Celebrate Lunar New Year At Mohegan Sun

Welcome the Year of the Rat with Red Envelope cash giveaways, a traditional Lion Dance and more, all starting Saturday, January 25th!

UNCASVILLE, CT (January 8, 2020) – Mohegan Sun is following tradition by celebrating Lunar New Year! Guests can ring in the Year of the Rat with a variety of events including a traditional Chinese cultural arts demonstration and Lion Dance, the Money God, Red Envelope giveaways, special menu items available at Sunrise Square located in Casino of the Earth, the Aaron Kwok de Aa Kode World Tour inside Mohegan Sun Arena and more!

Starting January 25th, Red Envelopes will be distributed to Momentum members with valid ID on Asian bus line runs. The giveaway starts Saturday, January 25th and lasts through Friday, February 7th. During this period, guests who ride the Asian buses can receive a Red Envelope with cash varying from $5 to $100 inside. The Money God will also visit The Shops concourse from Noon to 2:00pm on February 1st for another Red Envelope giveaway and a photo opportunity with the winners from the 2019 Miss Chinese Beauty Pageant! Guests can enjoy Chinese arts and crafts demonstrations such as calligraphy and paper-cutting. Plus, Hong Kong Feng Shui Master Clement Chan will make an appearance and explain the Feng Shui in Year of the Rat. Don’t miss the traditional Lion Dance that will tour through the Mohegan Sun property on Saturday, February 1st! The Lion Dance has long symbolized the exorcising of evil spirits while summoning good luck and fortune. The performance starts at 2:00pm, heading from Sunrise Square and making its way through Casino of the Sky.

Phantasia, located in Sunrise Square, will be serving a festive menu starting Saturday, January 25th. Featured items include the Vigor Dragon, complete with two lobsters; the Rich and Glamorous, made with lettuce, seaweed, oysters and mushrooms; and the Eight Treasures made with lotus root, Taishan cauliflower, sweet beans, mushroom, asparagus and wood ear. Guests can wrap up the celebrations with Mohegan Sun Hall of Famer Aaron Kwok in Mohegan Sun Arena. The AARON KWOK de Aa Kode WORLD TOUR 2020 takes place on Sunday, February 9th at 1:00am. Jenny Tseng’s Farewell World Tour At Mohegan Sun Arena

Jenny Tseng will be celebrating the Year of the Rabbit in Mohegan Sun Arena.  The show will have two performances on Sunday, February 6th; the first at 2:00am and the second at 2:00pm.

Jenny Tseng, commonly known in Cantonese speaking regions as “Yan Nei,” is a Macau-born singer who has been based in Hong Kong for much of her performing career.  With her outstanding singing talent, Jenny first achieved mainstream success throughout the Chinese region during the early 1970s.  Her powerful voice has made her a memorable diva with a career that spans over three decades.  Her repertoire includes both Cantonese and Mandarin songs.  She was awarded “Most Popular Artist Award” in 1984 at the Jade Solid Gold Ceremony, the first singer to receive this honorable award.  In addition to singing, Tseng is a successful entrepreneur and has also acted in several films during the 1970s and 1980s. 
In recent years, Tseng has performed all over the world and embarked on her Farewell World Tour in the fall of 2009, making the end of her performing career and saying goodbye to fans all over the world.
