She released the single “Spirit Of The Knight” with Sony Music in 2002, which became a big hit and led to the highly-anticipated release of her album Magic.  The album showcased a more playful and sexy image of Tsai and her music became more dance-oriented.   The album has sold over a million copies in Asia.   The Chinese media refers to Tsai as “Dancing Diva” after her album of the same name as well as her performance at the 2006 MTV Asia Awards, which featured yoga elements and props such as a ball and a ribbon.  Recently, Tsai incorporated new skills into her concerts such as flying rings and pole dancing in addition to her usual multi-style dances.  Fans can expect to see these new dances in her upcoming concert at Mohegan Sun.

Pop Open the Perfect Bottle for the New Year with Tips From Mohegan Sun’s Wine and Beverage Manager Joseph Vita

This year, compliment your New Year’s celebration with the perfect bottle of champagne. Mohegan Sun’s Wine and Beverage Manager Joseph Vita shares his tips for choosing the ideal bottle of champagne to bring in 2009.

Champagne is Supposed to be Fun

When you hear the word “champagne,” you automatically think of festive celebrations. Every day is festive when champagne is involved and we should enjoy it as much as we can because it accompanies so many foods. One does not have to buy expensive champagne to enjoy it; surround yourself with friends to make the experience all the better.

Know What Champagne is

The French culture is very particular about this because champagne originated in this region. Everything else is considered sparkling wine. From surrounding areas you can get Sekt from Germany, Spumante from Italy and Vin Mousseux from other areas in France.

Know the Different Types of Champagne

1. Méthode champenoise is the name for the exact multi-step process of producing champagne fermentation in the bottle. Look for this on bottles of sparkling wine from the US and Italy.

2. Vintage champagne is made in the year stated on the bottle. Eighty percent of the wine must be from the year stated and is a blend of numerous wines that the master blender puts together to get the style the producer wants. The remaining twenty percent is from reserve wines aged within two to three years that the blender uses to produce a house style.

3. MV – Multi-vintage, These make up the most popular champagnes. The champagnes are blends of wines sometimes with over five different vintages. This allows the master blender to keep a particular style as he fashions various amounts from different years to create a singular year-to-year style.

Understand the Label

Understanding the label will help you identify which champagne will satisfy your friends and family.

1. Brut is the dry style of champagne and is most popular; there is also an Extra Brut which is drier with little or no sugar.

2. Extra-dry is unusual; it’s a little sweeter than Brut.

3. Demi-sac is the sweetest of champagne.

Understand the Style of Wine

Champagne is made of using these varietals: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.

1. Blanc de Blanc is made from Chardonnay. This is crisp and a little lighter in style with notes of green apple.

2. Blanc de Noir is rich, full bodied champagne generally made up from Pinot Noir and Pino Meunier.

3. Rose is made in a variety of different ways. Some add a still red wine to the White Wine Cuvee, or by letting the skins of the Red Pinot Noir/Pinot Meunier grapes soak for a short time with the whites, which is called Pink Champagne.

Jack Cavanaugh’s Latest Sports Memoir Giants Among Men Will Be The Center Of Conversation at Mohegan Sun

Author will discuss and sign copies of his latest book that chronicles the dynamic and awe inspiring New York Giants of the late 50s and early 60s on January 10th.

UNCASVILLE, CT (December 16 , 2008) – Mohegan Sun is proud to announce that the next installment of the exciting “Winning Authors” series will be with famed sports writer Jack Cavanaugh.  The acclaimed author who wrote the highly-received Tunney, has a new book Giants Among Men and is set to host a discussion on Saturday, January 10th in The Cabaret Theatre at 2:00pm to be followed by a signing in the Spring Gateway in The Shops concourse at 3:00pm.

Whether you are a big-time New York Giant football fan or a general sports enthusiast, you will enjoy Jack Cavanaugh’s latest sports tale which is the true story of an inspirational and close-knit team that would go on to change the NFL forever.  The hard-nosed  players led by World War II veteran and Hall of Fame defensive end Andy Robustelli were an invigorating, hard fighting team that represented one of the most legendary and historic eras of football.  Cavanaugh touches upon how this team was built around a collection of players who worked second jobs on top of battling on the gridiron every Sunday.  It was these traits that helped mold the unique bond between the players and fans of New York.  The glory years spanned from 1956-1963 where the Giants would play in six NFL Championship Games.  Jack Cavanaugh’s account of this special team which spawned the coaching gods Tom Landry and Vince Lombardi as well as launching the careers of future Hall-of-Famers Frank Gifford, Sam Huff, Emlen Tunnell and Pat Summerall is one of profound significance for not only sports but one that transcends into historic and cultural importance for a nation.

As part of the “Winning Authors” event, a collaboration between Mohegan Sun and Spin Street, Cavanaugh will host a forum at Mohegan Sun’s Cabaret Theatre.  Included will be a question and answer session where guests can ask him questions about the new book at 2:00pm. A book signing of Giants Among Men will follow in the Spring Gateway at 3:00pm in The Shops concourse.  Both events are free and open to the public.  Giants Among Men is on sale and available at Spin Street and will be available for purchase day of event.

Spin Street, located in The Shops at Mohegan Sun, is one of the nation’s premier high- end music, movies and memorabilia entertainment stores offering thousands of CDs spanning every genre imaginable from the roaring 20s through today and an unmatched selection of DVDs, books and video games.  Spin Street carries an astounding array of personalized and one-of-a-kind pieces of autographed music, film and sports memorabilia and routinely hosts personal appearances by many of today’s musical heroes in intimate after-show CD signings.
