Mohegan Sun voted the best venue in Connecticut to see a Latin show
Mohegan Sun is pleased to be voted the best venue in Connecticut for Latin shows by Telemundo Hartford and Springfield affiliates owned by the ZGS Broadcasting Group. For three weeks in October, viewers of these television channels were prompted with a 15-second promo to vote online for their favorite venue. Voters chose their favorite venue for a Latin show from six different selections. Mohegan Sun was the clear favorite, capturing 50% of all votes.
Some of the top artists in the Latin genre, from Don Omar and Aventura to Latin Grammy winners Luis Fonsi, Juanes and Marc Anthony have graced the Mohegan Sun Arena stage. Over the past five years, the Arena has hosted nearly thirty Latin shows and entertained over 100,000 Latin music fans. On Saturday evening, SUN WINEFEST 2010’s Celebrity Chef Dine Around features some of the most prominent names in the industry. The event will take place from 7:30pm to 11:30pm in the Uncas Ballroom and will feature a champagne reception hosted by Möet Chandon, fine wine, food pairings, and a silent auction.
Guests will be served signature dishes by the Celebrity chefs themselves including Bobby Flay, Todd English, Jasper White, Robert Irvine, Mary Ann Esposito, Govind Armstrong, Ben Ford, Lydia Shire, Floyd Cardoz, Christina Pirello, Andy Husbands, Betty Fraser, Michael Ginor, Chris Schlesinger, Kim Canteenwalla and Ihsan Gurdal. Throughout the weekend, an extraordinary lineup of wine and beer experts will host various seminars throughout the restaurants at Mohegan Sun. “I Gotta Feeling” February 27th is going to be a good night
Three-time Grammy Award winning group Black Eyed Peas are hitting the road in 2010 in support of their latest studio effort, the multi-platinum #1 album The E.N.D. This show is part of The E.N.D. Vice President of Player Development and Executive Host of Poker also added
Mohegan Sun is pleased to announce the recent promotion of Ian Davison to Vice President of Table Games. Davison is a passionate day-one employee who recently served as Director of Table Games. In his position, Davison will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of over 300 table games and overseeing 2,000 employees. He will also be responsible for maintaining maximum gaming product revenue by effectively identifying proper product mixture, positioning and pricing levels. Davison has over 34 years of experience in the casino industry and, throughout his career, has worked closely with various departments in the daily operations for Slots, Accounting, Human Resources and Marketing.
He began his career in England in 1975 and then worked eleven years at Paradise Island, Bahamas followed by a position with Trump Plaza in Atlantic City. He joined Mohegan Sun upon opening of the original Casino of the Earth in 1996 as Director of Table Games.
In addition to Davison’s promotion, Mohegan Sun is also pleased to welcome James McMackin as Vice President of Player Development and Jonathan Hogan to Executive Host of Poker.
In his new role, McMackin will focus on attracting and introducing new customers to Mohegan Sun while also staying involved with the marketing strategies and creative processes in place for existing patrons. McMackin started his professional career at Trump Castle, Atlantic City in 1993 where he was part of the management team for the marina department as well as serving in a marketing capacity as a Casino Host. In 2000, McMackin transitioned to Caesars, Atlantic City where he took on roles as Director of Player Development/Casino Hosts. Just before arriving at Mohegan Sun, McMackin worked at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City as Director of Player Development. McMackin has sixteen years of experience in the casino industry.
Hogan is the newest member to Mohegan Sun’s Poker Room. As Executive Host of Poker, he will cater to new and existing poker players ensuring their visiting and gaming needs are met. Along with an extensive amount of customer relations, Hogan will also focus on various sales & marketing components for Mohegan Sun’s poker room. Hogan’s experience includes Front Office Manager at Wyndham Midtown Atlanta Hotel where he worked from 2000 – 2003. He later took on duties as General Manager at Café Kaydance in Norwich, CT from 2005 – 2007. From there, he joined Mohegan Sun as Casino Host and Executive Host.

The Wolf Den at Mohegan Sun will continue to thrill this winter, beginning with Canadian Heavy Metal act Anvil live on Thursday, December 10th. Lynda Carter makes her Wolf Den debut on Saturday, December 12th. Country sensation Chris Young is live on Sunday, December 13th and California-based rockers Divide the Day take over the stage on Thursday, December 17th. Wolf Den favorites Big Bad Voodoo Daddy are bringing their Wild & Swingin’ holiday party to the Den December 18th & 19th. Michael Lombardi’s Apache Stone will be gracing the Wolf Den stage on Wednesday, December 30th. Anvil, the hard-hitting Heavy Metal band out of Canada, have released thirteen studio albums over the years and have been cited as influencing many notable Heavy Metal bands including Slayer and Metallica. In 2008, Anvil! The Story of Anvil, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to much critical acclaim. The film documents the band’s road to success and has been hailed as “The Year’s Greatest Rock Movie” by Rolling Stone.
Best known for winning our hearts as Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter is an accomplished singer who has performed to rave reviews before sold-out crowds around the world. Divide the Day are real Rock N’ Roll outlaws. The southern California quintet plays uncompromising Hard Rock with just the right mix of Sunset Strip attitude and cowboy swagger. Band vocalist Joe describes the band’s sound as “western Rock.” He adds, “We make music for cruising on your motorcycle or hanging at the bar. It’s American, and it’s real.”

Michael Lombardi, who stars in the hit TV show Rescue Me, is the founder and lead singer of Apache Stone.
