Mohegan Sun Arena show takes place on July 19th; Barnaked Ladies celebrating 25th anniversary; New Album on Vanguard Records Available June 4th
Rolling Stone called it “one of the ten hottest summer package tours of 2012” and Entertainment Weekly spotlighted it on their “2012 Summer Must List.” We’re talking, of course, about the Barenaked Ladies’ uber-succesful “Last Summer On Earth,” rollicking roadshow that tore through more than 30 arenas and amphitheaters during its near-sold-out run. Back by popular demand, this year’s lineup sees the multi-platinum selling Ladies joined by Ben Folds Five and Guster for a hot-ticket-tour set to kick off June 17th and making its way to Uncasville, CT for a July 19th Mohegan Sun Arena show set to kick off at 8:00pm.
Tickets are $38.00 and go on sale Saturday, March 30th through Ticketmaster at 10:00am. Ticketmaster customers may log on to ticketmaster.com; call Ticketmaster’s national toll free Charge By Phone number 1.800.745.3000; or visit any Ticketmaster outlet. Tickets will also be available at the Mohegan Sun Box Office starting Sunday, March 31st subject to availability. Fan club-only pre-sales tickets will begin on March 19th. More details are available at mohegansun.com/entertainment as well.
Rolling Stone broke the news this morning in an interview with BNL’s Ed Robertson : http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/barenaked-ladies-cheat-apocalypse-with-2013-last-summer-on-earth-tour-20130318
It’ll be a busy summer for the Barenaked Ladies (guitarist/vocalist Ed Robertson, bassist/vocalist Jim Creeggan, keyboardist/vocalist Kevin Hearn and drummer/vocalist Tyler Stewart), who are celebrating their 25th anniversary with the release of a brand-new studio album (their twelfth, for those keeping count) and their first for new label
Vanguard Records. The band is putting the finishing touches on the album, which was recorded in Toronto with producers Gavin Brown (The Tragically Hip, Metric), Howie Beck (Feist, Josh Rouse) and Mark Endert (Maroon 5, Train). Over the course of the past twenty-three years, Barenaked Ladies have amassed an international fanbase whose members number in the millions. Their plethora of career highlights includes eight Juno Awards and multiple Grammy nominations, more than 14 million albums sold worldwide and a series of hit singles, including No. #1 hit “One Week,” as well as “Pinch Me, “Brian Wilson,” “If I Had $1,000,000” and many more, along with the theme song for the hit CBS television series, The Big Bang Theory.
Ben Folds Five is touring in support of The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind, the group’s first album of new music in 13 years. The groundbreaking Pop trio of pianist Ben Folds, bassist Robert Sledge and drummer Darren Jessee launched in Chapel Hill, North Carolina in‘94 and released debut album Whatever And Ever Amen in ‘97. A slice of pure Pop perfection, the album introduced the ballad “Brick,” which broke the band commercially and sold more than two million copies worldwide. BF5 recorded its last album, ‘99’s The Unauthorized Biography Of Reinhold Messner, which included the single “Army,” before disbanding in 2000. (The trio reunited for a one-off live performance of The Unauthorized Biography Of Reinhold Messner on MySpace in 2008). In 2011, the original three members of Ben Folds Five came together to record three new studio tracks for The Best Imitation Of Myself: A Retrospective, a career-spanning anthology. The band’s magic rekindled in the new tracks, BF5 gave its first concert in more than a decade to a spellbound audience at New York’s Mountain Jam Festival on June 2, 2012. That inspired a short run of key US summer festival dates, including Bonnaroo, Milwaukee Summerfest, and Old St. Patrick’s Church Block Party in Chicago which set up a massive comeback tour with dates in the U.S., U.K., Australia and Japan.
Guster recently self-released Guster: Live Acoustic, a collection of live recordings from their 2012 acoustic tour. It’s been eight years since Guster released a proper live album – 2004’s Guster On Ice – and two years since their last studio album, Easy Wonderful. The sixteen tracks from Live Acoustic are a musical tribute to the varied faces and places that made last year’s travels one of the most remarkable in Guster’s impressive career. Guster began in a dorm room at Tufts University and has released six studio albums in the last two decades – Parachute (1993), Goldfly (1998), Lost and Gone Forever (1999), Keep It Together (2003), Ganging Up On The Sun (2006) and Easy Wonderful (2010). Known to open up for themselves in disguise as psychedelic rockers “Trippin’ Balls” and as Christian Southern Rock outfit “The Peace Soldiers,” Guster has also shared the stage with the Boston Pops Symphony Orchestra and the Colorado Symphony in recent years. Singer Ryan Miller has branched out into scoring films – including 2012’s beloved Sundance standout Safety Not Guaranteed. Bandmate Adam Gardner has started his own non-profit called “Reverb,” which works with bands, artists and venues to reduce the music industries environmental footprint.
Additional info and dates on the “Last Summer On Earth” tour will be announced in the coming weeks. BNL Fan Club presale will begin March 19th and will include exclusive VIP and meet and greet packages. Go to www.barenakedladies.com for more info.

Tickets will also be available at the Mohegan Sun Box Office starting Saturday, March 9th subject to availability. More details are available at mohegansun.com/entertainment as well.
The announce of “The Moonshine Jungle World Tour” comes just as “When I Was Your Man” – the latest single from Mars’ just-released sophomore album, “Unorthodox Jukebox” – has exploded into the top 10 on Billboard’s “Hot 100” where it joins the album’s blockbuster first single, “Locked Out Of Heaven,” which recently spent six consecutive weeks atop the “Hot 100” chart. The immediate success of “When I Was Your Man” – which additionally earned honors as the week’s top “Streaming Gainer” and “Airplay Gainer” – marks the GRAMMY®-winner’s 10th consecutive single to hit the top 10, continuing his already-established status as the male artist with the longest streak of top 10 hits as a performer since his debut.
Furthermore, the single’s chart ascension places Mars in the history books as the first male artist to simultaneously place two titles in the top 10 since his own “Grenade” and “Just The Way You Are” doubled up on the chart in December 2010/January 2011.
The official companion video for “When I Was Your Man” – directed by Mars and his frequent collaborator, Cameron Duddy (“Locked Out Of Heaven,” “The Lazy Song”) – is also looking like an instant smash. The clip, which premiered earlier this month, has already drawn close to 5 million individual views at Bruno’s official YouTube channel, located at http://youtu.be/ekzHIouo8Q4. “When I Was Your Man” first shot to the top 10 on the iTunes “Top Singles” chart within 48 hours of its official release last year.
Mars recently led a breathtaking performance on the 55th Annual Grammy Awards fronting an all-star tribute to Bob Marley alongside the likes of Sting and Rihanna, which marked the Grammy-winner’s third consecutive year to perform on the acclaimed show.
As its title suggests, Unorthodox Jukebox once again sees Mars melding a multitude of musical approaches to create his own distinctive sound. Executive produced by The Smeezingtons, the hit-making production team comprised of Mars, Philip Lawrence, and Ari Levine, the collection also features contributions from such top producers as Jeff Bhasker (fun., Kanye West, Jay-Z), Mark Ronson (Amy Winehouse, Lil Wayne, Black Lips) and Diplo (M.I.A, Usher).
Unorthodox Jukebox made a stunning SoundScan/Billboard 200 debut upon its release last year, entering the chart at #2 with sales in excess of 192,000 – the singer/songwriter/producer/musician’s highest first week sales debut thus far. In
addition, the album exploded to the top spot on the British album charts, making history as the United Kingdom’s fastest selling solo album of 2012. The phenomenal success of Unorthodox Jukebox follows the equivalent popularity of Mars’ now classic 2010 debut, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, which proved the U.K.’s third best-selling album of 2011 and also entered the charts at #1.
Bruno Mars is undoubtedly among contemporary pop’s most gifted and compelling artists. And with global sales currently certified at 40x-platinum and over 50 million singles sold worldwide, the 14-time Grammy Award nominee has fully proven himself as a true superstar.
Released in October 2010, Doo-Wops & Hooligans was greeted with both popular success and critical acclaim from all corners of the globe. “The year’s finest Pop debut,” raved Rolling Stone. “Near-flawless…(the album) delivers pleasure without pretension.” Fueled by a remarkable string of hit singles, including the multi-platinum #1 smashes, “Just The Way You Are” and “Grenade,” the album instantly confirmed Mars as a major force in modern Pop music.
Mars soon racked up a remarkable record of prestigious international awards and nominations, with victories including a “Best Male Pop Vocal Performance” Grammy Award (for “Just The Way You Are”), an American Music Award for “Pop or Rock Music/Favorite Male Artist,” a 2012 Brit Award (for “International Male Solo Artist”), two Teen Choice Awards, a 2012 People’s Choice Award (for “Favorite Male Artist”), a Soul Train Music Award, two MTV Europe Music Awards, two MTV Music Awards Japan, a BT Digital Music Award, an ECHO Award, and multiple 2011 Billboard Awards including “Top Male Hot 100 Artist of the Year.”
As if that weren’t enough, Mars received a truly stunning assortment of 2011 and 2012 honors from ASCAP, including the ASCAP Pop Award for “Song of the Year” (for “Just The Way You Are”). In 2011, he was named to the prestigious Time 100, confirming the superstar as one of the most influential people in the world.
