Nut/Cracked, The Gang Group’s version of The Nutcracker, is part holiday tradition and part laugh-out-loud comedy, with unforgettable daning. It arrives at Mohegan Sun’s Cabaret Theatre (The Cab) for back-to-back dates beginning Friday, December 4th. With jazz, tap, ballet and a cheeky dose of humor, these family friendly shows are slated for 7:00pm, with tickets on-sale this Friday, August 28th via Ticketmaster.
Nut/Cracked is a genre blending celebration of the winter holidays, as The Bang Group & Choreographer David Parker liberate the famous ballet from its plot and tradition. The show seeks a new identity as a free-wheeling, genre-fluid vaudeville which breaks apart elements of the holiday season: surprise, anticipation, greed, community, generosity, and delight in a series of dances drawing inspiration from all corners of the dance canon—tap riffs and en pointe ballet by way of bubble wrap, disco, and Chinese take-out noodles, with modern and post-modern dance, disco, social forms and pure invention. Nothing is sacred as Nut/Cracked twists and melds various dance traditions into an ode to American eclecticism that honors the power of the human urge to dance while riding Tchaikovsky’s voluptuous waves of rhythm.
Praised by The New York Times as “immensely entertaining” and “intensely musical,” this production combines humor and artistry to leave audiences seeing The Nutcracker in a whole new light.

Wolf Den Holiday Entertainment Lineup | The Wolf Den will also be rockin’ with holiday entertainment throughout December. Guests can check out Christmas with The Nelsons on Friday, December 13th at 8:00pm, Merry Christmas Darling Carpenters’ Christmas starring Michelle Berting Brett on Saturday, December 21st at 8:00pm, The Cartells on Tuesday, December 24th at 7:00pm, and Boogie Wonder Band on Tuesday, December 31st at 8:00pm and 11:00pm. All guests must be 21+ to enter the Wolf Den.
Food & Beverage Offerings| Guests can indulge in mouthwatering food & beverage specials over the course of Countdown to Cheer. Bobby’s Burger Palace Drink of the Month is a special Dulce de Leche Milkshake for $8. Throughout December, The Crafty Stir Café will feature a Frosty Fusions drink of the week for $14; offerings include Pumpkin Cheesecake (December 1st – 7th), Peppermint Hot Chocolate (December 8th – 14th), Melted Snowman (December 15th – 21st), and Cousin Eddie’s Eggnog (December 22nd – 28th). On select days throughout the month, TAO Asian Bistro & Lounge will offer a Pu-Pu Plater for $30 which includes one piece of crispy tuna, satay bass, chicken satay, gyoza, and lollipop wing. From Monday, December 9th through Thursday, December 12th, Todd English’s Tuscany will have a $50 prix fixe menu featuring a Holiday Salad, Short Rib Ravioli, and Pink Peppermint Stick Ice Cream. On Saturday, December 14th, Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook will offer Ginger Snap Wings as a Countdown to Cheer special. For those who miss out on this tasty special on December 14th, they have another shot to enjoy them at Bow & Arrow Sports Bar from Tuesday, December 17th through Thursday, December 19th. Lastly, Todd English’s Tuscany and TAO Asian Bistro & Lounge will have Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dining specials available for guests. At Todd English’s Tuscany for dinner, guests can pick between a Roasted Apple & Fennel Stuffed Pork Chop ($40), 14 oz. Bone-in Grilled Veal Chop ($65), and Lamb Bolognese ($36). Over at TAO Asian Bistro & Lounge, guests can try the Five Golden Rings special for $30.
RumChata Holiday Bar Cart | Guests can treat themselves to decadent cocktails and satisfy their sugary cravings with RumChata during Countdown to Cheer! The RumChata Holiday Bar Cart will be available in different areas of the property on select days. Follow the cart and indulge in irresistible sweet treats!
Holiday Gift Card Promotion | Guests can snag some gifts for their loved ones by taking advantage of the Holiday Gift Card Promotion! For every $100 spent on a Mohegan Sun digital gift card (limit $500), guests will receive a free $20 bonus digital gift card. The Holiday Gift Card Promotion begins on Friday, December 13th at 6:00am and ends on Wednesday, December 25th at Midnight.
