UNCASVILLE, CT (November 15, 2023) ––The best of 80’s Rock hits the Mohegan Sun Arena stage for an 80’s Rock Invasion featuring four of the genre’s favorite multiplatinum selling, internationally known, award winning artists including Stephen Pearcy of RATT, Quiet Riot, Vixen & Riley’s LA Guns on Saturday, January 20th at 7:30pm.

Stephen Pearcy of RATT
As the founder, lead singer and songwriter of the Metal Rock band RATT, Stephen Pearcy is credited with being a pioneer of the early 80’s Sunset Strip Rock scene. He led his creation to mega multi-platinum success year after year from 1984 to 1991, capturing critical acclaim for his performances, style and uniquely salacious vocals. Pearcy formed RATT in Los Angeles in 1982 from his previous band Mickey RATT. Known for their overtly sexual appearance, rebellious attitude and take no prisoner approach to Metal, Atlantic Records recognized RATT’s potential and star power, thus signing the band to a contract resulting in the 1984 album Out of the Cellar, which became one of many multi-platinum successes. RATT climbed up the charts with singles from Out of the Cellar, soaring past Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy”, Van Halen’s “Panama”, Madonna’s “Borderline” and David Bowie’s “Blue Jean”.
QUIET RIOT
QUIET RIOT is a Rock & Roll phenomenon. Famously described as the first Heavy Metal band to top the Pop chart at #1 on Billboard Magazine, the Los Angeles quartet became an overnight sensation thanks to their monster 1983 smash album Metal Health.
Vixen
Vixen is the only all-female band of the 80’s to sell over a million albums, have six #1 videos on MTV, and have four songs in Billboard’s Top 100. EMI Records released their self-named debut album Vixen featuring the groups’ first hit “Edge of a Broken Heart”, penned by Richard Marx and Fee Waybill (The Tubes). MTV became Vixen’s playground and so coupled with exhaustive touring Vixen embarked on their ride.
Riley’s LA Guns
L.A. Guns got their start on Los Angeles’ Sunset Strip. The band was formed in 1986 and signed with Polygram Records in 1987, recording their first album that summer. This first album, titled L.A. Guns, went on to sell over 1,000,000 copies giving the band its first platinum award. Tours with AC/DC, Iron Maiden and Def Leppard followed. A compilation of the videos made from this first album also earned the band earned the band a gold video award from the RIAA. L.A. Guns went into the studio to record their second album, Cocked and Loaded, in the spring of 1989. It was a hit right away with the release of “Rip and Tear” as the first single and video. “Never Enough” and “The Ballad of Jayne” followed, pushing the album toward platinum status once again. With more than 30 years’ worth of noteworthy material, the band have proved to be true warriors of the 80’s genre.

From 5:00pm – 7:00pm, guests of all ages can witness pure magic as Mohegan Sun lights up the night at the newly-renovated Sun Patio with an event hosted by shining star and true American legend, Frankie Valli! Delectable treats and complimentary hot chocolate, tea and coffee will be available. A decadent Baileys Chocolate Cocktail will also be offered at the Sun Patio Bar. Carolers will be on hand singing Christmas classics. Plus, the family can gather for a photo with Santa! This event is free and will take place rain or shine.
After his appearance at the First Annual Sun Patio Tree Lighting, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons will bring their iconic hits to Mohegan Sun Arena for “The Last Encores” tour at 8:00pm. Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons are one of the most beloved groups in Pop music history, selling more than 175 million records worldwide. Known for songs like “Sherry”, “Walk Like A Man”, “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and more, the group continues to tour throughout the US and abroad to packed houses of thrilled fans from multiple generations. Shelly Vincent, Matt Remillard, Tarvis Simms and Tony Grano headline the 2023 class; renowned journalist Mark Allen Baker and promoter Art Pelullo & more will also be inducted
UNCASVILLE, CT (November 7, 2023) – The Connecticut Boxing Hall of Fame is celebrating its 17th Annual Induction Ceremony in the Uncas Ballroom on Saturday, November 18th at 6:00pm. This event is open to the public, and in addition to celebrating the latest class of inductees, guests will have the unique opportunity to mingle with boxing legends and immerse themselves in the rich boxing culture of Connecticut.
Headlining inductees for the 2023 class are as follows:
Shelly Vincent | A native of New London, CT, Shelly Vincent made Providence, RI her boxing base for what turned out to be a spectacular career in the women’s featherweight division. She began her pro career in 2011, and it took her just three years to get a shot at a title. Vincent won a majority decision over Jackie Trivilino to capture the Universal Boxing Federation world super bantamweight championship and made a successful title defense against Christina Ruiz to win the IBA super bantamweight crown. Known for her crowd-pleasing style, Vincent’s pro career ended with a 27-2 record.
Matt Remillard | A two-time Connecticut Boxing Hall of Fame Pro Fighter of the Year, Remillard took part in an event that has become rare in the boxing world. The Manchester featherweight, who was trained by another member of the CBHOF, Paul Cichon, was 23-0 when he put his NABF, WBO and NABO titles on the line to take on 24-0 Mikey Garcia in 2011. It was one of the few times that undefeated fighters with 20 plus wins squared off in the ring with world titles on the line. This highly anticipated bout turned out to be the only loss in Remillard’s career, as he finished with a 27-1 pro record with 15 knockouts. Remillard was a two-time Everlast Under-19 National Amateur champion and had numerous thrilling fights at Mohegan Sun Arena during his career.
Tarvis Simms | A Norwalk, CT native who comes from a boxing family, Simms was a middleweight with the nickname “Marvelous,” which could also describe his career as a pro. Simms finished with a superlative 27-1-1 record after a sterling amateur career. He won the WBF All-American middleweight title by outpointing Delray Raines in Bridgeport in 2008. One of Simms’ more notable victories came against former world champion Carl Daniels, who had amassed 50 wins before losing a unanimous decision to Simms in 2008.
Tony Grano | A graduate of RHAM High School in Hebron, CT, Grano exceeded expectations when he began his career as a professional heavyweight in 2005. He raced to a 15-1-1 record before he was matched against the highly regarded Travis Kauffman, who was 18-0 and heavily favored to defeat Grano. In a bout televised worldwide on HBO, Grano scored a stunning knockout victory. This matchup was named the “2009 Heavyweight Fight of the Year” by Ringside Magazine. Victories over Brian Minto and DaVarryl Williamson gave Grano the NABF heavyweight title in 2012. Known as the “Hebron Hammer,” Grano, now 42, would finish his career with a 20-3-1 record with 16 knockouts.
Mark Allen Baker | One of the most accomplished boxing journalists in the world, Baker has devoted much of his life to chronicling many notable moments in the sport of boxing. His published works range from “Willie Pep, a Biography of the 20th Century’s Greatest Featherweight,’’ to “The World Colored Heavyweight Championship, 1876-1937.’’ His book “Connecticut Boxing, The Fights, The Fighters, and the Fight Game,” was #1 on Amazon’s list of Hot New Releases in 2021. An author of over 25 books about American culture, history, and sports, Baker splits his time between New England and Florida, and is currently a member of the Connecticut Boxing Hall of Fame Board of Directors.
Art Pelullo | Banner Promotions is one of the big hitters in the promotional game, and a lot of the success can be attributed to President and CEO, Arthur Pelullo. Pelullo began Banner Promotions in 1988, and has established a worldwide presence over 35 years, including in Connecticut. A Philadelphia native and member of the Pennsylvania Boxing Hall of Fame, Pelullo has promoted more than 200 shows worldwide on a variety of networks including HBO, Showtime, and Fox. The list of world champions promoted by Pelullo include Ricky Hatton, Diego Corrales, and Acelino Freitas.
Additional inductees include WNBC Middleweight Champion Elvin Ayala, IBO Super Bantamweight Champion Mike Oliver, top CT referee Danny Schiavone, long-time trainer Jose “Papo” Colon, and manager Mike Criscio. This monumental event will also honor Steve Carr, Eddie Dolan, Barbara Dunn, Al Gainer, Mosey King, William “Bill” J. Lee and Jimmy Leto from the 2020 class.

Fans of Asian-inspired dishes can take in the artistry of skilled TAO Asian Bistro & Lounge chefs and gain valuable insights from experts in the field as they craft a delectable selection of bite-sized delights, alongside a carefully curated selection of premium sake. Foodies and fans of James Beard award-winning chef, Todd English can head over to Todd English’s Tuscany to celebrate the finest ingredients and flavors from around the world with a meticulously crafted menu during the Todd English Experience from 7:00pm – 9:30pm. From the first bite to the last, savor the artistry of Todd’s culinary expertise paired with incredible wines. Guests looking to try something new can head to the Sun Patio from 8:00pm – 10:00pm and experience the thrill of sipping favorite cocktails in a truly unique setting during the Sun Patio Ice Bar Experience, hosted by Waypoint Vanilla Vodka, Baileys Chocolate & Patrón Cielo. From 6:00pm – 9:00pm, whiskey enthusiasts can head to the Earth Ballroom for Beam Suntory Presents: Whiskeys of the World where attendees will partake in a memorable night filled with the finest selection of aged spirits from Japan, Ireland, Scotland, Canada, and the United States. Seasoned oenophiles and curious novices alike will embark on an immersive experience that celebrates the artistry of winemaking all while sampling more than 1,000 varieties of wine, beer, and 
spirits. Grand Tasting attendees can watch live demonstrations take place on The Main Stage & The Coca Cola Stage from legendary culinary experts such as Amanda Freitag, Aarón Sánchez, Marc Murphy, Scott Conant and more! Bryan & Aaron’s profound affection for mezcal led the two accomplished actors on a journey to a remote Mexican village, and they were determined to introduce tequila’s enigmatic and less renowned counterpart to a broader audience. From 8:00pm – 10:30pm, foodies can make their way to the Uncas Ballroom to elevate their dining experience to new heights during the Celebrity Chef Dine Around. Attendees will enjoy a diverse culinary journey that fuses artistry with food, as chefs such as Robert Irvine, Maneet Chauhan, Chris Santos, Rocco DiSpirito and more showcase their signature dishes and creative expertise paired with a wine, beer or spirit. After a day of culinary delights, the festivities continue in Avalon Nightclub from 10:30pm – 2:00am, where guests can celebrate 20 years of Sun Wine & Food Fest at the Celebrity Chef After Party, the most exclusive after party in town.

All Six Teams are Featured in the Associated Press Preseason Top 25 Rankings
UNCASVILLE, CT (October 19, 2023) – The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced that limited tickets remain for the Invesco QQQ Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase on Sunday, December 10, at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
All six teams participating in the highly anticipated event are ranked in the recently unveiled Associated Press Preseason Top 25 List, including four of the top six (No. 2 UConn, No. 4 UCLA, No. 5 Utah, and No. 6 South Carolina). All three matchups will be televised nationally on ESPN/ESPN 2.
