Mohegan Sun is pleased to announce the return of, Forever Young Mondays, the promotion that turns back the clock. Beginning January 4th, guests sixty years of age or older will enjoy a variety of free gifts, mid-day entertainment, slot tournaments, two-for-one buffets and  dining & shopping specials as part of Mohegan Sun’s Forever Young Mondays. 

One-of-a-Kind Giveaways

Don’t miss Mohegan Sun’s free gift giveaways. Each Monday starting at 9:00am, the first 3,000 guests over sixty with a Player’s Club card will receive a free gift (the gift varies each week) by visiting the Summer Coat Check located in Casino of the Earth.

Discounted Dining

Rise and shine to Dunkin’ Donuts with a free doughnut with the purchase of any medium coffee.  Guests sixty years or older can stop by Jasper White’s Summer Shack Express and enjoy a Fried Fish Sandwich, a cup of Clam Chowder and soft drink for $15.00 (includes tax).

As if that isn’t enough, a delightful serving of infinite proportions will be offered at SolToro Tequila Grill with a special $19.95 Infinita Fajita which includes endless Chicken, Steak or Shrimp Fajitas.

Lunch and dinner is a lay-up at Geno’s Fast Break and Michael Jordan’s .23 sportcafe, as when you buy one entrée, you get another at half price. And over at Seasons and Sunburst Buffets, guests sixty-plus can enjoy two-for-one specials. Other dining specials include pocket friendly discounts at Big Bubba’s BBQ  where guests will receive 20% off their entire check (from Noon to 10:00pm). Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville and Johnny Rockets also join in with 10% off on all food and beverage purchases and 10% off food purchases will be offered at The Dubliner and Lucky’s Lounge.

Discounted Shopping

The savings don’t end at the dining tables. At The Shops at Mohegan Sun, various stores are offering discounts including 20% off any autographed item at America’s Memories, 20% off entire purchase at The Old Farmer’s Almanac General Store a 10% discount at Margaritaville’s Smuggler’s Hold and 10% off all men’s and women’s clothing at The Golf Shop.

Over at Spin Street, guests will get 10% off all books.  Additional specials include a free small baby jar free with a purchase of a large regular-priced Housewarmer jar at Yankee Candle. At Everything Under the Sun and Sky, Summer and Autumn Essentials, guests will receive a bag of nostalgic candy for a penny with a purchase of $10.00 or more. See stores for details. Free Entertainment and Mid-Day Performances

Mohegan Sun’s Wolf Den lineup will be jam-packed with timeless acts including two special performances on select Mondays at 12:00pm to 12:45pm and 1:15pm to 2:00pm.

On January 4th, The Glamour Girls will play a wide selection of 50s through 70s hits. Additionally, Dietician and Lifestyle Expert, Mary Ann Nash, will be speaking on ways to achieve a healthy lifestyle following The Glamour Girls’ performance at 2:30pm.

Phil Dirt & The Dozers will pay homage to the 50s and 60s Rock and Roll era on January 11th. The Daddio’s will take the stage to play various 40s through 70s hits on January 18th. Rick K. and The Allnighters will perform their renditions of the 50s through the 70s on February 1st. Continuing the 50s and 70s sound will be The Main Street Cruisers on February 8th.

The Wolf Den plays host to “Bravo’s Millionaire Matchmaker” Patti Stanger on February 15th at 1:00pm, as she hosts a special Singles’ Boot Camp. Attendees will receive priceless tips and tricks on finding and keeping the perfect mate. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Strike it Rich with Guaranteed Slot Tournaments

The action heats up with $5,000 Slot Tournaments-Minimum-Guaranteed on January 25th and February 22nd. Registration for the $10.00 buy-in slot tournaments will be held on the day of each tournament from 8:00am to 4:00pm across from Birches Bar & Grill in Casino of the Earth. Tournaments will be filled on a first come, first-served basis.

Cash, credit cards and Player’s Club points may be used to buy into the slot tournament for a chance to take home a share of $5,000 (which may increase based on the amount of participants who register). Sessions will run from 11:00am to 7:00pm.

Dining Specials-New Year’s Eve

Sunburst Buffet will serve a wide range of meals including a Steak Giambotta or Shrimp & Pesto Fettuccine.  Seasons Buffet will feature Roasted Turkey Breast, a Slow-Roasted Garlic & Shallot Crusted Prime Rib as well as an Herb-Roasted Pork Loin.  Desserts selections include Hot Caramel Apples, Bread Pudding and Fruit Cobbler.  Sunburst Buffet will be open from 11:00am – 12:00am and Seasons Buffet will be serving breakfast from 7:30am – 11:00am followed by lunch and dinner selections through 12:00am.    

Todd English’s Tuscany will offer a Chef’s Tasting Menu that starts out with Tuna Tartare; Crispy Rock Shrimp, Cucumber Salad with Sesame Dressing followed by Tuscan Misto (Surf & Turf) that features a 6-ounce Filet alongside a Butter-Poached Lobster and a side of Roquefort Mashed Potatoes topped with Celeriac Remoulade.  For dessert is a Signature Fallen Chocolate Cake with Tahitian Vanilla Gelato and Raspberry Purée.  This meal is offered at $47.00 per person.  Dinner will be served from 11:30am – 12:00am.

Birches Bar & Grill will serve a three-course meal special for New Year’s Eve that starts with a choice of Soup or Salad followed by Prime Rib Steak with Green Beans Provencal and Roasted Fingerling Potatoes or Baked Stuffed Shrimp with Asparagus, Rice Pilaf and Lemon Beurre Blanc.  This meal is offered at $39.95.  Birches Bar & Grill hours of operation will be from 11:30am – 3:30am on New Year’s Eve.  

Pompeii &Caesar, The Longhouse, Bamboo Forest and The Cove will all be closed for New Year’s Eve for a private event.

Dining Specials-New Year’s Day

Sunburst Buffet will have a special New Year’s Day Brunch serving Western Style Scrambled Eggs, Stuffed French Toast as well as Rigatoni with Seafood Bolognese, Honey Mustard Pork Loin and more.   Brunch hours will be from 9:00am – 2:00pm.  With dinner service to follow until 11:00pm.

On New Year’s Day, Pompeii & Caesar will offer their champagne brunch from10:00am – 2:30pm and will re-open to serve dinner from 5:00pm – 10:00pm. 

Birches Bar & Grill will open early at 9:00am, Friday, January 1st through Sunday, January 3rd.

Chef Showdown, a Grape Stomp competition and the 7th Annual Mohegan Sun Oyster Open take place during the weekend’s Grand Tasting

 A culinary face-off, mashed grapes and oyster shucking will highlight a competition-filled weekend during SUN WINEFEST 2010. A variety of events will take place on Saturday, January 30th and Sunday, January 31st including the 6th Annual Chef Showdown, 7th Annual Mohegan Sun Oyster Open and the first-ever Grape Stomp competition.

Sponsored by Hatfield® the 6th Annual Chef Showdown kicks off Saturday, January 30th at 1:45pm on the main stage in the Uncas Ballroom during the Grand Tasting. Chefs who submit the most creative, unique and inspiring recipe utilizing Hatfield® Flat Iron Pork Sirloin and Quick Ribs will be chosen as finalists to  prepare their dishes for a chance to take home $4,000, an exclusive VIP stay at Mohegan Sun, a custom Championship Chef’s Coat and a feature in an upcoming issue of Hartford Magazine. Following the 6th Annual Chef Showdown, Sun WineFest’s first-ever Grape Stomp sponsored by [yellow tail] ® begins at 4:15pm, January 30th, on the main stage. Teams will kick off their shoes and have three minutes to channel their inner Lucille Ball and stomp out as much grape juice as they can. To enter, potential participants can contact Event Director, Vicky Cirilli at 860.874.7742. First place will win $1,500, an overnight stay at Mohegan Sun and a complimentary dinner for two at Todd English’s Tuscany. Second place will take home $1,000 and third will receive $500.00, respectively. The SUN WINEFEST 2010 Grape Stomp will benefit the American Diabetes Association. 

Finally SUN WINEFEST 2010 concludes the action during the 7th Annual Mohegan Sun Oyster Open sponsored by Bud Light. Elite shuckers from the best restaurants, raw bars and shellfish and seafood companies on the Eastern Seaboard will compete to take down last year’s champion William “Chopper” Young of Wellfleet, MA at 4:15pm in the Uncas Ballroom on January 31st. All three competitions can be viewed during the Grand Tasting.
