CPTV And WNPR Present The First Annual Craft Beer And Chili Challenge At Mohegan Sun

A new event crowning the best beer and chili in the State on August 22nd

CPTV (Connecticut Public Television) and WNPR (Connecticut Public Radio) have been known for producing programs and special events that celebrate fine wine and rich culinary pursuits – from Eating CT to The Faith Middleton Show’s Food Schmooze to signature event wine dinners. Now the public broadcasting networks are turning their attention to another culinary pursuit: beer and chili!

Many breweries and restaurants have signed on to participate in CPTV and WNPR’s first annual Craft Beer and Chili Challenge event inside Mohegan Sun Arena in on Sunday, August 22nd from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. So far, forty breweries and almost fifteen Connecticut restaurants will be offering their craft beers and chilis for visitors to taste and enjoy.

Visitors to the event will be able to sample a vast selection of craft-brewed beers as well as a variety of chili – from hearty and meaty, to hot and spicy, to vegetarian and everything in between. Then everyone can vote on their favorites, and the best beer and chili in Connecticut will be crowned.

Make Dad feel like a king for a day with gourmet dishes, shopping and spa specials offered throughout the property this Father’s Day

The day to show Dad appreciation is near and what better way to say “thank you’’ than with a gourmet meal or a gift he will remember at Mohegan Sun? A variety of specials will be featured throughout the property on June 20th including:

Todd English’s Tuscany will celebrate Father’s Day with their delicious chef’s tasting. Diners will begin with a Caprese Salad tossed with Heirloom Tomatoes, Fresh Basil and Burrata Cheese. The second course will consist of Veal Ravioli with Thyme Mushroom Cream. Next, Petit Filet with Seared Foie Gras and Horseradish Silk Potatoes. Topping off the meal will be a Strawberry Rhubarb Napoleon dish with Cardamom Cream for dessert. The special is offered at $50.00 per person from 4:00pm to 10:00pm and will be offered at $85.00 per person with wine pairings.

Birches Bar & Grill will prepare a three-course meal beginning with a choice of Soup or House Salad and then a Roast Prime Rib of Beef served with Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Asparagus Spears and Horseradish Cream. For dessert, a seven layered Caramel Mousse Bomb with Chocolate covered pretzel pieces will be prepared. The meal will be offered at $24.95 per person from noon until midnight.

Michael Jordan’s Steak House will serve dinner from 5:00pm to 11:00pm and guests can feast on a King Cut 20-ounce Prime Rib Steak served with Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Rosemary Demi Glace and a Sundried Tomatoes and Mushroom Skewer for $35.00 per person. Big Bubba’s BBQ will honor Father’s Day with a Prime Rib dinner which will include a Twice-Baked Potato and an additional side for $22.95.

Treat Mom to dining, shopping and spa specials this Mother’s Day at Mohegan Sun

May 9th is almost here and Mohegan Sun plans on making Mother’s Day a memorable one with gourmet dining, Elemis Spa specials and exclusive discounts at Mom’s favorite Mohegan Sun shops. 

DINING OFFERINGS

Todd English’s Tuscany will prepare a three-course meal starting with Lobster Fegatini in Fennel Brown Butter. It’s followed by Pastrami-Rubbed Duck served over Porcini Dusted Potatoes and Roasted Cipollini Onions and then a Petit Rack of Lamb served with Spring Pea and Mint Risotto with Lamb Jus. Concluding the meal will be a signature Fallen Chocolate Cake. The special will be offered at $47.00 per person or $82.00 per person with wine pairings from 4:00pm to 10:00pm.

Birches Bar & Grill will offer a three-course meal starting with a choice of Soup Du Jour or a Garden Salad followed by Baked Seafood Stuffed Shrimp with Lemon Beurre Blanc Sauce served with Asparagus Spears and Wild Rice Pilaf. Lastly, a Raspberry Panna Cotta on a Cookie base with fresh Berries and Raspberry Coulis will be served for dessert. The meal will be offered at $25.95 per person from 10:00am to 3:30am.

At Big Bubba’s BBQ, a special dinner consisting of Prime Rib with a Twice Baked Potato plus an additional side will be prepared for $22.95 per person from 11:30am to 10:00pm.

Sunburst Buffet will offer a special brunch menu featuring items such as Creamy Gorgonzola Pasta Primavera, Pepperoni Frittata and Mussels with Lemon Grass Broth from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Dinner will be prepared from 2:00pm to 9:00pm and will feature an array of specialties including Gemelli with Bolognaise& Fresh Mozzarella, Tuscan Chicken with Broccoli & Penne and Swordfish with Tomato Vinaigrette. Both meals will be offered at $19.81 per person and $10.37 for children between the ages of six and twelve.

Special hours will be available at Bar Americain with dinner service from 2:00pm to 8:00pm,  and Pompeii & Caesar will offer a special brunch menu from 10:00am to 4:00pm.    

HOTEL & SPA SPECIALS

Elemis Spa will feature the Trail of Life Ritual package which includes an Ocean Warming Bath, a fifty-minute Swedish Massage, Visible Brilliance Facial, Exotic Hand Ritual, Sole Delight Pedicure, Frangipani Conditioning Hair and Scalp Ritual.
