UNCASVILLE, CT (June 27, 2017) – The atmosphere was electric as Barrett-Jackson’s extended Northeast Auction attracted
thousands of registered bidders – including an increase of younger bidders – and surpassed the $94-million mark in total funds raised for charity to date. The Barrett-Jackson 2nd Annual Northeast Auction sold 630 vehicles, with sales totaling approximately $23.5 million at a 95.74-percent sell-through rate. 685 pieces of automobilia sold for more than $819,000, bringing the total sales to more than $24.3 million. Approximately 72,000 people attended this year’s auction, which was extended to four days based on the tremendous success of last year’s inaugural event.
“We’re extremely grateful to our sponsors, consignors and bidders for helping make this year’s Northeast Auction another banner event,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “Several thrilling trends emerged, including a surge in participation by younger guests. On Friday we experienced the sheer excitement when a pair of young teenagers sold a Bandit Trans Am (Lot #449). We also saw the demand for trucks grow, along with top-tier custom vehicles that had been professionally restored or modified.”
The Barrett-Jackson Northeast Auction docket included a wide range of American muscle, European classics, exotics, sports cars and one-of-a-kind customs. The top sellers at the auction included:
2017 Ferrari 488 Spider (Lot #657) – $434,500
1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback (Lot #709) – $407,000
1958 Dual-Ghia Convertible (Lot #699) – $269,500
1967 Chevrolet Corvette 427/435 (Lot #706) – $231,000
1966 Shelby GT350-H Fastback (Lot #665.1) – $220,000
1959 Dodge Custom Royal Super D-500 Convertible (Lot #691) – $220,000
The auction also claimed four new world auction sales records, including a ’53 Willys Wagon (Lot #319), a ’47 Indian Chief Motorcycle with Sidecar (Lot #352), a ’93 Land Rover Defender 110 (Lot #659) and an ’04 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Custom Pickup (Lot #714). In addition, the top-selling ’17 Ferrari 488 Spider (Lot #657) was the first ever to be sold at auction.
“Our Northeast Auction has evolved into an exciting automotive lifestyle event that’s unrivaled in the region,” said Steve Davis, Barrett-Jackson president. “We’re also the barometer for the collector car market and are the first to identify changes in the market. We intentionally design our dockets to capitalize on these emerging trends and create the best possible experience for our bidders.”
Barrett-Jackson also passed the $94-million mark for total funds raised for charity with the sale of a “life-size” Hot Wheels® 2014 Transit Connect. The van was donated by Ford and sold for $50,000, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting the Darrell Gwynn Quality of Life Chapter of The Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis. A ’96 Ford Mustang built by the students at the Jordan Vocational High School hammered in at $65,000 on Friday, with all proceeds benefiting Jordan High School’s automotive program. The Mustang originally sold at the Palm Beach Auction and was donated back by the winning bidders, Jeanette and John Staluppi, to spur additional funds for the school.
Sales of automobilia items were also a favorite part of the auction among guests. Sales totaled more than $800,000, a 7-percent increase in sales over last year’s record-breaking auction. The top automobilia seller was Lot #7387, a mid-1950s Polly Oil restored service station fuel island with two original Bennett model #966 gas pumps, which sold for $24,725.
The 10th Annual Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas Auction will be held Oct. 19-21, 2017, at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. More information can be found online here.

UNCASVILLE, CT (June 2, 2017) – An incredible lineup of classic and late-model Ford Mustangs are making their way to Barrett-Jackson’s 2nd Annual Northeast Auction at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, June 21-24, 2017. Among the hotly anticipated Mustangs coming to The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auction® is an extremely rare Shelby GT350-H Fastback (Lot #665.1) that is one of 999 Shelby GT350s built in 1966 and a freshly restored ’70 Mustang Boss 429 Fastback (Lot #650).
“The Ford Mustang is an iconic American sports car with a rich racing heritage,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “Carroll Shelby helped skyrocket the Mustang’s appeal in 1965 when he introduced the GT350. Today, the popularity of the Mustang continues to be fueled by great drivers like World Champion drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr., and we are excited to have him auction his custom RTR-C. Over the years Barrett-Jackson has sold some of the most high-profile Mustangs, and we look forward to continuing that tradition at Mohegan Sun.”
An extremely rare ’66 Shelby GT350-H Fastback (Lot #665.1) crossing the block at the Northeast Auction is one of only 59 finished in Ivy Green. Fully documented by the SAAC Registry, this Shelby Fastback was completely restored in 2010 and retains almost all of the original sheet metal and framed fiberglass hood. It features a long list of original and correct components, including Ford Carlite glass, Hertz wheels and the restored Cobra Tach. The original matching-numbers Hi-Po 289ci engine was completely rebuilt and documentation includes the SAAC registry book, binder with records, owner’s manuals and Hertz brochure.
With only 10 test miles since its rotisserie restoration, a Grabber Blue ’70 Boss 429 Fastback (Lot #650) features all-original panels and a 375-horsepower 429 Boss engine. It’s equipped with fiberglass belted tires, Drag Pack, convenience group and documentation that includes three copies of Ford Window Stickers and a Deluxe Marti Report.
World Champion drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr. introduced a new generation of Mustangs to the world with the 2010 Ford Mustang RTR-C (Lot #658). Built as a halo car for the RTR brand, this Pony car is wrapped in a carbon-fiber exterior, which shed nearly 500 pounds from the factory version. It’s outfitted with Ford Racing’s supercharged 550-horsepower coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission. Riding on HRE CF40 carbon-fiber wheels, this one-of-one Mustang also features Ford Racing front and rear anti-roll bars, Autosport Dynamics rear control arms and TEIN in-car dampening adjustable coilovers.
“Backed by an impressive racing heritage, Mustang remains one of the most sought-after muscle cars on the market,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “They’re an excellent car for first-time buyers and seasoned collectors alike. Our Northeast docket will give enthusiasts at every level a chance to own their own piece of American automotive history.”
Mustangs from the ’60s in this year’s premier automotive lifestyle event at Mohegan Sun include a ’67 Custom Fastback (Lot #667). It features a rare Ford 427 FE side-oiler big-block engine connected to a C6 racing transmission and is loaded with high-performance components, including a MagnaFlow exhaust, sway bars and American Racing Shelby Cobra 18-inch rims with Nitto tires. Another ’67 Custom Fastback (Lot #747) started as a coupe and was finished in Pepper Grey Metallic. It comes equipped with unique Shelby badging, GT500 body and rocker striping, 17-inch Shelby-style alloy wheels and a Shelby-style wood steering wheel.
A ’68 Custom Mustang Fastback (Lot #718) started as an original S-Code 390 GT big-block Fastback and was finished in an “Eleanor” body kit. It is a zero-mile restoration muscle car and is powered by a professionally rebuilt 390ci V8 with GT heads, GT exhaust manifolds and GT intake.
