The full schedule for the PokerStars.net North American Poker Tour Mohegan Sun event has been announced, with the $5,000 Main Event set to take place from April 9th-13th and the wider festival beginning on April 5th and ending April 15th.

Like previous NAPT events, Mohegan Sun will also feature a $10,000 + $300 Bounty Shootout tournament, which is an open event with an 81-player capacity. The two-day event begins on April 12th with the first flights, while the final table takes place on April 14th. Both the Main Event and the Bounty Shootout will be filmed by 441 Productions and broadcast on ESPN2 in May and December 2011.

Last year’s inaugural event was such a huge success and we anticipate this year’s event will bring out even more big names from within the poker community.”
NAPT Mohegan Sun highlights
Mohegan Sun, based in Uncasville, Connecticut, will host 35 separate events and be a major draw for many of the world’s top poker players. A vast array of Team PokerStars Pros will be in action, including last year’s Main Event winner Vanessa Selbst, along with Daniel Negreanu, Jonathan Duhamel, Victor Ramdin, Joe Cada, Jason Mercier, Pat Pezzin, Greg DeBora, Anh Van Nguyen and Marcello Del Grosso.
Selbst, who came first and won $750,000 at last year’s event, said: “Winning my first major main event at NAPT Mohegan Sun was one of the great highlights of my career. It was my first major main event win, and in my home state of Connecticut, which made it so much more meaningful for me. I can’t wait to get back to Uncasville and make it two in a row!”
Jeffrey Haas, spokesman for NAPT, said: “We are delighted to be heading back to Mohegan Sun where last year we had a field of 716 players for the $5,000 NAPT Main Event. The players loved the first class experience of the poker room, and we are looking forward to partnering with the casino once again and hoping to build on the success of last year with even bigger fields and prize pools.”
Festival schedule
The full tournament schedule includes several No Limit Hold’em events, across a variety of formats including Turbo, 6-max and Deep Stack. Meanwhile, a $2,500 Heads-up event with a cap of 32 players is expected to draw some high-profile names, and mixed game players will be thrilled to see a $300 H.O.S.E. event. There are also ‘Steps’ satellites running to the Main Event, which will enable players to qualify for the $5,000 showpiece tournament for as little as $260. The Uncas Ballroom will be showcasing all the top races on the big screens for the 2010 Breeders’ Cup World Championships
Mohegan Sun is set to host festivities for one of horse racing’s most prestigious events, the 2010 Breeders’ Cup World Championships slated for Saturday, November 6th. The 2010 Breeders’ Cup Party will be held in the spacious Uncas Ballroom, doors will open at 10:00am.
All eight of the 2010 Breeders’ Cup World Thoroughbred Championship races from Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky will be showcased on the seven big screens in the Uncas Ballroom at Mohegan Sun. The main and final race, the Breeders’ Cup Classic with $5 million up for grabs, will begin at 6:45pm. As the richest prize money event in sports, totaling over $25 million, the Breeders’ Cup features the best of the best in thoroughbred horses from North America and Europe.
Mohegan Sun is thrilled to be welcoming back Dave Johnson and co-host Bill Finley from Sirius XM’s popular “Down the Stretch” radio show for a live all-day broadcast from the Ballroom beginning at 10:00am. Also joining the festivities will be jockey Otto Thorwarth who portrays jockey Ron Turcotte in the movie Secretariat that premiered on October 8th. Fall poker tournament to include the Northeast’s first multi-play event and a $1,650 buy-in Main Event from November 14th-21st
Mohegan Sun sweetens the pot this fall with the second annual Fall Showdown Poker Tournament. This eight day series of tournaments will feature a $250,000 guarantee total prize pool, affordable buy-ins, a big money main event and the Northeast’s first $100,000 guarantee three-day, multi-play event.
“We are really excited to introduce the three-day, multi-play event to the Northeast as part of our Fall Showdown,” said Bruce Dixon, Director of Poker for Mohegan Sun. “This newly structured tournament will add a new element that is not only affordable, but will allow our players to buy back into the tournament.”
