Bobby Soper, president of Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority. “During the inaugural event this June, our property in Connecticut will transform into a car enthusiast’s wonderland with elements of the auction highlighted throughout our 4.5 million square foot property.”
The auction block will be inside Mohegan Sun Arena, ranked among the top venues in the world according to Billboard Magazine, Pollstar and Venues Today. It won Casino of the Year at the Country Music Awards three times and was voted Arena of the Year at the G2E Global Gaming Conference. Mohegan Sun Arena was ranked among the top 10 arenas in the nation, regardless of size.
“Bidders, consignors, sponsors and fans have encouraged us to host a Barrett-Jackson event in the Northeast for quite some time,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “Many of our customers from the East Coast and Canada have visited Mohegan Sun and rave about the venue.
The event is expected to include elements from the famous original Scottsdale auction, such as the Opening Night Gala, Ride ’N Drives & Thrill Rides with Chevrolet, Ford and Dodge, as well as a huge marketplace of vendors and exhibitors.
“An event in the Northeast allows us to cover the four corners of the country and also more easily cater to global clients,” said Jackson. “We expect this event will rival our Las Vegas auction for total number of cars consigned, bidders, visitors, TV viewers and exhibitors.”
