Mohegan Sun is featuring tasty dining specials on December 24th and December 25th
With the holiday closing in fast, Mohegan Sun’s buffet and restaurants are set to offer some delicious menu specials for those looking to grab a bite out with family and friends.
On Christmas Day, Todd English’s Tuscany will offer a Chef’s Tasting Menu which begins with Porcini & Onion Zuppa accompanied by Brioche Croutons and Gruyère Cheese. Diners can then feast on a Herb-Seared Halibut with Garlicky Spinach, Sweet Potato Hash and Lemon Vinaigrette followed by Pastrami Rubbed Duck Breast with Confit Duck Leg and Wild Mushroom Risotto. Top off your meal with a Sweet Grappa-Laced Mini Sponge Cake with Fresh Berries and Maple Gingersnap Gelato. The four-course will be offered at $55.00, ($90.00 with wine pairings) per person and will be served from 11:30am to 10:00pm.
Also on Christmas Day, Birches Bar & Grill will feature a special 3-course meal that starts off with a Soup du Jour or a choice of Garden Salad with Sweet-Herb Vinaigrette or a classic Caesar Salad followed by Baked Stuffed Shrimp with Asparagus spears, Rice Pilaf and Lemon Beurre Blanc. Completing the meal is a Nutcracker Tart with Mixed Nuts, Chocolate Sauce and Candy Cane Bark. This will be offered at $30.00 per person.
On Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, Seasons Buffet will have a variety of selections available for guests. The carving board will include such selections like Sage & Apple Glazed Turkey Breast and Roasted Turkey Thighs. Horseradish Crusted Prime Rib and Pineapple & Clove Glazed Smoked Ham will also be available. Guests looking to enjoy delectable entrées can feast on Baked Stuffed Flounder, Roasted Orange Glazed Chicken and Spicy Thai Scallop & Vegetable Stir Fry. Candy Cane Cheesecake, Cherry Chocolate Chunk Bread Pudding, Nutcracker Tarts and a variety of pastries will be featured for dessert. The buffet will be offered at $16.98 (gratuity not included), plus tax and will be served from 11:00am to 10:00pm. Children can eat for $9.43 (gratuity not included).

Comedian will perform live in the Arena on January 29th
Comedian/Actor Aziz Ansari, from the NBC show Parks and Recreation, is bringing his hilarious stand-up act to Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday, January 29th at 8:00pm.

Ansari released his debut CD/DVD entitled Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening in January on Comedy Central Records with an accompanying one hour special on the network. He recently wrapped production on the feature film 30 Minutes or Less, opposite Jesse Eisenberg and Danny McBride.
Ansari began his career performing stand-up comedy in New York while attending New York University in the summer of 2001. He frequently performed at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, as well as weekly shows such as Invite Them Up. In 2005, Rolling Stone included him in their annual “Hot List” as their choice for the “Hot Stand-up,” and he won the Jury Award for “Best Stand-up” at HBO’s 2006 U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado. In 2007, he created and starred in the critically acclaimed MTV sketch comedy show Human Giant, which ran for two seasons. This led to acting roles in feature films including Funny People, I Love You, Man and Observe and Report.

2011 Jägermeister Music Tour live in the Arena on February 16th
Jägermeister, the brand known for decades of involvement with Rock bands, continues to own the concert circuit with the 2011 Jägermeister Music Tour featuring Buckcherry. The Jägermeister Music Tour will be stopping at Mohegan Sun Arena for one night only on Wednesday, February 16th at 7:30pm in celebration of Buckcherry’s new single “It’s a Party” on their recently released album All Night Long. Buckcherry will rock the 2011 Jägermeister Music Tour with HELLYEAH as direct support as well as All That Remains and The Damned Things. Each concert will also feature a local Jäger Band. Standout talents from Dancing With The Stars are set for a performance and signing on January 18th at 7:00pm
Mohegan Sun’s Reality Check will once again bring incredible dancing talent to the stage when Dancing With The Stars performers Mark Ballas and Chelsie Hightower take part in an all new Reality Check on Tuesday, January 18th. This live event at Mohegan Sun featuring a dance performance and live acoustic performance by Mark Ballas will begin at 7:00pm followed by a signing event at 7:45pm. Best known as the lead singer of the multi-platinum selling Rock band Staind, Aaron Lewis is gearing up to release a solo effort made up of five Country tunes. The album, Town Line, is set to be released in February, with its first single “Country Boy” hitting airwaves on Tuesday, December 7th.
Country music comes naturally for Aaron Lewis. It’s something the Staind frontman grew up with. It’s something that he comes back to. It’s something that inspires him. “We’ve both just finished great tours. We headlined Mayhem and Disturbed headlined Uproar. The Disturbed guys came out to see us play in Chicago and we got to talking about doing something together. We both agreed that as cool as those types of tours are, they usually only hit major markets, and we both agreed that a lot of our fans just don’t live in those cities, so we thought it would be cool to team up, put a big show together, and hit every great place that those big tours never get to. Besides all that, with us and Disturbed together, doing full shows with full production…all I can say is IT’S ON!”, said the excited Korn frontman.

UGLY SWEATER CONTEST
Mohegan Sun really gets into the holiday spirit with the return of the “It’s Not You, It’s The Sweater” Contest. The contest is currently in progress and runs through December 8th at 10:00am. To enter, participants are asked to send a photo of themselves in an ugly holiday sweater to [email protected] and include their full name, email address and phone number. Seasonal festivities will include a 24-foot gingerbread house, fashion show, holiday décor and a tree lighting ceremony
Mohegan Sun’s annual World of Holiday Marvels celebration will bring holiday cheer, festivities and an array of entertainment to guests beginning with a fashion show and a tree lighting ceremony slated for December 5th.
Holiday Fashion Show
Mohegan Sun will host a holiday fashion show featuring fashions and products from The Shops at Mohegan Sun at 4:00pm on December 5th, in the shops concourse. The event will give guests an opportunity to enter for a variety of prizes and check out the latest designs and holiday fashion trends at The Shops at Mohegan Sun. Participating shops include Brookstone, Cachè, Chico’s, Galina’s Boutique, Lux Bond & Green, Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville, Mohegan Sun apparel, Sunglasses USA, Sun Shoes, Swarovski, Tiffany & Co. and Trailblazer.
Tree Lighting Ceremony
Mohegan Sun will kick off the sixth annual tree lighting ceremony on Sunday, December 5th. The ceremony begins at 5:00pm on the rooftop of the Thames Garage including an appearance from Santa and a holiday Acapella performance by talented musicians, What’s On Tap? Following the performance, guests will be greeted with a few words from Mohegan Sun executives and the lighting of the 66-foot holiday tree, located on Mohegan Sun Boulevard.
Immediately following the ceremony at 5:30pm, a fireworks display by Pyro FX will light up the sky. Dollar refreshments will be available including Hot Dogs, Pretzels & Soup which will benefit the New London Firefighters Burn Foundation Inc., as well as complimentary Cider, Hot Chocolate and Gingerbread Cookies. The ceremony concludes at 6:00pm.
In the event of inclement weather, the tree lighting ceremony and fireworks display will be rescheduled for December 6th. All other events will still take place.
28-Foot Gingerbread House
Mohegan Sun’s holiday mainstay returns to The Shops at Mohegan Sun in the form of a 28-foot life-size gingerbread house. Created by Executive Pastry Chef Lynn Mansel and Mohegan Sun’s culinary team, this year’s house incorporates approximately 6,525 gingerbread bricks, four 7-foot soldiers made out of milk chocolate and Rice Krispies®, man-made icing, and white, dark and milk chocolate. Assisted by Mohegan Sun’s culinary team, local children from Mohegan and Oakdale Elementary Schools will assist in the construction process. Visitors of all ages can walk through the home to view the tiny rooms inside filled with a standout stone fireplace made from gingerbread and dark icing grout, chocolate stockings, a holiday tree, a chocolate rocking chair and a chocolate glass with assorted cookies for Santa to enjoy. Topping off the house is a cupola and weathervane with four chocolate chefs.
Holiday photos will also be available on selective dates throughout December as guests will be able get their picture taken next to the gingerbread house.
Mohegan Sun’s Facebook Ugly Sweater Contest
Mohegan Sun really gets into the holiday spirit with the return of the “It’s Not You, It’s The Sweater” Contest. The contest is currently in progress and runs through December 8th at 10:00am. Participants are asked to send a photo of themselves in an ugly holiday sweater to [email protected] and include their full name, email address and phone number.

Holiday Décor
Throughout the property, Mohegan Sun has set up a variety of holiday decorations. Casino of the Earth features ornaments and illuminated wreaths measuring over ten feet tall. The Shops at Mohegan Sun will bring the picturesque New England winter indoors with 17-foot ice light curtains and custom-designed snowflakes suspended over iceberg islands. The hotel lobby will be transformed into a whimsical world brimming with adventure including an 18-foot tree of cascading water in an icy atmosphere filled with frosted trees and friendly forest animals. A 16-foot illuminated wreath and a theatrical lighting display of snowflakes will fall above the already-spectacular Taughannick Falls.
Maps highlighting the World of Holiday Marvels displays can be found at any Player’s Club booth throughout the property and during the tree lighting ceremony. Guests can also visit select outlets in The Shops at Mohegan Sun to purchase a United Way Wrist Band for $2.00. All proceeds benefit United Way programs.
