UNCASVILLE, CT (February 25, 2020) – Comedian Dave Chappelle is coming to Mohegan Sun Arena’s stage for back-to-back stand-up shows on Saturday, May 9th at 7:00pm and 10:00pm.
Tickets are $249.50, $199.50, $149.50, and $99.50 and go on sale Friday, February 28th at 10:00am through Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster customers may log on to ticketmaster.com. Tickets will also be available at the Mohegan Sun Box Office beginning Saturday, February 29th at 10:00am, subject to availability.
Dave Chappelle is an internationally recognized stand-up comedian and actor known for his trademark wit and sharp, irreverent social commentary. Arguably the most-touring comic on the circuit, Chappelle has performed more than 1,600 concerts worldwide in the past four years, selling out shows within minutes of their announcements.
The past few years have been banner for Chappelle. In 2019, he joined the coveted class of recipients of the Mark Twain Prize for “American Humor,” the highest award in comedy. Additionally, he received Grammy awards for “Best Comedy Album” for his last three Netflix specials: Sticks and Stones (2019), Equanimity & The Bird Revelation (2018), The Age Of Spin & Deep In The Heart Of Texas (2017) which were delivered on vinyl as double-feature albums. In 2017, Chappelle celebrated his 30th year in comedy with a residency at New York’s Radio City Music Hall, selling more than 90,000 tickets and performing 16 shows that included 58 guests representing the biggest names in comedy and music. That year, he also received his first Emmy Award for his debut episode on Saturday Night Live. His memorable, panoramic monologue was the comic relief the country needed following the 2016 Presidential election that reflected our nation’s deep racial divide. Touted as ‘the comedian’s comedian” by People, Maniscalco finds himself “at the vanguard of a live comedy revolution” according to Pollstar. And the man NBC Nightly News called “comedy’s new superstar” is showing no signs of slowing down.
“There’s nothing like going to a live show and seeing it in real life,” Maniscalco says in a recent interview with Forbes, who named him as one of the Top 10 highest-grossing stand-up comedians in the world in 2019. “Is there a comedy bubble that’s going to pop soon? Yet to be seen, but as I’ve been in this business, it has gotten progressively better each year and I don’t see it slowing down.”
Not only has the star power of Maniscalco rocketed upward in the past few years thanks to shows described by Billboard as “devastatingly full force comedy,” but also due to his high energy Netflix Original special, Stay Hungry. The special, which was taped over a span of five sold-out shows at the legendary Radio City Music Hall, had Maniscalco playing for a total of 28,312 long-time fans and early believers in his unique comedic voice.
Vulture recently said of the entertainer’s journey to success, “Maniscalco, without a breakout TV or film role, built a tremendous fan base the old-fashioned way: one joke at a time, one audience at a time.” Although he may not have started his career in film, Maniscalco’s loyal fans will continue to see more acting roles from him with a performance opposite Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci in Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman. Chris Tucker is best known for playing the role of Detective James Carter in the Rush Hour film series. He became a favorite on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam in the 1990s and came to prominence in his first starring role, the 1995 film cult classic Friday starring alongside Ice Cube. In 1997, Tucker embarked on his first production as executive producer and co-starred in the hit movie, Money Talks and shortly after appeared in the highly successful Luc Besson’s The Fifth Element.
In 2006, Tucker negotiated an unprecedented $25 million salary to appear in Rush Hour 3, which at the time made him the highest paid actor in Hollywood. Chris Tucker co-starred in the 2013 Oscar nominated film Silver Linings Playbook. His first stand-up film, Chris Tucker Live, was released exclusively on Netflix in 2015, and marked the first project that Tucker has starred in and executively produced through his company, Chris Tucker Entertainment. Tucker’s latest film is Ang Lee’s powerful Iraq war-centric film, Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk.
