Tony Bennett celebrated his 85th birthday in 2011 with the release of Duets II and made music history by making Tony the oldest artist to ever have a #1 CD on the Billboard album charts. Duets II, followed up Tony Bennett Duets: An American Classic CD, released in 2006. 2012 marked the 50th anniversary of the singer’s signature song, “I Left My Heart in San Francisco,” as well as the release of a new documentary film, THE ZEN OF BENNETT, created and conceived by Tony’s son and manager Danny Bennett. Country superstar returns to Mohegan Sun Arena for back-to-back nights in May
UNCASVILLE, CT (February 9, 2016) – After breaking nine attendance records – many his own – and selling in excess of 1.3 million tickets on The Big Revival Tour, Kenny Chesney wanted to harness the energy of last year’s audiences. This 2016 tour is named Spread the Love to reflect the No Shoes Nation’s passion for living life and loving music and Mohegan Sun Arena is primed to host back-to-back shows, beginning with a Friday, May 13th concert beginning at 7:30pm. Chesney will take the stage again the following evening, on Saturday, May 14th. Special guests for both shows will be ACM “Vocal Group of the Year” nominees, Old Dominion.

Old Dominion are becoming Nashville’s band of songwriters on the verge of their very first #1 with “Break Up With Him.” In addition to penning Chesney’s three-week #1 “Save It For A Rainy Day,” members of the good-vibe group of musicians have written chart-toppers for Blake Shelton (“Sangria”), The Band Perry (“Better Dig Two”), Tyler Farr (“Guy Walks Into A Bar”) and Dierks Bentley (“Say You Do”).

2016 recipient of “Breakthrough Artist” award at Music Biz
UNCASVILLE, CT (February 8, 2016) – Halsey’s Madison Square Garden show on August 13th sold out within a matter of days, but the world’s favorite post-apocalyptic Pop disruptor didn’t want to leave anybody out. Announced recently was a full-scale North American headline tour this summer, concluding at the MSG gig. On this run, beginning July 6th in Orlando, FL, her show will transform arenas and amphitheaters into the delightful dystopia depicted within her full-length debut album, BADLANDS (Astralwerks). Mohegan Sun Arena is set to host Halsey for the first time on Thursday, August 4th for a 7:30pm concert.

Halsey kicked off the new year with the announcement that she would be the recipient of the “Breakthrough Artist Award” at Music Biz 2016 in Nashville, May 18th.
Critics continue to praise her live shows. Consequence of Sound wrote, “The lasting impression of the performance left her largely female audience lingering after the show, beaming in the newfound success of their hero, sure they had witnessed one of music’s biggest rising stars.” Rookie says “Halsey has a knack for bringing people together with her brutally honest and heartfelt music. In return, her fans make her live shows extra spectacular–screaming the lyrics to empowering songs. Def Leppard has postponed the band’s remaining dates on their Winter 2016 tour due to illness. All shows from February 2nd through February 17th, including Mohegan Sun Arena’s February 13th concert, will be rescheduled. The previously postponed dates in Greensboro, NC (January 27th) and Orlando, FL (January 30th) will also be rescheduled. Details on new dates will be announced soon. Keith Thurman to defend WBA Welterweight Title Against Shawn Porter In Blockbuster Showdown of Elite 147-pounders on Saturday, March 12th from Mohegan Sun Arena; Live on CBS at 8:30pm
UNCASVILLE, CT (January 26, 2016) – Mohegan Sun Arena will host WBA Welterweight World Champion Keith “One-Time” Thurman in defense of his title against former champ “Showtime” Shawn Porter in a blockbuster matchup of two of the world’s best 147-pound fighters on Saturday, March 12th on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING on CBS.
The welterweight showdown will air live on CBS at 8:30pm from Mohegan Sun. The event, promoted by DiBella Entertainment, is produced by SHOWTIME Sports® for the CBS Television Network, both divisions of the CBS Corporation. The last primetime boxing event on CBS was Muhammad Ali-Leon Spinks on February 15, 1978.
Thurman (26-0, 22 KOs), of Clearwater, FL., and Porter (26-1-1, 16 KOs), of Las Vegas by way of Akron, Ohio, are both coming off superb 2015 campaigns that solidified the fresh faces among the elite of arguably boxing’s most exciting division. With perennial pound-for-pound champion Floyd Mayweather now retired, the 27-year-old Thurman and the 28-year-old Porter are hungry to stake their claim as the future of boxing.

“One-Time” Thurman, who owns a better than 80 percent KO ratio and knocked out 18 of his first 20 opponents, is considered one of the most avoided fighters in boxing. After unsuccessfully lobbying to fight the best of the division for the past two years, Thurman finally had a breakout 2015.
The hard-hitting Florida native floored former champion and long-time contender Robert Guerrero en route to a convincing 12th round unanimous last March in Las Vegas. He then dominated and bloodied former champ Luis Collazo on July 11th, winning via seventh round TKO. Thurman won the Interim WBA belt with a knockout of Diego Chaves in 2013 and scored consecutive knockouts over Jesus Soto Karass (2013) and Julio Diaz (2014) in his first and second title defenses.
Against Porter, Thurman will now get a chance to prove what he’s been claiming for years – that he’s the world’s best welterweight – in the toughest test of his career.
“Showtime” Porter has built one of the most impressive resumes in the division since making his welterweight debut in 2010. Porter, who surprisingly turned professional as a super middleweight (168 pounds), won the IBF crown in 2013 with an impressive unanimous decision over Devon Alexander.
The physically-gifted and offensive-minded Ohio native knocked out former two-division world champion Paulie Malignaggi with a brutal clean right hand in April of 2014 in the lone defense of his title. Porter lost the IBF belt less than four months after the Malignaggi victory in a close majority decision defeat to undefeated British superstar Kell Brook, but he bounced back with a fifth-round knockout of Erick Bone in March of 2015. Porter scored what many considered an upset victory in his next bout over then three-division world champion Adrien Broner with a clear unanimous decision last June 20th in Las Vegas.
The aggressive, come-forward Porter has built his career as a perennial underdog who relishes in the role. But, with the resume he has built, it’s hard to consider him an underdog anymore heading into this crossroads showdown with Thurman.
