Available at Clay Pipe Cigar Bar, novelle and TAO Asian Bistro & Lounge will be highlights like Breckenridge Bourbon, which is an 86-proof bourbon with a deep honey-amber hue and enticing aromas of butterscotch, candied orange and crisp apple. Another sought after whiskey featured as part of the Select Barrel Series is Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select and this famous whiskey provides rich caramel notes intertwined with toasted oak and hints of ripe banana. When it comes to rum, the Select Barrel Series stays on point with a Cruzan 5-Year-Old Rum. UNCASVILLE, CT (July 9, 2025) – Special Olympics Connecticut invites thrill-seeking individuals and teams to celebrate a milestone and sign up for its 15th Annual Over the Edge event presented and hosted by Mohegan Sun on Friday, August 29th. During Over the Edge, fearless participants will rappel more than 30 floors down Mohegan Sun’s Sky Tower to support Special Olympics’ year-round sports, health and fitness programs for close to 14,000 athletes of all abilities across the state. Those who wish to keep two feet on the ground may donate in honor of participants and to celebrate the event’s 15th anniversary. Spectators are welcome to attend. Over the Edge draws participants from area businesses and corporations, community organizations and law enforcement departments and is open to all. Several Special Olympics athletes are also expected to rappel again this year. Since its inception, more than 1,000 individuals have participated in the event and over $1.5 million has been raised.
Over the Edge participants must weigh at least 100 lbs. and raise a minimum of $1,250 to participate. No rappelling experience is required, as day-of training and continuous support is provided throughout the experience.

Weighing in at an impressive 10 tons, this dual-sided masterpiece was crafted entirely from sand by the award-winning team at Professional Sculptors, LLC, featuring celebrated artists Abe Waterman and Greg J. “G2” Grady. The sculpture brings to life iconic Mohegan symbols and stories, including: a classic slot machine, the legendary Mohegan Sun rock that greets visitors outside the casino, wolves honoring the Wolf People, and a detailed likeness of former Mohegan Tribe Chief, Ralph Sturges. Abe Waterman, hailing from Prince Edward Island, Canada, is known for his imaginative and unconventional approach to ephemeral art. With a background in snow and ice sculpting, Abe transitioned to sand in 2007 and has since become a leading figure in the field. His accolades include First Place at the 2025 Atlantis Rising International Sand Sculpture Competition, European Champion at the International Sand Sculpture Europe Championship in Belgium in 2021 and World Champion in the Doubles category with Dmitry Klimenko at the Virginia Beach Neptune Championship Sand Sculpting in 2018. His work continues to captivate audiences across North America and beyond.
Greg J. Grady, a New Hampshire native and Marine Corps veteran, is a second-generation sand sculptor who turned a childhood passion into a full-time career. With over 15 years of experience, Greg has traveled the globe creating intricate sand masterpieces. The Connecticut Pickle Festival is New England’s largest pickle event of the year featuring a Pickle Patch where guests can sample 50+ pickle varieties from craft picklers across the country! Throughout the weekend, guests can walk the festival grounds while sipping on pickle martinis and pickle shots, indulge in the food selection where a feast of pickled-themed food items including fried pickles, pickle pizza, pickle shaved ice, pickle fries, pickle topped ice cream, pickle shish kabobs, pickle quesadillas, Kool-Aid pickles, dill pickle kettle corn, and pickle pasta salad will be available, and enjoy live Country, Pop, and Rock-themed performances by awesome musicians. Additionally, Connecticut Pickle Festival’s very own Pickle Pablo Mascot will be in attendance!

The crowd will have two big favorites at the event – The Pickle Eating Contest and the funny fan-favorite Pickle Juice Challenge. Other highlights at Connecticut Pickle Festival include The Great Pickle-Off which is a juried contest for the best homemade pickles, kids’ activities including pickle cornhole, pickle potty, games, and inflatables, and a Pickle Market featuring unique pickle products, artisan foods, and crafts.

UNCASVILLE, CT (June 30, 2025) – The entertainment at Mohegan Sun continues to turn up the heat this summer with two powerhouse Hip-Hop performances as part of the Sun Patio Concert Series. Grammy-winning lyricist Lupe Fiasco will kick off the excitement on Saturday, July 19th at 8:00pm, followed by legendary Hip-Hop group The Roots at 9:00pm on Saturday, August 2nd. Wasalu Muhammad Jaco, better known by his stage name Lupe Fiasco, is a Chicago-born, Grammy award-winning American rapper, record producer, entrepreneur, and community advocate. The independent rapper who parted ways with his former label, Atlantic Records, following the release of 2015’s Tetsuo & Youth, is pegged as one of the most gifted lyricists and visionaries to grace the mic.
