ABOUT RON GRESCHNER:
Ron Greschner is a retired professional ice hockey defenceman who played in the NHL for 16 seasons between 1974 and 1990. He was selected 32nd overall by the New York Rangers in the 1974 NHL Amateur Draft. He played in 982 career NHL games, all with the Rangers, scoring 179 goals and 431 assists for 610 points. He also compiled 1,226 penalty minutes.
Greschner’s best offensive season was the 1977–78 season when he scored 24 goals and 48 assists for 72 points (all career highs). For much of his career, he was known as an offensive-minded type of defenceman in the mold of Bobby Orr and Brad Park.
Greschner serves as the Executive Director of the Ron Greschner Foundation which supports autism research and awareness.
ABOUT NICK FOTIU:
Born in Staten Island, New York, Nick Fotiu played in 5 leagues over the course of his career. He signed with the Rangers in July of 1976 and played three seasons there where he brought the Madison Square Garden fans to their feet with his thunderous play and boundless energy. In 1979, Fotiu played four games in the post-season when the Rangers made it to the Stanley Cup finals.  After his time with the Rangers, he would be selected in the Expansion Draft by the Hartford Whalers. After a season-and-a-half in Connecticut, Fotiu returned to the Rangers and remained for nearly five years.
In March of 1986, the Calgary Flames sought his grit as they were gearing up for the playoffs. Fotiu played eleven games as the Flames reached the Stanley Cup finals for the first time in franchise history. Retirement came in 1990, but life in Hockey was far from over as Fotiu held various coaching positions in the ECHL and AHL for many years to come.

Andy Roddick Calls It A Career And Will Play At Miracle Match For A Cure Event At Mohegan Sun Arena

Andy Roddick makes his 1st appearance since announcing his retirement and a cast of superstars play in the Ultimate Miracle Match

Andy Roddick gave himself a bittersweet birthday gift on August 30th as he announced his retirement from tennis and proclaimed this year’s U.S. Open would be his final professional tournament.  The 30 year-old, 20th ranked tennis player in the world exited Wednesday, September 5th from this year’s U.S. Open and had an emotional goodbye to his fans as he lost to the 7th ranked Juan Martin del Potro. Tennis fans will be able to see him compete in one of his final public appearances at the Match For A Cure at Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday, September 14th at 7:00pm.
The headline event is an “Ultimate Miracle Match,” placing Roddick against Miracle Match Foundation founder, leukemia survivor and tennis professional, Bill Przybysz, all while supporting Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and the Miracle Match Foundation. VIP ticket holders and sponsors are invited to attend a gala cocktail reception that will feature a question-and-answer session with the players as well as opportunities for autographs and pictures. Twenty tickets are also being sold for $1,000 each for both beginner and advanced tennis clinics with the celebrity players prior to the main event.

During his career, Roddick racked up 32 ATP World Tour titles, 33 Davis Cup wins and was the #1 men’s tennis player in the world in 2003 when he won the U.S. Open. “Whatever my faults were, I’ve always felt like I’ve never done anything halfway,” Roddick continued. “This was probably the first time in my career that I can sit here and say, ‘I’m not sure I can put everything into it physically and emotionally. I don’t know if I want to disrespect the game by coasting home.'”

Mohegan Sun Unveils The New Bow & Arrow Sports Bar With Party On September 5th

Mohegan Sun invites guests to the Bow & Arrow Sports Bar Kickoff Party to highlight the big changes to the sports bar
Located in Casino of the Earth, Bow & Arrow Sports Bar has undergone some major upgrades by way of brand-new big screens, wireless tabletop speakers, more seating, great food & beverage menus and more. Guests can enjoy the new layout and features come Wednesday, September 5th with a grand opening celebration set to feature raffle prizes, cigar cutting demos and of course, the Giants and Cowboys on the big screen!
Construction on Bow & Arrow has finished right on schedule, allowing for a great night of football and partying to welcome in the new and improved sports destination at Mohegan Sun. “Sterling Win” at 2012 Ahmad Rashad Celebrity Team Championship

Battling a competitive celebrity field of 30 stars of sports and entertainment NFL great Sterling Sharpe and Golf Channel  Win McMurry captured the 2012 Ahmad Rashad Celebrity Team Championship at Mohegan Sun Country Club at Pautipaugh, Baltic, Conn.
“The Ahmad Rashad Celebrity Team Championship was in every aspect a ‘Sterling Win’,” said NFL All-Pro, Emmy Award-winning sportscaster, NFL great and College Football Hall of Famer Ahmad Rashad, the event host.
“More than four thousand fans both on the course and at Mohegan Sun enjoyed the three-day event, raising funds for The REACH Foundation and The First Tee of Connecticut,” said Jay Sloves and Tom Landers,  Event Co-Directors.
Sharpe and McMurry edged out the teams of football Hall of Famer Marcus Allen/ former MLB star Scott Sanderson and former NBA star Herb Williams/former NHL star Greg Stefan with an even par 108  in the 27-hole Celebrity Team Championship.
Baseball Hall of Famer and New York Yankees legend  Richard “Goose” Gossage said: “This is one of the best celebrity events around.”  Great event and looking forward to next year.”

ABOUT AARON HERNANDEZ: Aaron Hernandez grew up and played high school football in Bristol, Connecticut. In 2006 he amassed 1,807 receiving yards, 24 touchdown catches and set a state record of 376 receiving yards in one game, a number that also marks the seventh best game total in high school history.  After a brilliant college career playing tight end for the Florida Gators, the New England Patriots drafted Hernandez in the fourth round. In his first year with the team he caught 45 passes for 563 total yards and 6 touchdowns.  This most recent season saw the athletic tight end grab 79 catches to go along with 1,473 yards and 7 touchdowns.  It was this 2011-2012 season that he and fellow Patriot, Rob Gronkowski, combined for one of the most jaw dropping offensive seasons ever produced by two tight end teammates in history with well over 2,000 combined receiving yards, 24 total touchdowns and a whopping 169 receptions.
ABOUT NIKO KOUTOUVIDES: A Plainville, Connecticut native, Niko Koutouvides went on to play for the Purdue Boilermakers after a very impressive high school career.  As a linebacker, his 296 tackles, five interceptions, four sacks and four fumble recoveries in his 3 years at Purdue were more than enough to get the attention of the Seattle Seahawks.  After a few stops across the league, the Patriots acquired Koutouvides in August of 2011 and he became a staple on special teams throughout the year and in the post-season.
