Mohegan Sun’s World Of Holiday Marvels Is Back In Time For The Holiday Season

Festivities include a life-size gingerbread house, holiday décor, a tree lighting ceremony and a special Nutcracker performance

UNCASVILLE, CT – Experience the magic of the season as Mohegan Sun’s World of Holiday Marvels kicks off on Thursday, December 5th. Come discover new tree scenes, ornaments, giant snowflakes and much more.

Starting at 6:00pm on Thursday, December 5th, holiday cookies, cocoa and cider will be available at the incredible life-size Gingerbread House in The Shops concourse. Created by Executive Pastry Chef Lynn Mansel and Mohegan Sun’s Culinary Pastry Team, this 28 foot tall masterpiece, made out of over 20,000 pounds of royal icing and cookies, is a must-see for the whole family. Visitors of all ages can walk through the house to view the small rooms filled with candied decorations guarded by four 7 foot edible nutcracker soldiers.

At 7:00pm, witness the lighting of the outdoor tree on screens throughout The Shops concourse featuring a spectacular indoor fireworks display. Afterwards, The Albano Ballet Company’s production of The Nutcracker will take place in the Mohegan Sun Arena at 7:30pm. Audience members will be captivated by lavish costumes, new theatrical scenery, international stars and a cast of over 100 dancers, making this the perfect evening to get into the holiday spirit.
Throughout the property, Mohegan Sun has set up a variety of holiday decorations. Casino of the Earth features ornaments and illuminated wreaths measuring over ten feet tall.  The Shops concourse has been turned into a winter wonderland with a giant wreath, custom-designed snowflakes suspended over iceberg islands and life-size nutcracker statues. In the hotel lobby, a beautiful decorated tree defies gravity as it stands atop the reflecting pool.

New this year to the marvel collection is the 22 foot tall, handcrafted spiraling Sky Tree located in front of Ben & Jerry’s. Inspired by Mohegan Tribal traditions, this marvel is decorated with intricate beadwork, sculpted clay feathers and natural elements that encompass the spirit of the Mohegan Tribe. Be sure to also check out the fully restored ornament stack at Summer Valet as well as new additions to the Smudge Pot display in Earth Promotions.
