$250,000 Summer Showdown to be held July 7th – July 10th
Mohegan Sun is set to kick off the $250,000 Summer Showdown Poker Tournament on Thursday, July 7th in Mohegan Sun’s Convention Center. The four-day tournament will feature various poker events with affordable buy-ins as well as a $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em $125,000 Guaranteed Main Event on Saturday, July 9th.
The action starts on Thursday, July 7th at 11:00am with a $440.00 buy-in, No-Limit Hold’em tournament featuring a $50,000 Guarantee. Also on July 7th, a $180.00 Bounty with a $10,000 Guarantee is set to take place at 6:00pm.
On Friday, July 8th, the $300.00 No-Limit Hold’em $25,000 Guarantee will begin at 11:00am followed by a $120.00 No-Limit Hold’em, $10,000 Guarantee tournament at 6:00pm.
The Main Event kicks off on Saturday, July 9th at 11:00am with the $1,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em, $125,000 Guarantee. A $180.00 Bounty Tournament also takes place on the 9th, beginning at 6:00pm.
The final day of the showdown is Sunday, July 10th and it will feature the biggest Bounty tournament of the week with the $330.00 Bounty “Deep Stack” at 11:00am with a $20,000 Guarantee. The last tournament will start at 3:00pm with a $250.00 buy-in No-Limit 6 Max.
Weekly Satellite Qualifying Tournaments for Mohegan Sun’s Summer Showdown Poker Tournament are currently in progress and will run up until the tournament kicks off on July 7th. Uncasville, CT – A Holyoke, Massachusetts resident is waking up a millionaire this morning after winning over $1.4 million on a penny machine at Mohegan Sun on Monday, April 4th. Gabrielle Brin-Martin won $1,427,870.21 on a one cent IGT Star Wars Wide Area Progressive in Casino of the Sky near SolToro Tequila Grill.
This is the third larger jackpot in Casino of the Sky in less than two weeks. On March 28th, one lucky guest took home just over $1.7 million on another penny machine by IGT, Bombs Away. And on March 30th, another guest won $50,000 on a Triple Diamond machine.

The full schedule for the PokerStars.net North American Poker Tour Mohegan Sun event has been announced, with the $5,000 Main Event set to take place from April 9th-13th and the wider festival beginning on April 5th and ending April 15th.

Like previous NAPT events, Mohegan Sun will also feature a $10,000 + $300 Bounty Shootout tournament, which is an open event with an 81-player capacity. The two-day event begins on April 12th with the first flights, while the final table takes place on April 14th. Both the Main Event and the Bounty Shootout will be filmed by 441 Productions and broadcast on ESPN2 in May and December 2011.
Ray Pineault, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Office at the Mohegan Sun, said: “We are thrilled to once again be hosting the North American Poker Tour here at Mohegan Sun. Last year’s inaugural event was such a huge success and we anticipate this year’s event will bring out even more big names from within the poker community.”
NAPT Mohegan Sun highlights
Mohegan Sun, based in Uncasville, Connecticut, will host 35 separate events and be a major draw for many of the world’s top poker players. A vast array of Team PokerStars Pros will be in action, including last year’s Main Event winner Vanessa Selbst, along with Daniel Negreanu, Jonathan Duhamel, Victor Ramdin, Joe Cada, Jason Mercier, Pat Pezzin, Greg DeBora, Anh Van Nguyen and Marcello Del Grosso.
Selbst, who came first and won $750,000 at last year’s event, said: “Winning my first major main event at NAPT Mohegan Sun was one of the great highlights of my career. It was my first major main event win, and in my home state of Connecticut, which made it so much more meaningful for me. I can’t wait to get back to Uncasville and make it two in a row!”
Jeffrey Haas, spokesman for NAPT, said: “We are delighted to be heading back to Mohegan Sun where last year we had a field of 716 players for the $5,000 NAPT Main Event. The full tournament schedule includes several No Limit Hold’em events, across a variety of formats including Turbo, 6-max and Deep Stack. Meanwhile, a $2,500 Heads-up event with a cap of 32 players is expected to draw some high-profile names, and mixed game players will be thrilled to see a $300 H.O.S.E. event. There are also ‘Steps’ satellites running to the Main Event, which will enable players to qualify for the $5,000 showpiece tournament for as little as $260. Giveaway/Countdown Celebration
Mohegan Sun will kick off the night of celebration at 4:00pm as complementary top hats, tiaras and noisemakers are distributed at Mohegan Sun’s coat check & valet locations throughout the property to all guests. Shopping and Dining Specials-New Year’s Eve
The Old Farmer’s Almanac General Store will run a two hour special on New Year’s Eve from 10:00pm to Midnight as guests will receive 20% off all purchases, excluding clearance and promotional merchandise.
Kids Quest and Cyber Quest will offer can’t-miss events and activities for kids from 10:00am to 3:00am on New Year’s Eve. Kids Quest will feature crafts, games, hats and blowers, balloon drops and prizes periodically throughout the day. Cyber Quest will host a 15,000 ticket giveaway from 2:00pm to 11:00pm with 1,000 tickets being awarded per hour. At Midnight, one lucky winner will take home a grand prize of 5,000 tickets. To enter, children can earn one entry ticket per hour. Kids who are MVP Club Card holders will receive two entry tickets per hour and two bonus tickets will be awarded for daily Quest Bonus challenges. Children must be present to win.
Todd English’s Tuscany will offer a Chef’s Tasting Menu that starts out with Pear and Baby Green Insalata served with Crumbled Maytag Bleu Cheese, Candied Walnuts and White Balsamic Vinaigrette followed by Fennel Rubbed Diver Scallops with Root Vegetable Risotto and Porcini Butter. The third course is made up of a Surf and Turf combination of Petit Filet with Cipollini Demi, Charcoal Roasted Prawn,
Haricot Verts and Silk Potatoes. For dessert, a Mini Fallen Chocolate Cake with Tahitian Vanilla Gelato and a Tuxedo Strawberry. This meal is offered at $55.00 per person and $90.00 per person with wine pairings. Dinner will be served from 4:30pm – 12:00am.
Big Bubba’s BBQ will offer a Surf & Turf dinner consisting of Filet Mignon & Stuffed Shrimp with Potatoes and Vegetables for $49.95.
Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville will serve a Steak Diane dinner made up of a ten-ounce Sirloin topped with Shallot Mustard, Demi Glace and Sherry with Sautéed Mushrooms, Roasted Potatoes with Truffle Oil and Grilled Asparagus for $27.95.
Birches Bar & Grill will serve a three-course meal special for New Year’s Eve that starts with a choice of Soup or Salad followed by Roast Prime Rib with Green Beans Provençal and Roasted Fingerling Potatoes or Baked Stuffed Salmon with Crabmeat Stuffing, Sherry Lobster Cream Sauce, Asparagus Spears and Roasted Garlic Smashed Potatoes. Dessert will be Dolly Sin Chocolate Cake with Strawberries and Vanilla Sauce. This meal is offered at $37.00 from 3:00pm-1:00am. Birches Bar & Grill hours of operation will be from 11:00am – 5:00am on New Year’s Eve and 9:00am-3:30am on New Year’s Day.
