SuperBand will be celebrating the Year of the Tiger in Mohegan Sun Arena.  The show will have two performances on Sunday, February 21st; the first at 2:00am and the second at 2:00pm.

SuperBand is a Mandarin pop band formed by four veteran singers; Lo Ta-yu, Jonathan Lee, Wakin Chau and Chang Chen-yue.  These four singers have released a total of 70 albums throughout their careers, 600 main compositions and have performed more than 350 individual concerts.  The band was formed in 2008 and the journey kicked off in Taiwan, travelling to China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Canada and the U.S. and will conclude in Taiwan.  Mohegan Sun will be the last stop on their tour, as well as their last performance as SuperBand before they resume their individual careers afterwards.  
Lo Ta-yu is a Taiwanese singer and songwriter who affected Chinese Pop and Rock music with his melodic lyrics, love songs and witty social and political commentary that he infuses into his more political songs.  He is recognized as a major cultural icon in Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. 
Jonathan Lee is a Taiwanese record producer, singer and songwriter.  Throughout the mid 80s to the 90s, he composed lyrics and melodies for numerous musicians in the Rock Records label, including Jackie Chan and Sandy Lam.
Wakin Chau is a Hong Kong singer and actor popular in Taiwan, Hong Kong and China.  He has released more than 40 albums and held several international concert tours.  He then became a prominent name in the music of Taiwan and has fans of all ages, not only in Asia, but also in North America and Europe.  His platinum albums such as You Make Me Happy and Sad, The Flowery Heart and Music Brings Us Together etc have won awards in Taiwan, China, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Chang Chen-yue is another Taiwanese Rock musician known for his 1998 hit song “Ai Wo Bie Zou.”  He is a songwriter, singer and guitarist and also a dance music DJ under the name DJ Orange.  Chang is also an actor who has appeared in a number of films.  His 1998 film, Connection by Fate, directed by Wan Jen, was shown at the Venice Film Festival.

Sunburst Buffet will serve a wide range of meals including a Steak Giambotta or Shrimp & Pesto Fettuccine.  Seasons Buffet will feature Roasted Turkey Breast, a Slow-Roasted Garlic & Shallot Crusted Prime Rib as well as an Herb-Roasted Pork Loin.  Desserts selections include Hot Caramel Apples, Bread Pudding and Fruit Cobbler.  Sunburst Buffet will be open from 11:00am – 12:00am and Seasons Buffet will be serving breakfast from 7:30am – 11:00am followed by lunch and dinner selections through 12:00am.    
Todd English’s Tuscany will offer a Chef’s Tasting Menu that starts out with Tuna Tartare; Crispy Rock Shrimp, Cucumber Salad with Sesame Dressing followed by Tuscan Misto (Surf & Turf) that features a 6-ounce Filet alongside a Butter-Poached Lobster and a side of Roquefort Mashed Potatoes topped with Celeriac Remoulade.  For dessert is a Signature Fallen Chocolate Cake with Tahitian Vanilla Gelato and Raspberry Purée.  This meal is offered at $47.00 per person.  Dinner will be served from 11:30am – 12:00am.

Special gourmet dishes prepared by world-class chefs to be featured on December 25th
Mohegan Sun’s restaurants and buffets will offer an array of gourmet dishes for the holidays including Grilled Rosemary Chicken Breast, Baked Stuffed Shrimp and Pan-Roasted Sea Bass.  
On Christmas Eve, Seasons Buffet will offer dinner entrées that include Grilled Sirloin Steak Pepperonata, Thai-Style Steamed Mussels, Grilled Rosemary Chicken Breast and Slow-Roasted Garlic & Shallot Crusted Steamship.  Servings of Bread Pudding, Apple or Fruit Cobbler, Warm-Battered Cheesecake Bites or Tapioca Pudding will be featured for dessert.  The buffet will be offered at $16.98, plus tax and will be served from 11:00am to 10:00pm.  Seasons breakfast buffet is served from 7:30am to 11:00am.
On Christmas Day, Todd English’s Tuscany will offer a chef tasting menu that includes Tortelli of Butternut Squash with Sage Brown Butter, a Pan-Roasted Sea Bass with Horseradish Whipped Potatoes and a Pan-Seared Duck Breast with Cranberry Orange Glaze, Sweet Potato Purée and Roasted Cauliflower.   Dessert will be a Christmas Snowball: Coconut-Covered Torrone Gelato with a Warm Bittersweet Chocolate Sauce and Snowflake Cookies.   This tasting menu will be offered at $47.00 per person. Dinner will be served from 11:30am to 10:00pm.
Also on Christmas Day, The Longhouse will feature Surf & Turf: Bourbon Pan-Roasted Filet Mignon combined with Seafood-Stuffed Lobster Tail with assorted Baby Vegetables, Roast Fingerling Potatoes and topped with Caviar Coral Cream.  This offering is $55.00 per person.  The Longhouse will be serving dinner from 5:00pm to 10:00pm.

The Competition Heats Up During SUN WINEFEST 2010

Chef Showdown, a Grape Stomp competition and the 7th Annual Mohegan Sun Oyster Open take place during the weekend’s Grand Tasting

 A culinary face-off, mashed grapes and oyster shucking will highlight a competition-filled weekend during SUN WINEFEST 2010. A variety of events will take place on Saturday, January 30th and Sunday, January 31st including the 6th Annual Chef Showdown, 7th Annual Mohegan Sun Oyster Open and the first-ever Grape Stomp competition.

Sponsored by Hatfield® the 6th Annual Chef Showdown kicks off Saturday, January 30th at 1:45pm on the main stage in the Uncas Ballroom during the Grand Tasting. Chefs who submit the most creative, unique and inspiring recipe utilizing Hatfield® Flat Iron Pork Sirloin and Quick Ribs will be chosen as finalists to  prepare their dishes for a chance to take home $4,000, an exclusive VIP stay at Mohegan Sun, a custom Championship Chef’s Coat and a feature in an upcoming issue of Hartford Magazine. Cantopop Superstar Aaron Kwok Joins The Mohegan Sun Walk of Fame

Mohegan Sun is pleased to announce that one of the most popular Hong Kong singers, Aaron Kwok,  will join the list of top-tier entertainers who have become a part of the Mohegan Sun Walk of Fame.  His induction will take place in the forecourt of the Mohegan Sun Box Office immediately following his second performance in the Arena on Sunday, December 20th.    
Mohegan Sun’s Walk of Fame is an exclusive group of performers who are honored for making a significant contribution to the continued success of Mohegan Sun.  Mohegan Sun is privileged to accept the honor of inducting Aaron Kwok into this elite club.  Not only will Kwok be among other inductees such as Billy Joel, Rod Stewart and Taylor Swift; he will also be the first Asian performer to accept this honor at Mohegan Sun.

Mohegan Sun is now serving its seasonal Cold Moon Winter Ale, a beer brewed for over ten years by The Brew Pub at Mohegan Sun.  The Ale is on tap now in The Brew Pub as well as various locations throughout the property.
Cold Moon Ale is a full body beer with a dark red to dark copper tone.  It starts out sweet and ends with a chocolate and coffee finish.  One of the first of three original Ales brewed at Mohegan Sun’s micro brewery, Cold Moon is made with three types of malt that include Amber malt, Pilsen malt and Traditional Dark malt.  Cascade and Kent Goldings hops provide added flavor.

Mohegan Sun is pleased to be voted the best venue in Connecticut for Latin shows by Telemundo Hartford and Springfield affiliates owned by the ZGS Broadcasting Group.  For three weeks in October, viewers of these television channels were prompted with a 15-second promo to vote online for their favorite venue.  Voters chose their favorite venue for a Latin show from six different selections. Mohegan Sun was the clear favorite, capturing 50% of all votes.

The weekend’s main event, the Grand Tasting takes place from 12:00pm – 5:00pm in the Convention Center at Mohegan Sun. Tickets for the Grand Tasting are $70.00 for a one-day pass and $110.00 for a weekend pass, and may be purchased online at ticketmaster.com, over the phone at 1.800.745.3000, or in-person at Mohegan Sun’s Box Office.  A Grand Tasting ticket is not required to attend Seminars, the Celebrity Chef Dine Around or the Elite Cru tasting, and a ticket to the Grand Tasting does not grant admission to those events.
